    WEP President Bob Koplar

Greg and Marc interview World Events Productions President Bob Koplar, where they talk about Voltron: Legendary Defender, WonderCon, DreamWorks Animation, LEGO, Stephen Colbert, Deadpool, Lion Forge Comics, answer fan questions, and much more.

Bob Koplar has great things to say about the work that DreamWorks Animation has put into developing and launching Voltron: Legendary Defender, coming to Netflix on June 10, and what this means for WEP, the property owner of Voltron.

In addition to answering fan questions about the new show, Bob talks about some other current events occurring with Voltron. First off, there's a new 5-issue comic book mini-series coming out in July from Lion Forge Comics, entitled Voltron: Legendary Defender, which is a story supplement to the DreamWorks Animation show, and it's written by Story Editor Tim Hedrick and episode writer Mitch Iverson.

To read more about the launch of this comic book series, check out the exclusive story from Comic Book Resources (CBR):

Marc also mentions The Late Show with Stephen Colbert which had a segment called "Friday Night Fights", with guest Thomas Lennon (The Odd Couple), who took the side of Gandalf and Optimus Prime Vs. Stephen's team of Dumbledore and Voltron.

Voltron: The Third Dimension - Part 2

Voltron: The Third Dimension - Part 2

With our special guests, Shannon Muir and Gregory Tyler, we continue our discussion about all of the 26 episodes that made up Voltron: The Third Dimension. We also talk about the full line of Trendmasters toys that supported the show in the retail outlets, and we finish by giving credit to all the talented people that worked on Voltron: The Third Dimension and paved the way for CGI animation in the late 90's.

We want to thank Shannon Muir and Gregory Tyler for this comprehensive and detailed look at Voltron: The Third Dimension. Their insight into the story, background, characters, and mythology of Voltron really made this a unique look at Voltron: The Third Dimension that has never been heard before.

You can reach Shannon Muir through her website at http://www.shannonmuir.com

Gregory Tyler is on Facebook, where he's always willing to have a conversation about Voltron toys, mythos, characters, episodes or anything Sci-Fi as well.

    As always, Thanks for Listening!

Voltron: The Third Dimension - Part 1

Voltron: The Third Dimension - Part 1

Voltron: The Third Dimension was the first 3D animated show fully produced in the US. On this first part of 2 podcast episodes, Marc brings special guests Shannon Muir and Gregory Tyler together to discuss the show in detail. From Behind-the-scenes techniques to episode reviews, we cover this Emmy-winning show completely.

Gregory Tyler was co-host with Marc on episodes 26 and 27 of Let's Voltron, when we discussed Vehicle Team Voltron in great detail. Now, we catch up on his 3D-printed Panosh Place style Vehicle Voltron project and learn some behind the scenes motion capture techniques that made the character movements so real. Thanks for joining us on the podcast again, Greg!

Shannon Muir has been a Voltron Fan since Day 1 and credits Voltron for inspiring her career in writing and animation production, and she was the creator of the Denubian Star Map, that was actually used by WEP for helping make sense of the Voltron Universe.

Here is a link to the Making of Voltron: The Third Dimension: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaA4rBwm7ro

In our next episode, Part 2, we will conclude the review of all the 26 episodes of Voltron: The Third Dimension, and we'll cover the Trendmasters line of toys that were released in the late 90's to support this show.

As always, thanks for listening to Let's Voltron: The Official Voltron Podcast!

As the fans ask Tiffany questions, we hear what a typical day might be like for Tiffany at the WEP offices in St. Louis, Missouri. She answers questions related to her role on Voltron: The Third Dimension and Voltron Force, and gives us an idea about the relationship DreamWorks has with World Events Productions.

At the end of the podcast, Tiffany announced the name of our “Show Us Your Voltron” contest winner.

[014]: Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con Recap

[014]: Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con Recap

Marc gets the lowdown from Mike about everything VOLTRON that happened at the Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con, including two panels and a booth, hosted by World Events Productions.

WEP Booth at St. Louis Comic Con

Mike goes into great detail about the process of setting up the booth on the convention floor, and what products were available to Voltron fans, including the opening of the Toynami 30th Anniversary Voltron for the first time! Mike also let us know what types of questions fans had when they came by the WEP booth.

Marc asks Mike to take us through both of the panels. Saturday's panel was the 30th Anniversary Celebration panel which was kicked off with a special new 30th Anniversary Voltron Compilation video, edited by our own Michael French. That really got the fans going! Watch the video here.

    https://www.youtube.com/embed/6DRQkzuC2oc?wmode=opaque&enablejsapi=1

As fans lined up to ask questions at the panel, the first question was about the live-action movie, which was also a common question at the Voltron booth. Mike and Marc talk about this at length during the podcast.

There were many products that were mentioned during the panel, including the Toynami 30th Anniversary Voltron, T-Shirts, Hoodies, Hockey Jerseys, and more, and even products that didn't make the cut, like the Voltron Form Blazing Sword Boxer Shorts.

Also debuting for the first time ever was the Let's Voltron Podcast trailer, made by our own Marc Morrell. Fan response was great, and people were given postcards at the WEP booth, similar to the cards that were sent to some of the people that have participated in the podcast. Watch the Let's Voltron trailer.

We had talked during the podcast about making the Pop Culture Video available as a link on this notes page, but that video is something that will only be shown as an exclusive for Voltron Panels at the conventions. So, if you want to see that, you should try to make your way to either San Diego Comic Con in July or New York Comic Con in October.

Voltron Panel at St. Louis Comic Con

Michael also talked about the Kids Panel that was geared to the younger Voltron fans on Sunday.

    Once again, thanks for listening!

This episode of Let’s Voltron continues our conversation with Bob Koplar, the Vice President of World Events Productions. In Part 2, Bob answers all the fan questions and thanks the fans for their support for the last 30 years.

If you wondered what DreamWorks’ acquisition of Classic Media will mean for the Voltron franchise, Bob gives us some insight into what WEP knows at this point.

If you wanted to know what conventions WEP will be attending to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Voltron, Bob lets us know where they will be this year.

If you want to know more about Beast King GoLion, the original Japanese cartoon that Voltron was derived from, then you will hear Bob talk about that in this episode.

If you had submitted a question that was not asked during this episode, we apologize if we could not include it this time around. There will be many more guests coming on the podcast this year, and there are many more opportunities to submit questions. So, keep trying, and we’ll make sure to include your questions.

We want to thank Bob Koplar for being our special guest, and for everything that WEP has done over the last 30 years since Voltron entered our lives and became such a lasting memory. We are looking forward to seeing more Voltron in the future.

Don’t forget, Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con is this weekend, April 4-6, in St. Louis. We are looking forward to talking about the convention and the response from Voltron fans that are attending from all over.

[012]: WEP VP Bob Koplar (Part 1)
