    038: Back To The Future

    038: Back To The Future

Who’s it for: People who watch movies and take their Christian faith seriously.

The WatchWell Podcast presented by Parker Brown Cinematography is a Christian movie review podcast that discusses false or incoherent worldviews in comparison to the Christian worldview. We watch a movie, discuss the plots and character arcs that Hollywood pieces together to tell us how life is or isn’t and then we go to the Bible to interpret its authenticity.

Acts 17:22 Paul went to the men of Athens. The WatchWell Podcast aims at Hollywood and their art to demonstrate the unknown God. That even in their art they cant help but depict what they already know to be true in their hearts. That God is real, the Bible is true, and Christ is King.

    Figure It Out

    Figure It Out

Have you ever felt unprepared? Like wholly unprepared? Maybe you've felt that way in work or school; or maybe you've felt unprepared in a much more serious life situation where you felt like you had no idea how to navigate the situation before you. Feeling unprepared can create both fear and paralyzation.

Jesus knew this, which is why He chose to prepare His disciples for what was about to happen during the lead up to the cross. He didn't want them to feel forgotten or ill-equipped, and He didn't want them to be left on their own to figure out.

    The Called-Out Church

    The Called-Out Church
Why is it important to be a member of a local church? Well, its biblical and beneficial. God’s heart is not for us to just attend church, but to belong and be the church. As we study the bible today in Matthew chapter 16, we see that Jesus calls out His followers, and begins the church. The English word for church is derived from the Greek Ekklesia which means the called-out body. Further on in scripture, we see that there is no such thing in the New Testament as a believer that exists independently as one who is not fully active in a local church. Our connection with a faith family is what sets Christianity apart from religion. Pastor Matt teaches us in this sermon, that God speaks to the church, God speaks through the church, and as the church, we are the hope of the world. Church is not just a place to attend, it’s a place to participate and belong, and it holds the power to impact the world and generations to come. Maybe it’s time for you to be planted in a local church and begin the active process of belonging and participating in the work God has planned and show the world hope and share His grace. Psalms 92:12-13 says that “the righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” If you’re looking for a church to belong to, or have questions, please take the next step and reach out to us. We’d love to answer any questions you have, and help you get connected to be called out. Burnthickory.com/next

2 Timothy Series: Part 1 - Whatever Happens... Remember Your Faith // Pastor Christian Bonham

Is Christianity on the decline? Is the Church in trouble? Many seem to think so. But the Bible tells us plainly that the Gospel is a persevering faith. Today we begin a new series that takes a look at an intimate letter from Paul to Timothy which teaches and encourages him to build a persevering faith. A faith that doesn't diminish even when challenges arise.

The Touchstone of Christianity - Peter Ramsay

The Touchstone of Christianity - Peter Ramsay

True Christianity is a whole lot more than adherence to a set of scriptural doctrines about God and how we should live our lives. Christianity revolves around a person - the Lord Jesus Christ - and our relationship with God through Him. Many people like to think of themselves as Christians because they believe ABOUT Christ - that He came to earth from heaven to save us from our sin. But the real question we should be asking ourselves is whether or not we truly KNOW Him personally.
