    28. Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage - What Is The Difference Anyway?

    28. Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage - What Is The Difference Anyway?

    There is no doubt that the world of wine is incredibly confusing for a range of reasons, not least of which is the frequent use of names and terms that overlap and/or are similar to one another.

    Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage are two prime examples of this.  Located in the very prestigious Northern Rhone, these two wine appellations are similar in some ways but very different in others....and many consumers don't fully understand the nuances.

    Whether you are a wine student or a wine lover wanting to better understand the Rhone Valley, this episode is for you!  Tune in and learn more about what makes the Hermitage AOC and the Crozes-Hermitage AOC similar...and how they differ from one another.  We discuss everything from geography to winemaking to what you will find in your glass!

    To read about the differences between Hermitage AOC and Crozes-Hermitage AOC, read this blog post.

    14. Working Up A Sweat….And Discussing the Fine Art of BYOB!

    I’m pretty proud of me, myself and I as I’m recording this episode.  I broke a serious sweat to kick off the day and it feels good!  So in this episode, I can’t help but share a little bit about my approach to exercise and what I find necessary and helpful when it comes to bringing fitness into my life - hopefully, this gets you moving today!

    We also take a look at the fine art of BYOB - or, bringing your own (wine) bottle when you go out for a meal.  Inspired by a recent outing with my family, I share what works and doesn’t work when it comes to BYOB and when/where you should consider it as a viable option for your overall dining experience.  In my personal view, it is a great opportunity to partake in under a lot of circumstances if and when it is available to you :)

    If you’re in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and you’re wondering where you can BYOB, here’s a great list to help you out:  Toronto BYOB Restaurants.  Remember to take one of the tips from this episode and always call ahead to confirm the accuracy of this (or any other) list at the time of your dining experience.

    Also, if you want to check out the cool South Asian restaurant I talk about in this episode (which I highly recommend you do!!), check out this link:  Soos Restaurant

    13. Why Is This So Hard??….And Diving Into All Things Port!

    13. Why Is This So Hard??….And Diving Into All Things Port!

    I’ve been at it for YEARS and I still can’t seem to get this one thing right as a Mom (amongst a whole host of other things, no doubt!).

    It doesn’t seem to matter how well organized I try to be, some things just don’t seem meant to be once you’re a parent. Can you relate? In this episode, I hope to shed light on how to manage through moments you cannot control and enjoy them as best as you can.  After all, isn’t life supposed to be beautiful?

    And then, we dive into Port wine!  Port is a style of wine that I confess I don’t personally drink a lot of but I do appreciate it.  The thing about Port is that it can be downright intimidating!  As if there isn’t already enough to know/learn in the world of wine…. :)

    Well don’t worry, in this episode, I break down the basics of Port for you, including:

    • What Port is;
    • Where in the world Port comes from;
    • The traditional origins of Port;
    • Major styles of Port;
    • Other wines that come from the same region as Port does; and
    • Foods to pair with this style of wine!

    Have a listen - I”m sure you’ll learn a thing or two, even if you are very knowledgeable about wines!  For those who wish to take a deeper dive into the topic, be sure to check out this excellent resource by Wine Enthusiast magazine.
