024 From Corporate Life To Contact Sports with Flick Lucas

024 From Corporate Life To Contact Sports with Flick Lucas

    ABOUT THIS EPISODE –

This episode is so much more than a story about taking that 'Leap of Faith' - quitting corporate life because it does not make you happy any more.

It’s about a mother recognising that she ‘needed something’, a woman determined to find a way to ‘make a difference’ and it’s an inspiring story of starting with your passions and creating a business around it.

Flick Lucas used to live a corporate life in London. She was very good at her job but did it really make her happy? Did she have what it takes to quit?

Becoming a mother gave her the opportunity to re-evaluate. But is motherhood enough? Is it ok to want more? To have it all?

Yes is the answer!  In this episode, Flick talks openly about how following her passions of delicious food and rugby she returned to student life to do a Masters degree and build a business based around her passions and her children. Everyday she does what she loves. She is thriving, her children are thriving and the people she works with are thriving. A win win!

    KEY TAKEAWAY –

“If you ask yourselves, am I happy in my job? If you don't immediately say ‘Yes’, trust your gut, the answer is probably no, there is an answer out there. You just need to find what your passion is. Go back to basics, go back through and what is your underlying passion? What is it that you love doing that you feel that you could help people with will make a difference in people's lives? 95% will be planning or procrastination, the last 5% will be a leap of faith. But you have to believe in yourself. And once you take that leap, you'll be happy!”

Flick’s Action Plan for those wanting more, for those who are not happy in their job:

    1. Listen to your gut
    2. Trust yourself
    3. Take the Leap of Faith!
    4. Follow your passions
    5. Just ask – what’s the worse someone can say? – No and that’s ok, take it and move on!
