How heroes and villains are similar and different

Moreover, he shares about marketing from social media to blog posts.

Hello its Peter here a game from writers
life and today can you really be a
part-time writer when it comes to
writing we all hear those stories of
famous writers you know the ones who are
ate slept and breathed writing those who
would guess over three am shaking with
passion and a fierce unstoppable desire
to write all their thoughts down those
who couldn't think of anything other
than writing who would spend their days
holed up in their study perhaps a quirky
just filled share the bottom of their
garden and not see daylight or eat for
days on end because their work was so
consumed well that might be all well and
good but for most of us the idea of
    being a full-time writer is a bit of a
luxury we all know how hard it is to get
published so how much time can we
realistically spend on our writing while
still making sure we have a roof over
    our heads
also it's okay not to want writing to be
the only thing you do with your life
writers seem to carry immense amounts of
guilt around with them they beat
themselves up for not doing enough for
    not being good enough
in fact often we are so down on
ourselves and put so much pressure on
ourselves it's a wonder we find any joy
in writing at all sure being a good
    writer requires dedication and
    commitment and discipline there's no
doubt about it but one can be a
    part-time writer and still progress
still see targets and still achieve our
writing dreams when did being a writer
mean one has to be bleary-eyed neglects
our friends and families and live on
crusts of bread and water for weeks on
end it's like we have to be ashamed if
we are practically killing ourselves to
    achieve our writing goal
there's a myth that unless we are waking
up in the middle of the night and slowly
becoming reclusive in order to write
that we can't possibly be passionate
enough about it or dedicated enough for
it to be a success writers need to give
themselves a break at the end of the day
while it's important to work hard for
what you want in life it's also
    important to enjoy the process
so if writing part-time works for you
and allows you to write at your leisure
while also enjoy everything else that
    life has to offer
that's fine in fact achieving a balance
between your writing life and your
actual life is healthy and something
which should be encouraged we don't need
to have a sob story we don't need to
cripple ourselves and end up a
    stressed-out
exhausted shell of a person to follow
our dreams that's not to say that being
a full time writer couldn't be brilliant
but it needs to be because that's the
right move not born out of some sort of
guilt ridden weird idea that you're not
a real writer unless you dedicate every
inch of your being to it it's essential
for writers to stop and ask ourselves is
this working for me am i enjoying this
writers don't have to be tortured
    sleep-deprived soars it's okay and
possible to be a part-time writer and
still be successful it's just that it
may tell you a little longer to get
there that's all and don't forget if
you're struggling to write or finish
your book our free writers tool can help
with it you'll learn how to overcome
    procrastination get organized
stay focused fine times are right and
finally get your book published to get
access now while it's still available
    that's right as

Hello its Peter here again from writers
life where we have tips and advice for
writers and coming up this time hate
editing here's how to make it more fun
once you finish the first draft of your
manuscript you have every right to
    celebrate it's a considerable
    achievement after all however
unfortunately you can't rest on your
laurels for long as this is when the
hard work really begins now there is no
denying that there are some writers out
there who love the editing process they
    enjoy perfecting and reworking that
manuscripts until they get it just right
for most of us however editing can be a
real drag and something that many of us
dread in the worst cases it can mean
never actually getting your book into a
state where you feel comfortable enough
to try and publish it and all that hard
work is wasted so how can you find ways
to get through the editing process and
try to make it more fun here are some
helpful tips first break it down the
idea of editing your entire novel can
feel somewhat overwhelming so you need
to break the process down to make it
feel more manageable just title one
chapter at a time make that chapter as
brilliant as you can before moving on to
    the next next sets goals
don't let the editing process go on
    indefinitely
give yourself specific goals and a time
frame by which you need to finish doing
this will help you keep things in
perspective and motivated to keep on
going next bribe yourself to make the
process more fun you need to keep
rewarding yourself along the way only
you know what will keep you motivated
but make sure you treat yourself and
also takes out to get excited about how
your novel is shaping up and patting
yourself on the back for all the great
    work
    next work methodically it's imperative
not to keep starting each editing
session from the beginning of your book
otherwise you'll end up with a flawless
first three chapters and the rest of it
barely looks at understanding when it's
time to move on and realizing that
perfection is not an option is also
important a next work with friends
having writing bullies to be talked with
bounce ideas off or just to have a good
old moan and be invaluable so join a
local writing group or find some
supports online to help you when you're
feeling demotivated and don't want to
continue and our next tip is cheat
of course you could always hire a
professional editor to help you so
really all you need to do is get your
book in as good a shape as possible and
then hand it over to someone who does
this for a living remember an editor
    actually enjoy searching for missing
commas or inconsistencies so you can
rest assure that it's not all on you to
    find them
we know the editing process is tough but
by following these tips you can make it
more manageable and get your book into a
more publishable standard in no time and
don't forget if you're struggling to
write or finish your book our free
writers toolkit can help with it you'll
    learn how to overcome procrastination
stay focused get organized fine times
are right and finally get your book
published to get access to it now while
it's still available simply go to

Hello there it's writers life and Peter
here again with some more tips and
advice for writers and coming up today
can you crowd fund your writing without
a budget for your book it can be
challenging to find the time to keep
going if you are fitting in writing
while trying to hold down a full-time
job it can be a massive challenge trying
to get to the end even if you do then
having the capacity of budget to market
your novel can also become problematic
but what if you could get other people
to fund your work so you could actually
pay yourself to do the research writing
and promotion of your book to give it
the best chance of success many people
think this is only possible if you find
a publisher we'll need to give you an
advance and take on the role of markets
    of themselves however there are
    alternatives and many authors are
looking to crowdfund their writing to
make it possible for them to complete
their work so how does crowdfunding work
crowdfunding allows a person who wants
to create something to pre-sell their
products to raise the necessary funds to
do so you as the author need to explain
why it's essential for your book to come
into existence how will it benefit
    people
what's its USP being able to explain
    this succinctly
and make your project sound worthwhile
is what will draw investors in when it
comes to crowdfunding a book authors
tend to steer clear of offering equity
in the projects as this can get
    complicated
    however offering investors some
incentive or reward is important a
mention enly forward or a copy of the
finished book works well some authors
    have had fantastic success using
crowdfunding platforms to help raise a
budget to write their book some have
made hundreds of thousands of dollars
    before they've had
a single book that sure beats waiting
for sales to trickle in to try and make
a money back and is better than lots of
    publishers would offer to crowdfunding
your book also helps to build booths and
excitements around it and drape some
potential fanbase before your book hits
the shelves it also gives your book
validation before you write it if people
are willing to part with their
hard-earned cash because they believe in
your projects and you're managing your
crowdfunding goals then you know your
book is worth writing and having that
kind of confidence is pretty awesome
    a successful crowd funded self-published
book is also going to be considered more
credible than one that isn't anyone can
press publish and get that book out on
Amazon these days however a book that
has persuaded enough people to pre buys
is social proof that can make all the
difference when you come to launch day
so if you're looking for a way to raise
money and awareness for your next
project perhaps crowdfunding is the way
to go have you considered crowdfunding
your novel why not let us know and don't
forget if he's struggling to write or
finish your book our free rights is to
kick and helm with it you'll learn how
    to overcome procrastination stay focused
get organized find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access to it now while it's still
    available simply go to

Hello there is Peter here again with
more tips and advice for writers welcome
to writer's life and coming up today how
to be a more productive writer in 2019
at the start of the new year it's time
to put strategies in place to improve
our writing and make it even better in
the year ahead one common problem that
so many writers struggle with is just
    not getting enough done procrastination
distractions and not having enough time
or or obstacles to face when trying to
    be a more productive writer
however feeling as though you are doing
as much writing as you can is not only
satisfying but will also help you
improve your craft as well writing
    productively however isn't just about
writing lots it's about writing well and
trying to get into a habit of doing so
is even trickier here then are some
practical strategies to help you be a
more productive writer in 2019 first get
into a rhythm all writers are different
and only you know when you are at your
writing best don't just guess it
    experiment with writing at different
times in different spaces when you were
in different moods it might be like you
fight you do your best work after a run
first thing in the morning or you might
find getting it too comfy close with a
big mug of coffee and a plate of
    biscuits and the afternoon
is when you feel most creative whatever
works for you is what works best and
once you're in that rhythm that's when
you are at your most productive next
it's all about habits getting into a
writing routine is essential when it
comes to productivity without doing so
it's extremely difficult to write well
consistently once you have figured out
your peak writing times you need to
build a realistic but demanding writing
schedule around them and then make sure
you stick to it once you've gone into
your writing routine it'll become second
nature make sure you continue to
prioritize it though because if you're
letting slip you have to work hard to
get back into it again next get some
headspace some writers love to write in
amongst the chaos or find that they can
only write when out somewhere in the
hustle and bustle of life and that's
great other writers however need to have
things calm and ordered to write and any
sign of clutter gets them totally
distracted there's no right answer but
understanding what kind of setting makes
your brain feel most into MIDI or create
yourself that's the place you should
write next practice before you start do
a righty warm-up before you start every
session by getting into the practice of
free writing this is where you write
about anything that comes into your head
no restrictions no judgement doing this
for just a few minutes at a time can
help you get rid of that muddle of the
day and get you ready and focus to write
at your best and next keep it short
    don't make your writing sessions
painfully long otherwise you'll end up
just writing nonsense to fill up the
pages if you want to write it your most
    productively
keep session short and always end when
you feel as though you have more to say
and next don't critic your own work not
at the start anyway make a rule that you
are not allowed to go back and read over
what you've written until at least a
week later instead focus on getting that
story down it's so easy to get caught up
in editing in the early stages but we
can ruin our own stories or run out of
steam too early more likely to be your
own worst critic so just let your
writing rest for a while before you go
back and chop it to pieces and next
    congratulate yourself remember to give
    yourself praise keeping your momentum
going is all about having a positive
mindset and making sure you're in good
spirits so take the time to congratulate
and reward yourself every time you get
one step closer to achieve it your
writing goals so what do you do to stay
productive why not share them with us in

Hello there and welcome to writer's life
my name's Peter and coming up this time
    novelettes novellas novels what's the
difference when it comes to writing a
book there are many classifications a
writer should make sure they're aware of
the differences of writing a novel
compared to writing a novel at or
novella understanding what makes a novel
    a novel a novella
a novella and so on will help writers
decide not only what kind of book they'd
like to write but also enable them to
    familiarize themselves with the
structures the rules and the audiences
that will help to shape the book as they
write it so let's take a look at the
different types of book first let's take
a look at a novel at a novelette is a
more modern term and is used to describe
a book that's too short to be considered
a novella but too long to be regarded as
a short story this book type can be
ideal for new writers who want to
    experiment with writing longer stories
yet can't yet commit to writing a full
novel a novel that would be around 7,500
words in length though as with all the
book types there is no exact work count
to define them and would focus on a
single character or a very minimal cast
of characters and on a single purpose or
journey next let's take a look at a
novel ax the concept of a novella came
about in the early Renaissance period
some famous examples of novellas include
a Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
and the metamorphosis by Kafka a novella
usually focuses on the main set of
characters and sticks to one plot
    without digressing into subplots the
lens is around 20,000 to 30,000 words
so readers can get through the entire
story in one sitting this type of book
works well for writers who find the idea
of writing a full novel daunting or
perhaps no they have limited time and
    want the satisfaction are completing
something sooner rather than later a
novella also works for those writers who
feel they've got a good story but wonder
    perhaps doesn't suit the full-length
novel structure if a writer feels they
would be stretching their story adding
words just to get up to they're in quite
a length to be considered a novel
perhaps writing a novel that is an idea
that would sit far more comfortably with
them and next let's look at a novel and
no is the most common work of fiction
and most writers who set out to write a
book would commit themselves to write a
novel the length of a novel varies and
depends on the genre of the book fantasy
fiction and sci-fi novels tend to be
longer upwards of a hundred thousand
words where romance and general fiction
stories tend to be shorter a novel
usually contains a whole myriad of
    character scenes twists actions
decisions and subplots that take place
alongside the main story because of how
    long it is
it'll be read over days or weeks novels
ever and flow rise and fall and usually
take place over a longer period of time
the beauty of a novel is that it takes
the readers on a journey and invites
them into a world in which they can live
for a while all types of books of course
have similarities and give writers great
insight into how to put together a piece
of fiction writing that is a beginning
middle and end and involves characters
that readers can relate to and
    err about those who familiarize
themselves with a different book types
give themselves more options more room
to experiment with length and style and
ultimately can choose a book type to
suit their story rather than trying to
make their story fit into something not
quite right and that will result in a
better book on a story told exactly as
    it should be
what's not to like about that and don't
forget if it struggling to write or
finish your book our three writers tool
King can help with it you'll learn how
    to overcome procrastination get
    organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access now while it's still available
    simply go to

hi there welcome along to a writer's
    life experience
coming up for you this time how to be a
    successful self-published author
    becoming a successful self-published
    author is possible
it takes time effort and strategic
planning but if you are willing to
    dedicate yourself to your self-published
book success there's no reason why it
    can't happen for you
here's how be sure that self-publishing
is the right way to go being an indie
author is no picnic before you assume
    self-publishing is the way forward
    really research and understand the
process and what you need to do to make
it happen asking yourself how much time
you can dedicate to the process and how
much you're willing to learn and take on
board are both critical questions to
consider before you press publish next
decide how much you need or want some
urn self-publishing if done well can be
way more lucrative than the traditional
    model the money available to
    self-published authors is enormous and
if you treat your book like a business
and yourself as a brand you can come up
with proper workable strategies to sell
more books if you're happy to treat your
book sales as a pleasant side income
then that's okay too the point is you
need to be clear with yourself about
what your goals are so you can then
    figure out how to reach
it's a good idea to think about your
    writing going forward also
    self-published authors don't just stop
at one book so can you afford and do you
have the time to write say 1000 words a
day if you do you could finish around
five books a year the more you write the
more you'll have to sell and the more
potential your business has for profit
next write books that people want to
    read sounds simple right
a no-brainer the point is that most
    writers don't really honestly consider
what their reader is looking for they
write their story because they are so
passionate and desperate to have it
heard if you are honest with yourself
however you can be sure that there is an
audience out there clamoring to read it
probably not if you want to be a
    successful self-published author you
need to look at what people are reading
and trends in the market and so on then
do your research learn about the genre
follow the rules in the formulas and you
can produce something that already has
an audience ready and waiting to read it
next gather your fans to be successful
you need to gather readers you need to
find ways to get people excited about
your book before it even hits the
shelves do this by building an email
list getting active on social media
having a great author website all of
this takes time and preparation and
needs to be done well in advance of
publishing your novel next never stop
once you publish your novel you need to
keep working on it promote it
    continually keep researching where you
could tap into new audiences and most
importantly keep writing to a real
    writers job is
finished there is always more you can do
so work tirelessly and don't stop until
you are achieving the kind of success
you always dreamed of and don't forget
if you're struggling to write or for
this your book our free writers toolkit
can help with it you'll learn how to
    overcome procrastination get organized
    stay focused
find time to write and finally get your
book published to get access to it now

Hello and welcome to more tips and
advice from writers life my name's Peter
and coming up this time can you write a
book while working full-time let's take
a look so many of us have a dream to
complete a novel we have this great idea
for a story in our heads and desperately
want to write it down and share it with
    the world
however the practicalities of writing a
novel mean that for many their dream
never becomes a reality writing a novel
takes enormous amounts of dedication and
the time and energy a person needs to be
able to dedicate to their novel makes it
difficult to fit in around their already
busy lives many would-be writers believe
that if only they were able to quit
their job and write they could get that
novel written but doing so while also
    working full-time seems like an
impossible task however it can be done
here are some helpful strategies to help
you find more time to write and get your
first novel down even while working full
time first find out when you are most
productive some people can set their
alarms an hour earlier and find that
first thing in the morning they are full
of energy to write others can barely
open their eyes to get up in time for
work as it is that's okay
perhaps you can go to bed an hour later
    instead already exhausted
what about break times commuting time or
over lunch your life may seem pretty
full already but finding a time that
works around your schedule and where you
can be productive is possible it's all
about experimenting and then making that
part of your routine it may be that you
don't get the luxury of writing when you
want to but the point is that you can
find time to write if you are truly
    determined to do so
and next get your loved ones on board it
will be great to have a dedicated
writing room a place to get our thoughts
organized and let's our creative juices
flow but the reality is that might not
be possible still you can get those you
live with to support you and give you
space and time to write after work if
you've got kids you need to provide them
with attention when you get back from
work and you need to have quality time
with your partner too so make sure you
get home and do just that but then after
dinner when everyone else has settled
down to watch TV for the night or do
homework or whatever you claim that time
as your own even if it's just an hour
you'll be amazed at what you can get
done if your loved ones are all on board
and know that's the time you need to be
yourself to be productive and next give
some stuff up if you really can't find
the time in your schedule to write you
need to evaluate what is more important
to you are there things that you could
give up to give yourself time to write
making sacrifices like this may not be
easy but you'll find it so rewarding
when you start to realize your dream and
next truly dedicate yourself it's so
easy to make excuses and they may well
be valid ones but if writing a book is
important to you it needs to become a
priority if you push yourself and make a
proper commitment to writing anything is
possible you might think you are working
as hard as you can but if you are truly
    honest with yourself there's probably
something you could do to become more
    effective more efficient and push
yourself even further than you thought
possible next don't compare yourself to
others at the end of the day if you want
to write a book while working full time
you naturally can't expect to keep up
with those writers who can spend the
    entire day
their craft so keep things in
perspective and understand that while it
may take you longer to get there the
destination is still the same and will
feel just as good when you arrive do you
work and write at the same time share
your experiences and let us know how you
    make it work
and don't forget if he's struggling to
write or finish your book our free
writers toolkit can help with it you'll
    learn how to overcome procrastination
    get organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access now while it's still available
    simply go to
    that's it for now

Hello Everyone Peter here again from a
writer's life and coming up today five
    guaranteed methods to writing and
    feature articles writing feature
articles is a great skill and if done
well can make you a lot of money all
businesses can use feature articles on
their websites and as part of their
marketing plan and of course all
    publications need feature articles too
so there is no shortage of demand but
how do you learn to write great feature
articles once that you can pitch to
    publications or businesses and make
money from with these five simple tips
writing a feature article is easy and
they can be applied to any feature
article regardless of the subject which
therefore turns you into a brilliant and
versatile writer number one know your
audience this is so important and should
have a massive influence on the style of
writing the information you give the
language you use and so on if you aren't
clear about who you are targeting ask
the business or publication to clarify
or better still do your own research to
find out you need to understand why the
reader will come to that business for
    help
why they would choose to pick up on that
publication over all the others and what
are they searching for are they reading
for need or for pleasure are they
looking for specific information or just
to be entertained knowing your reader
inside out before you start writing will
help tailor your article so it not only
appeals to them but exactly the right
kind of content to help and satisfy them
    and next understand the point
before you begin writing your feature
article it's essential that you are
clear on what is purposes after your
reader has finished what do you expect
them to do next is there a desired
action or reaction that you need the
reader to have if so make sure your
writing is geared towards that and it's
persuasive and to the point next why
should your reader want to read this
step outside yourself for a moment think
about your target reader would they want
to read your article if so why if not
why not you need to understand what's in
    it for them
what benefits are there for the reader
and why they would come to you as the
source of these benefits or information
nowadays you'll be hard-pressed to find
a subject that hasn't been covered
elsewhere so unless you're writing about
    something incredibly niche or unusual
you need to come up with a fresh angle
or maybe alright in the absolute
authority on that particular topic next
plan your information before you start
    writing do your research
prepare your information and come up
with a structure of how your article
will flow if you're writing for the web
your style should be different to print
features this is because readers are far
more likely to skim read your
information therefore make sure you let
them know what it's all about from your
headline also bring the writing of into
essential points so they can quickly
absorb the information and next be ready
for questions it is now so much easier
for customers and readers to communicate
and voice their opinions once they are
finished with your piece pre prepared
for this and anticipate what questions
they might have nothing looks worse than
and I'm not sure response or worse just
silence readers are a lot more forgiving
if you are happy to respond to them
though if someone has been particularly
difficult you may want to move this
discussion away from the public eye by
asking them to contact you directly once
you've completed these steps then you've
done most of the hard work already
    therefore writing your articles should
    be a breeze
you'll be clear on tone style and voice
and purpose as well as having the
outline of your article already written
    so there you go
    interesting useful and engaging content
that will appeal to your target audience
and motivate them to act writing a
feature article done and dusted and

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello there Peter here again from
writers life coming up today a very very
important video I think so because I'm a
freelancer and what I'm gonna tell you
here is very very important so the title
of today's video is is going freelance
worth the risk there are lots of reasons
why someone might think it's a great
idea to become a freelance writer but at
the same time they must accept that in
doing so they are taking on a certain
amount of risk but is it worth it let's
weigh up the pros and the Condors first
feast and famine ah the old feast and
famine cycle of being a freelancer
sometimes you are inundated with work at
other times you are twiddling your
thumbs with lots of work comes the
    pressures of juggling different
    assignments and meeting deadlines
without it you worry that you can't pay
your bills it can be tough but making
sure you try to plan as much as possible
and make provisions to see you through
the more sparse times will help you
manage these are much better next stress
and deadlines as much as you might be
able to try and plan your work there are
always going to be times where you are
up against it and feeling the pressure
there's also the possibility of having
your work returned for amendments which
can lead to suddenly having less time
    than you thought
    and next managing your finances
as well as good time management it's
also essential to be good with money and
numbers if you want to be a successful
freelancer without being willing to do
the boring stuff as well you could soon
    find yourself in trouble managing
finances filling out tax returns and
contingency planning are all part of the
job our next building a client Menace
without a client base you'll end up
going from job to job never feeling any
    security and continually worrying about
work drying up building up a good client
base and a solid reputation is so
important however this takes time so
    successful freelancers need to be
willing to put the work in next no
holiday sick pay or mention remember if
you are ill you won't get paid and
probably won't get a lot of sympathy
from clients if you miss deadlines due
to sickness either you don't get any
paid holiday or a pension of any of the
comfortable perks of working a normal
job these are all things to take into
    consideration before going freelance
full-time so there you have it
being a freelance writer can bring you
fantastic benefits and freedom and can
be a great way to make a living as well
but in doing so you must be prepared for
the highs and the lows and times where
it might feel like you've made a mistake
at the end of the day if you stay
organized plan for all eventualities and
keep persevering it can be everything
you want it to be and an extremely
rewarding career - and don't forget if
it's struggling to write or finish your
book our free writer's toolkit can help
with it you'll learn how to overcome
    procrastination get organized stay first
    fine times
and finally get your book published to
get access now while it's still
    available simply go to

Hello there is Peter here again from
writers life and coming up today how to
get your self-published book into book
stores if you have self-published your
book you may be wondering what to do
    next
of course there's nothing better for an
author than seeing their work proudly
displayed in a book shop without a
publishing house taking on your work
    however this could be tricky
big bookstores rarely carry books that
    have been self-published or only
digitally put this may come as a
    disappointment to those thinking that
simply by their publisher offering the
book to the trade that it will be sold
in all the major bookstores in the
country the truth is however these large
chain bookstores only take on a small
number of books each year and in fact
even if your book was picked up by a
    smaller publishing house
it doesn't guarantee that your novel
will physically be available in the
shops however your dreams have seen your
book next to some of the country's Grace
doesn't have to be over just yet
    there are some alternative approaches
you can try that mean you can get your
book into book stores and change the
minds of the bigger book shops such as
Barnes & Noble and borders first get
practical in order for your book to be
sold via bookstores it needs certain
things firstly it must have an
    international standard book number by
SPN or a bar code and this should be
printed on the book cover filling out
    the advance book information
or the ABI means your book will be
listed in books in print this is the
    primary directory where booksellers
order their books so without this you
are unlikely to guess anywhere next get
professional you need to make sure your
book is printed to the highest standard
by this I mean get a professionally
designed book cover don't do it yourself
unless you're exceptional and design and
    have experience designing covers that
sell also make sure it's printed and
    bound correctly bookstores are unlikely
to stop comb bound or saddled stitched
at stapled books next understand your
book is a product just like any other
product it needs to be saleable the work
you need to do in order to write a book
itself should start before you even
begin writing make a business plan for
your book do some research around
similar books ask yourself why people
will want to buy it and who those people
are you need to be able to justify why
you think people or rather lots of
people will come into the bookstore and
buy your book otherwise it is just not
worth the shelf space next market your
book if you don't have the backing of a
huge publishing house behind you you're
going to have to sell it yourself build
up a following your fans organize a book
tour go to events do book signings send
press releases ask for reviews and use
social media to try and get your book
talked about in any way you can if you
can build a Pinterest your book just
might catch on and if you can prove how
well it is doing digitally you
well convinced big-box stores it is
worth taking it on in print next
negotiate give bookstores a good deal
they are unlikely to be willing to pay
more than half the cover price anyway
but if he can negotiate with them and
offer a good Commission rate they're
more likely to take a risk
offering sale or return could also help
this is where if your books don't sell
they will be returned to you and any
money paid refunded to the bookstore
this provides a guarantee that they
won't lose out by investing in you our
next go local if you aren't having any
look with larger book stores and try
local independent ones if you can sell
yourself as a local author particularly
if your book is based in the area or is
of interest to local people this will
give them more of a reason to stock it
remember that even if you don't get your
book into the stores it doesn't mean it
can't be a success and you should still
mark it and promote it any way you can
it can be daunting but if you follow
    these suggestions and keep persevering
then regardless if you make it into
bookstores or not you could still sell
your book and be proud of your
achievements and don't forget if you're
struggling to write or finish your book
our free writers toolkit can help with
it you'll learn how to overcome
    procrastination get organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access now while it's still available
    simply go to
    that's it for now

Hello there it's Peter here again from

writers life and coming up this time how

to create the perfect plot twist writing

great plot twists can be incredibly

effective but doing so it's not as easy

as you might think so here are some tips

to help you first get into the readers

mindset one of the most helpful things

any writer can do is to try to read

their story as if they didn't know it

a successful plot twist relies on the

    reader being shocked because something

unexpected happens but at the same time

the twist must be plausible by putting

yourself in the readers shoes you can

try to see what might be obvious and

discard these as potential plot twists

ideas the reader needs not to be able to

    second-guess the twist otherwise it'll

be ineffective so try to come up with

something that will ultimately take them

    by surprise

    next employ misdirection is

a smart device to help make plot twists

more powerful but it must be used with

    great subtlety otherwise readers will

    feel cheated

you can drop hints and make suggestions

that something is about to happen or

bring their attention to something or

plant red herrings to guide your reader

to believe something is coming and that

isn't then instead leave them gobsmacked

at the actual turn of events next leave

clues a plot twist can't come from

nowhere but a good one also won't be

guessed by your reader before it's

revealed how do you manage to balance

this by leaving extremely subtle hints

throughout your story these might be

    seemingly unimportant things that your

reader notices at the time but quickly

    for

and it's only when the twist is revealed

that they can join the dots and suddenly

see that it was right there in front of

them all along next make sure it's

necessary not all God's stories need a

plot twist so don't put one in just for

the sake of it a good plot twist is

essential to make the story work it's

believable and make sense a plot twist

that is too far-fetched will merely

leave your reader feeling confused and

cheated at the ending and they were

hoping for readers need their emotional

investment in your story to pay off if a

plot twist makes them feel deceived they

won't buy into it and he could risk

ruining your whole story next twist a

plot twist within a plot twist detective

fiction of crime novels often use the

clever device are presenting a plot

twist to the reader and then suddenly

    revealing another even more shocking

plot twist later on just when the reader

gets comfortable again and thinks all

    has been revealed

they are hits with an even more

    incredible revelation which leaves them

reeling but totally hooks to your every

word remember not every story has a

happy ending it's so easy to finish your

    story

with a happy hour vibe but sometimes

it's far more effective to create an

unhappy ending if your readers love your

    characters they probably want everything

to work out for them and if your plot

twist is that it doesn't this can be an

effective way of engaging with the

reader even if they shed a tear at the

end next don't run out of steam your

plot twist will probably be revealed

towards the end of your book but don't

invest all your creativity in a

mind-blowing plot twist only to then

have your story limp off into the night

    make sure you have enough

energy left to right a brilliant and

satisfying ending to if you want to make

your readers jaws drop use these tips

doing so will help to create your Matic

plot twists and keep your readers hopes

on your story until the very last word

and don't forget if you're struggling to

write or finish your book our free

writers toolkit can help with it you'll

    learn how to overcome procrastination

    get organized

stay focused fine types are right and

finally get your book published to get

access now while it's still available

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello there is Peter here a game from
writers life and today top tips to help
you focus one thing all writers need to
be able to have is more focus whether
you're working on the next chapter for
your kick-ass novel or pulling together
    information to write a hard-hitting
article it's imperative that you can
concentrate on the task in hand this is
however easier said than done many
writers discover that not only finding
time to sit down a write but doing so
    without distractions or other things
getting in the way is their number one
productivity problem so how do we teach
ourselves to be better app focusing here
are some useful tips and tip number one
is ditch the gadgets so you might need
your computer to write and you might
need the Internet to research but that
is it if possible try to gather all your
research together before you begin so
you can have blocks of time when all you
need to have an open on your computer
it's the document you're writing and
    that's it
switch off any notifications close your
email and perhaps most importantly turn
off your mobile phone next take some
proper time out scoffing down some lunch
in our desks isn't the way to keep us
    focused and product
you may feel as though it's better to
try to keep working but without regular
breaks in different settings we soon
tire and that's when our focus begins to
wander go outside take a walk look at
some beautiful things get some fresh air
do whatever you can to switch off for a
while and you'll return to work feeling
refreshed and ready to concentrate on
    the task at hand
next make boring tasks interesting it
can be challenging to remain focused if
we find out what we are doing boring or
repetitive in writing there may be parts
that you don't love such as editing for
example the key to staying focused is to
find ways to make these tasks more
stimulating this may be as simple as
changing your setting do all your
editing in a great cafe for example
listening to some upbeat music or only
doing short bursts before switching to
something else our next tip motivating
yourself another key to keep in focus is
to stay upbeat and positive keep telling
yourself that you can complete what you
need to do imagine how you'll feel at
the end of a productive day and you can
even come up with a reward system to
bribe yourself into working harder and
achieving your goals next break things
down work out what you need to do and
when stay organized creator to-do list
each day and tackle the harder more
    time-consuming tasks first otherwise
    you'll avoid them until you've
    conveniently run out of time
be wary of multitasking is our next step
well multitasking can be an effective
way of making progress on several
different aspects of your writing if you
tried to juggle too much you will
    increase the likelihood of getting
muddled and feeling as though you have
made no progress and are doing nothing
well next ask yourself helpful questions
sometimes to keep focused we need to
remind ourselves why a task is necessary
before you start working ask yourself
the following but do I need to do why do
I need to do this what do I hope to gain
from doing this what do I need to do to
complete this when will I finish this
doing so will help to summarize why the
task is important and exactly what you
need to do to complete it successfully
these tips can help writers stay
positive productive and happy so next
time you fill your attention wandering
use these techniques to remain focused
on the task at hand and you'll feel so
much better for it and don't forget if
you're struggling some rides or finish
your book our free writers talking can
help with it you'll learn how to
    overcome procrastination get organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access now while it's still available
    simply go to
    that's it

for now be sure to give us a thumbs up
and subscribe to our channel for more

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello again is Peter here again from a
writer's life and coming up today how
does social media affect our writing the
way we access our information has
changed hugely over the past decade or
so writers have been told time and time
    again that readers have increasingly
short attention spans we also know that
    competition for the reader's attention
is more intense than ever before the
rise of social media has dramatically
affected the way that readers access
information and absorb it a considerable
number of people who used to sit back
with a newspaper or book now get their
    information and entertainment via a
screen but how does this affect the way
that writers write should we adapt our
writings so they can be consumed by this
hugely yet distracted audience in a
different way the answer is both yes and
no there are always going to be readers
who want to indulge in the pleasure of
reading how it used to be those who are
looking for a riveting tale to get lost
in as they sip cocktails on a Sun
Lounger on holiday all those who are
travelling to faraway lands and want a
fantastic inspiring story they can read
as they embark on epic journeys across
the globe however there is a vast market
ready and waiting to lap about writing
online if it's presented to them in the
right way we scroll throughout Facebook
feeds and click on things that pop up
    that look interesting too
    so writing attention drumming headlines
is vital we read tweets where you are
restricted in how much you can reveal so
to be effective you must be able to say
what you want to say in a limited number
of words we looked at Instagram where
you can create stories through a
collection of images that must work as
one to create a lasting impression on
the observer writers don't have to
change the way they write but if they
want to make an impact on social media
they have to adapt and conform to its
limitations and its opportunities to a
21st century writer must be flexible and
willing to learn how to manage social
media and use it to their advantage
teaching ourselves how to write short
    impactful sentences can ensure our
readers remain focused learning how to
turn the heads of readers whose
attention was elsewhere and get them to
lean in and to want to learn or can
increase our fans and followers by
    significant numbers discovering new
trends and creating our own and pitching
    new ideas bringing something fresh
    exciting and relatable to these
platforms will give us a voice that
stands out engaging with social media as
a writer may mean adapting one's writing
to communicate better via these avenues
these days avoiding social media only
makes our job harder and while our ideal
readers might be those sipping cocktails
under an umbrella with all the time in
the world on the hands if we don't try
to engage with the others we are
    dismissing a significant potential
    readership
who could be our next and biggest fans

hello there is pizza here again from
writers life and coming up today is
being a perfectionist holding you back
writers are well known for being
perfectionist and why not writing a
novel to be proud of takes considerable
time and effort and wanting to get it
    absolutely right
before you send it to publishers or
share it with the world makes good sense
however there is a downsides of
perfectionism if taken to the extreme
while it's great to be contentious and
thorough in your work if you won't let
it go until there's a hundred percent
perfect you're going to come up with a
    rather significant problem the problem
is no piece of writing is perfect that's
the truth of the matter even the most
    well-received novels and celebrated
writers don't write perfect stories and
they certainly don't start out anything
near that way if you keep holding on to
the idea that you can make your story
perfect you'll never ever finish it so
    how to recognize perfectionist behavior
and what to do about it if you're too
self-critical if you never share your
work if you edit your work so much that
you want even sure if you're making it
    any better
you may well be a perfectionist here
then are some tips to help you get past
this first get your first draft written
tell yourself that you can perfect your
writing later and then focus all your
energy on getting that first draft now
if you can put aside your aspirations of
perfection until your first draft is
finished at least you've got the ground
    load without letting your
factionism get in the way next be
    realistic expense rejection expect to
feel uncertain expect to look back at
    something you've written and feel
shocked and how bad it is this is all
    completely normal
the reality is that most writers will
    experience rejection and criticism and
that's okay if you can be realistic
about this and not let the fear of it
happening to you block you from getting
your work out there you will at least be
able to say you gave it everything be
willing to learn there are always
lessons to be learned when it comes to
writing from tips on how to improve your
prose to information about the writing
industry be open to learning as much as
    you can
    perfectionists often struggle with
feedback and advice so trying to open up
    to learning experimenting and absorbing
input for others can be so helpful keep
practicing the more you write the better
you get but also the more you write the
more you will become used to the
    imperfections in your writing keep
producing material keep tweaking it keep
adjusting and reworking and editing and
learn and grow as a writer and editor as
you do so learn when to stop accepting
that a perfect piece of writing doesn't
exist is the first step it's usually
important to work on our manuscripts
until we've created the world the caring
system the plot that we feel does our
story justice it's essential to redraft
and edit to these processes take time
and effort and can be very challenging
however this hard work is not to be
    confused with perfectionism knowing when
to stop when you've done enough and when
    you can be proud
satisfied with what you've achieved is
so important as JK Rowling once said
failure gave me an inner security that I
had never been said by passing
    examinations failure taught me things
about myself that I could have learned
no other way embrace failure accept your
flaws and let go of perfectionism and
you'll be a more productive and happier
writer for it and don't forget if you're
struggling to write or finish your book
our free writers talking can help with
it you'll learn how to overcome
    procrastination get organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published to get
access now while it's still available

Hello Peter here again from writers
life coming up today how to find the
perfect person to critique your book one
of the most important things that any
rights you can do for themselves is get
some feedback on that word it might be
scary and hugely daunting to let someone
    else read what you've written
however the sooner you get initial
feedback the better writers who choose
not to share their work with anyone run
the risk of writing an entire novel only
for someone to point out a fundamental
mistake we are often so immersed in our
stories that we can't see the flaws that
may be apparent to other people getting
    feedback also helps the writer
understand what they need to work on
where they might need to rethink plot
    points whether their characters are
working and what the good and
not-so-good bits are of course you don't
have to take every point on board but
without getting someone to critique your
work you can't be sure you are heading
in the right direction but who should
    you choose it's effortless
not to mention convenient to pick a
person who you know will give you a
glowing report your best friend your mom
that person that you know has a massive
crush on you someone who owes you a
    favor
    however getting feedback about your
writing is pointless unless you know
it's a genuine an honest review of your
so here's how to find the perfect person
to ratite your work first someone who
knows you there's nothing wrong with
asking someone who knows you to critique
your work but if you do need to do that
make sure that your relationship with
that person doesn't get in the way of
how they honestly feel about your work
if you know that they are the kind of
person that couldn't bear to hurt your
feelings then there isn't really any
point someone who knows you will want to
like your book and we'll look for
positives and words of encouragement and
there is nothing wrong with that as long
as they can constructively and point out
where you need to change things to a
next a stranger finding someone who
doesn't know you to see your work can be
a way of knowing for sure you're getting
an honest opinion a person who doesn't
know you has nothing to lose by telling
you the brutal truth about your book
there are many writing forums out there
where writers can exchange their work
and give one another feedback of course
most have rules about giving criticism
only if it's constructive so you don't
have to worry about someone being too
cruel simultaneously be prepared to hear
perhaps things you don't want to next a
    professional getting a professional
editor to receive your work is ideal
they have the experience knowledge and
skill to give you a thorough and
in-depth review of what needs to change
what works and what doesn't however
unless you happen to be connected with
someone in the industry you're likely to
    have to pay
service annexed a group joining a
writing group can be hugely beneficial
for so many reasons one of them is that
you get to share your work with a group
of fellow writers who know exactly how
to give useful feedback then you can
choose to take on board or not joining a
writing group also means you get several
    different options which is always
helpful to a next your readers if you
    already have an established readership
an email list or fan base why not test
out your new work on them they'll be
more than happy to give you their
opinion and are worth listening to as
they are the ones most likely to buy
your book after all whoever you choose
to critique your book make sure that you
do it early on and don't just do it once
either the more feedback you get the
more you can rest assured that you are
on the right track that there is a
readership out there and ultimately that
you are giving your book the very best
chance of success and don't forget if
you're struggling to write or finish
your book our free writers toolkit can
help with it you'll learn how to
    overcome procrastination get organized
stay focused find time to write and
finally get your book published through
