When considering careers or preparing for a career change, we oftentimes want to be as certain as possible we're pursuing a field that'll offer strong opportunities for employment as well as opportunities for growth and promotion into new positions with greater pay. Even when we do our research and choose a career with strong indicators of continuous growth, however, this still doesn't mean that our success is guaranteed.

In today's episode we review a couple of examples in which industries traditionally known for their security have actually had to lay employees off due to unforeseen circumstances caused by the economy. Then, we discuss a planning strategy beyond just considering job outlook that will help protect your career pursuits in the years to come.

Das Jahr 2020 neigt sich dem Ende entgegen. Für die Logistiker eigentlich ein sehr gutes Jahr. Und das Jahresende ist zumindest mal ein bisschen weniger stressig als sonst, da die Feierabend mit einem Wochenende zusammen fallen. Was den Arbeitnehmer sonst eher stört ist für den Logistiker ein Segen, da jeder zusätzliche Ausliefertag das Weihnachtsgeschäft entzerrt. Letztlich sind wir aber auch alle Arbeitnehmer und freuen uns über die freie Zeit. In der heutigen recht kurzen Folge sprechen wir über die Möglichkeiten sich in der Zeit einmal mit sich selbst zu beschäftigen. Wir beide sind große Freunde des Rückblicks, aber auch der Planung. Und typischerweise nutzen wir die Zeit zwischen den Jahren ebenso wie viele andere Menschen genau dafür. Andreas verfolgt hier einen sehr offenen Ansatz und stellt sich folgende Fragen: Was lief die letzten 12 Monate erfolgreich? Was könnte (s)ich verbessern? Was will ich erreichen und welche Ziele muss ich mir dafür setzen? Sehr ähnlich, aber ein wenig geführter geht Tobias an der Stelle vor. Er nutzt dazu den kostenlosen YearCompass, der ein paar mehr Fragen stellt. Ihm fällt es damit einfacher eine Struktur einzuhalten und als jemand, der sehr gerne plant, ist diese Planung für das kommende Jahr auch ein wenig enger gehalten.
