Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)

    Hour 1

The Broncos are releasing Russell Wilson and will need to start over at the quarterback position in the NFL draft. We talked about JJ McCarthy’s stock going up as we get closer to the draft. He’s been linked to the Giants. Rich Eisen said the Giants are done with Daniel Jones and have buyer’s remorse. Kirk Cousins has also been linked to the Falcons, as has Justin Fields. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of Jason Kelce retiring. He got all choked up. Jerry went around the NBA and the NHL last night. Zack Wheeler met the media after signing a huge extension with the Phillies. In the final segment of the hour, what will Jason Kelce do in his retirement? Will he be a studio analyst during the NFL season? Maybe he would be good as a color analyst.

    Hour 2

Boomer watched the movie ‘Saltburn’ and found it really twisted and weird. The Mets will be debuting a dance team this year. When will the Mets highlight the dance team? Gio remembers a male member of the St. John’s dance team who was a little thick but all in. A caller wonders about the Rangers at the trade deadline. A caller wonders why Big Zoo wouldn’t try out for the Mets dance team. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco talking about Russell Wilson being released by the Broncos. Jerry has audio from Jason Kelce’s retirement press conference. He cried his way through it. Charles Barkley is not a fan of people wearing Donald Trump mugshot t-shirts. In the final segment of the hour, a caller wonders if the Giants should bring in Russell Wilson for cheap. A caller wonders what Boomer’s motivation is to keep getting up early for radio and giving up weekends during football season. Boomer said it’s a great platform for The Boomer Esiason Foundation which is very important to him.

    Hour 3

A moose attacked an iditarod team and the musher had to kill and gut the moose. We talked about how large Moose really are when you are up close and personal with them. Remember that time when Mike Francesa said he ‘met’ Secretariat? Jerry returns for an update and starts with Jason Kelce retiring and crying his way through his speech. Braylon Edwards saved an 80 year old man from getting beat up by a 25 year old in a YMCA locker room. Tommy Luguaer called Evan Roberts an ass for celebrating the Jalen Brunson injury in a group text. Chris Russo gave his Mt Rushmore of sports media people. In the final segment of the hour, Shinesty, the ball hammock underwear company, sent us some products. A caller wonders if Boomer could still beat up a 25 year old if he had to. We also talked about Evan dying his beard every day for the next 3 weeks.

    Hour 4

A caller just returned from Mets spring training and said if they don’t sign Pete Alonso, he might just root for the team he goes to. He also said he has a 7-foot son. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with audio of Jason Kelce’s speech from his retirement press conference. The Moment of The Day involves an ill-Boomer, the Rangers and Boomer’s take on Devils fans. In the final segment of the show, Gio contacted someone at the Mets about getting Big Zoo out to Citi-field to perform with the new Mets team. Callers continue to say Gio is not good at golf. Gio agrees, but he’s getting better every time he plays. Gio doesn’t brag about playing great. He just started golf about a year ago.

Moose Attacks Iditarod Team - Finds Out; More From Jason Kelce Retirement; Braylon Edwards The Hero; Evan Roberts Celebrates Injuries; Ball Hammock Delivery (Hour 3)

The Week That Was and That Will Be - October 9

The Week That Was and That Will Be - October 9

There's never a dull moment in Burbank, and the latest episode of Burbank Talks is no exception. We delve into a range of hot topics, from a potential lawsuit against the city to community bonding events and our local culture.

At the heart of the episode is a detailed discussion on a potential lawsuit against Burbank involving a character named Nick Gutierrez. This mysterious figure and his voting rights could alter the city's voting system forever. The intricacies of this case are examined meticulously, raising questions about voter validation and previous election participation. The low voter turnout in Burbank also comes under scrutiny as we brainstorm ways to boost civic engagement.

But it's not all serious legal talk. The episode also highlights some heartwarming local events. We recount the touching story of a woman facing eviction and the incredible outpouring of support she received from the Burbank community, defying language barriers. From the Burbank Sports Federation induction ceremony to the FSA Gala, the episode captures the spirit of community cohesion and the ways we come together to support worthy causes.

We also take a playful turn, exploring the potential of the Greenhouse Arts and Media Program and pondering new construction projects that could add a cultural flourish to Burbank. The possibilities are endless and the potential for growth is exciting.

The conversation doesn't stop there. We delve into noteworthy updates on city events and local developments, discussing the Burbank Center Stage Theater situation and the transparent proposal process for public facilities. We tout the State of the City address and Vice Mayor Nick Schultz's appearance.

Despite the range of topics, everything circles back to our beloved Burbank community. The bonds we share, the challenges we face, and the dreams we harbor for our city are at the core of the conversation. The episode paints a vivid picture of Burbank's civic spirit, community cohesion, and cultural vibrancy, offering a deep dive into what makes Burbank special.

Burbank Talks offers an insightful look into the heart of our community, shedding light on critical issues, highlighting our collective triumphs, and fostering a sense of community engagement. This episode serves as a reminder that we are more than just residents of a city; we are a community bound by shared experiences, common goals, and a deep love for our city.

The Week That Was and That Will Be - October 2

The Week That Was and That Will Be - October 2

Urban issues are complex and multi-faceted, often impacting communities in ways we don't always recognize. From public safety protocols to fast food politics, our cities are a hotbed of discussion and debate. In this episode, we dive deep into these topics, exploring how they shape our communities, particularly focusing on Burbank.

Encryption of police radios is one such issue that has wide-reaching effects. As technology evolves, so too does the way we communicate. Police departments are increasingly encrypting their radio communications, a move that has implications for the media and the public's access to public safety information. While encryption can certainly enhance security, it also presents challenges. For instance, it can potentially hamper the interoperability of communication systems during joint operations. This is a significant consideration, particularly in scenarios where mutual aid is needed.

A seemingly unrelated but equally important urban issue is the politics surrounding drive-thru restaurants. This episode takes a closer look at how establishments like In-N-Out Burger and Raising Kane’s influence city politics. Drive-thrus are a staple of American fast food culture, but they also bring with them unique challenges and considerations. From zoning laws to traffic congestion, the implications of drive-thrus on urban planning and community development are substantial.

This episode also sheds light on the impact of Senate Bills 2 and 368 on gun store owners. These pieces of legislation impose specific requirements on gun store owners, affecting the way they operate their businesses. Understanding the details of these laws, such as the prohibition of gun stores holding contests or raffles, can provide insight into the broader conversation about gun control and public safety.

In addition to these serious issues, the episode also celebrates local Burbank events and awards. From the gym ribbon cutting on Magnolia Boulevard to the spotlight awards honoring Joe McCarthy of Disney and Sally Chan from Warner Bros., we revel in the positive developments in the community. Community events are a crucial part of city life, fostering a sense of togetherness and shared identity among residents.

The episode also covers updates on the My Burbank website and the upcoming Johnny Carson Parkshade structure. It delves into the Burbank City Council's decision to waive bus fares for California Clean Air Day, discussing the potential impact of this move on public transportation. Furthermore, the episode takes listeners behind the scenes of local events like the USPS job fair and the Family Service Agencies gala.

In conclusion, this episode serves as a microcosm of urban issues, providing an in-depth look at the complexities of city life. From public safety and fast food politics to community events and local legislation, we unpack the intricacies of urban living, with a particular focus on Burbank. Tune in for a fascinating exploration of these topics and more.
