With just two weeks into the new year, as we cross the middle of the month,  we start to shape our resolution for the new year, making plans, creating strategies, and more. While these are great in molding a better you & me for this year, there is a question I must ask 'Are you molding your relationship with #Jesus #Christ for #2024?

It's a fair question, only you can answer that for yourself, honestly. My next question is, 'What’s going on with your heart? Not physically, but spiritually? This week's message is Believe! What do you believe? Do you believe there is a God? Do you believe #heaven is real? Do you believe there is no #hell?  Do you believe you will be a millionaire or billionaire tomorrow? Do you believe he is for you or she is for you? Questions with some or maybe no answer! However the truth is in the bible, so let's search for it in Luke 1: 1-38. The truth is. we all have some gut feelings and some beliefs, but, we all need confirmation,  something to happen, for us to confirm our thoughts and then we believe.

Zechariah did not believe when the angel told him that his wife was going to have a baby! Here is a man who served in the church, and followed all the protocols or practices within the #church, I call it a form of worship, but he did not believe in God! You may ask how can this be? Sometimes people who serve God can be in doubt, and that leads to a lack of faith in God.

Zachariah was righteous, blameless, and walked with #God but did not believe. Many of us are like that, so let's change this and see this example of what happened centuries ago, so we can follow God for real. This week, join me for part one of this powerful message where the angel delivered the same message twice, one believed and the second family, or #Zachariah did not believe and he was made dumb for nine months.

This is a message to share with friends and family, so we can all prove to the #Creator that we believe in his plan, we believe his son who died for us, we believe he rose again, and we believe he is coming back! Join me now and let us #Believe!

Ash Wednesday service, starting a sermon series on the prophet Zechariah called "Your Kingdom Come" First Things First (Zechariah 1:1-6)

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. - Zechariah 4:6

When Zerubbabel become the governor of Judea, God gave him an impossible assignment. He was to rebuild the temple that had been destroyed by the Babylonians. When King Solomon had built the temple he had almost unlimited resources. His father King David had spent years setting aside building materials for the temple. King Solomon was one of the richest kings who had ever lived and had incredible wealth and resources at his disposal.

Zerubbabel was leading a group of people who had been recently set free from captivity. They had no wealth, no resources, and no way of rebuilding the temple. God sent the prophet Zechariah with a word for Zerubbabel. It wasn’t about his power, his resources, or even his determination that would bring about success. It was the Spirit of God that would enable and empower Zerubbabel and his people to accomplish the job God had chosen him for. 

When God gives you an assignment, He always provides all you need to accomplish it. Is there something God has told you to do, but it seems like a mountain before you?

The prophet equated the job of building the temple like a mountain before them. At times we all face mountains. Jesus said with just a little faith, you can speak to the mountain and it will move.

He is the founder of Cactus Advisors – a specialist corporate finance advisory firm and micro VC fund specializing in high growth, high impact African tech ventures. Zach is a prominent Angel investor in several of Africa’s leading tech startups including Flutterwave, HouseME, Recomed and several others. He was featured on the cover of Fast Company South Africa in May 2018.

Zach was formerly the head of Africa Investments for U-Start – the largest network of private Multi-Family offices in Europe. Prior to moving to South Africa, he was an investment banker on Wall Street covering mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance strategy and risk management at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital, New York.

Zach has a Master’s degree in Finance & Management from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.

Outside of his professional life, Zach is a father to 3 children and is an acoustic guitarist/vocalist with cover albums ‘Give A Little’ (2010) and ‘Humans with Hearts’ (2018) on iTunes and Spotify. He is an avid lover of theater and the performing arts likes hiking and a good game of tennis and squash. He enjoys creative writing and is currently busy finishing a work of non-fiction.
