5 Things Holding You Back From Achieving Your Dreams w/ Shaolin Master Shi Heng Yi EP 1428

    enApril 24, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • Taking Charge of Your Mindset for SuccessBy controlling your own thoughts and actions, you can unlock your potential and achieve greatness. Use exercises and toolkits to create a plan and compensate for weaknesses. Be confident, observe, listen, and avoid meaningless topics.

Taking charge of your mindset allows you to be in the driver's seat of your life and unlock your potential. Lewis Howes' book, 'The Greatness Mindset', provides powerful exercises and toolkits to help you build a plan for greatness. You cannot change the people around you, but you can control what is in your own head. Use your voice to explain your thoughts, feelings and actions, and find ways to compensate for your weaknesses. Success is not always about straight-line movements; it requires different methods and philosophies. Confidence comes from observing people, listening, and being open to discussion. It is important to recognize when a topic is meaningless or superficial, and to avoid wasting time on it.

    • Overcoming Restlessness, Doubt, and Lack of Authenticity for Deeper Insight and Better RelationshipsFocusing on one thing at a time, trusting ourselves, and being present in the moment can help us overcome restlessness, doubt, and lack of authenticity, leading to deeper understanding and stronger relationships.

Restlessness can hinder us from obtaining deeper insights and reaching our goals as it makes us jump from one thing to another without focusing on anything specific. It can also affect our relationships with others, making us appear uninterested and unengaged. Skeptical doubt can also hold us back, but trusting in ourselves and what we do can help overcome it. Authenticity is important when speaking publicly or expressing ourselves, as we should only talk about things that come from within us. Practicing discipline and focusing on one thing specifically can lead to deeper understanding and insight, rather than just scratching the surface. We should strive to be present in the moment and pay attention to the people around us, giving them the respect and attention they deserve.

    • Overcoming hindrances to achieve your goalsUse the RAIN method to recognize, analyze, accept, and investigate hindrances. Acceptance is key to making changes. Continuously develop and educate yourself, observe yourself, and be honest to overcome hindrances and achieve goals.

Once you have developed a plan and assessed the risks, don't let skeptical doubt stop you from pursuing it. Spend 99% of your time in a relaxed state, but in the 1% where you take action, there is no compromise. To overcome hindrances, use the RAIN method: recognize and realize the hindrance, analyze it, accept and acknowledge it, and investigate it further to understand its root cause. Accepting the hindrance is key to being able to change it, as resisting it will only keep it outside of you. By continuously developing and educating yourself, observing yourself, and being honest with yourself, you can overcome hindrances and achieve your goals.

    • Acknowledge and Understand Your Business for Positive ChangeTake time to investigate and accept your own business to initiate change. Prioritize your own visions and goals, but ensure they are not based solely on external factors. Connect both earthly and heavenly aspects for successful manifestation.

Acknowledge and accept your own business to bring about change. Investigate and ask questions to understand it better. Practice non-identification to stand above and support yourself. It is important to pursue your own visions and goals but make sure they come from within and not based on external factors. The heaven man earth concept implies that humans have both an earthly and heavenly connection which can help in manifesting dreams. Earthly aspects refer to seeing things with a shape while heavenly connections refer to intangible aspects such as creativity and emotions.

    • The Limitations of our Body and the Power of our MindTake care of your body with proper nutrition while being mindful of the power of your thoughts. Use a step-by-step plan and identify necessary skills to achieve your goals.

Our physical body is based on individual aspects from the earth which are already limited, making our body limited as well. Therefore, it is important to take care of everything that comes from the earth such as food and drinks in order to improve the quality of our body. On the other hand, our mind has something similar to the borderless nature of the sky as it can create things that are not yet real. Therefore, we need to be careful about what we project onto our mind as it can become powerful and affect our feelings. To turn our thoughts into reality, we need a step-by-step plan and find ways to give them expression such as writing or speaking about them. It is also important to identify the necessary skills to achieve our goals.

    • Understanding Your Starting Point and What It Takes for SuccessBefore pursuing any goal, assess your resources and starting point. Develop unique abilities through consistent effort and a growth mindset. Overcome mistakes and master your current level to be ready for new opportunities.

Before embarking on any journey or goal, it is important to first understand our current location and abilities. This includes assessing our available time and resources. The journey will be different for each person, depending on their starting point and previous experiences. The key to success is attaining skills through hard work and consistent effort. It is not about outsourcing skills, but rather developing unique abilities that cannot be replicated by anyone else. This requires a combination of discipline, willpower, and mindset to back up our battle plan. Many people fail to manifest their goals because they have not yet overcome their previous mistakes or mastered the level they are at. It is important to be willing to learn and ask different questions in order to become ready for new opportunities and growth.

    • The Importance of Striving for Goals and Finding Contentment. The journey to enlightenment can be unique for each individual, and should involve a balance between setting and achieving goals, while also finding contentment with what one already has.

The question of what happens after death is only asked by individuals who have developed their minds to a certain level. Failure is necessary for growth and the timing of each person's lesson is unique. Optimizing and constantly striving for goals can lead to a feeling of incompleteness. The Buddhist teachings focus on stripping away external influences to uncover what one truly is, rather than constantly adding to one's cup. It is important to recognize the balance between striving for goals and being content with what one has in order to achieve true fulfillment in life.

    • The Importance of Emptying the Cup for Finding Balance and ManifestationLet go of preconceptions and affirm your personal goal to fuel daily actions. Balance physical health and emotional well-being to strengthen yourself for a life of openness, love, and compassion.

Buddhi emphasizes the importance of emptying the cup to truly understand one's essence and who they are. One should learn to let go and empty their cup to balance attaining and getting rid. Affirmation is essential to fuel actions and gives power to daily actions. One must have an affirmation that should fuel their actions by connecting it with a personal goal. Balance is the key to harden oneself and being open, loving and compassionate. A healthy body is crucial to taking practical steps towards manifesting one's desires.

    • Taking Care of Your Body, Finding Mentors, and Prioritizing Your Life for SuccessTo achieve your goals, focus on physical health, learn from those who have mastered the skills you want, and prioritize what's important in your life. Mentors and teachers can help guide you.

In order to achieve greatness and accomplish your goals, taking care of your body and finding physical activities that make you performant is important. Surrounding yourself with people who have already mastered the skills you want to achieve can also help in gaining confidence and reaching your potential. Acknowledging that there is a hierarchy when it comes to knowledge and skills is necessary to learn and grow. Mentors and teachers can guide you and help you develop the necessary skills. Additionally, knowing what is important and unimportant in your life can also help in prioritizing and achieving your goals.

    • The Importance of Balance and Mind Development through Cycles and GratefulnessTo achieve balance, focus on one thing at a time in cycles for deeper change. Also practice gratefulness by recalling moments and breathing into the feeling for growth.

In order to achieve balance, it is important to consciously do something that may be perceived as unimportant, as this keeps you open-minded and receptive. While focus is important, switching between different states of mind is also crucial for mind development. One effective method is to work in cycles and focus on one thing for a certain period of time. The deeper the change you want to make, the longer the cycles need to be. Therefore, it is not advisable to spread out your focus on too many things at the same time, as this may not penetrate deep enough for a lasting impression. It is also important to practice the feeling of hard qualities, such as gratefulness. For this, it is helpful to recall moments in your life where you felt grateful and breathe into the feeling to make it grow.

    • Cultivating Gratitude for Abundance and Personal GrowthGratitude is a powerful tool for manifesting what we want in life. Invest in personal growth and daily practice of gratitude. Sheldon Temple's program combines mental and physical training for a better life.

Gratitude is the key to abundance and a beautiful life. It can be cultivated through intention and self-development, and is essential for manifesting what we truly want. It is also important to focus on ourselves and invest in personal growth, rather than trying to change others. The teachings of ancient traditions can help with this cultivation, and daily practice of gratitude is beneficial. Sheldon Temple offers a 12-month program that combines mental and physical training for those seeking to improve their lives. If we could only leave behind three lessons for the world, one of them should be to practice gratitude and cultivate it within ourselves.

    • Self-Mastery and Giving Back: Lessons from a Shaolin MasterPrioritize self-development, seek diverse experiences but put them into practice, prioritize community support, and embrace the interconnectedness of nature while remaining open to learning from the world around us.

Shaolin Master emphasizes on self-mastery as that is the ultimate key to impact beyond oneself. He explains how it is important to give back and develop oneself in order to receive from the world. He acknowledges the need to learn from different people and experiences but emphasizes that one needs to put it into practice to attain greatness. One of his key messages is about keeping the community, where it is more important to have a backup if one is not right rather than always striving to be right. His second message revolves around a flower in a pot where it symbolizes the history and future of the flower and how the care is integrated, and nature is interconnected without the need for words to explain. Finally, he notes how everything is repeating and that one needs to be open to learning and experiencing from the world around them.
