    • Maintaining balance in relationshipsCommunicate openly, prioritize personal happiness, and consider new experiences to keep relationships exciting and fulfilling.

Having a balance in relationships is important. It's nice to have shared experiences and routines, but it's also beneficial to have personal time and independence. In the bedroom, if one partner is feeling unfulfilled, it's essential to communicate openly and consider exploring new experiences together or individually. Rigid routines and expectations may lead to dissatisfaction, and it's important to prioritize personal happiness and growth. Ultimately, relationships should bring excitement, fulfillment, and mutual respect. If these elements are missing, it may be necessary to reevaluate the relationship or seek outside experiences to satisfy individual needs.

    • Considering Past Infidelity in a RelationshipTrust your intuition and evaluate if constant thoughts of other partners indicate dissatisfaction. Weigh the potential consequences before disclosing past infidelity.

It's important to listen to your intuition and make decisions based on what feels right for you in a relationship. The speaker in this conversation was contemplating the possibility of her friend's past infidelity and whether she should disclose it to her friend. She acknowledged that everyone's situation is unique, but she believed that if someone is constantly thinking about other potential partners, it might be a sign that they're not fully satisfied in their current relationship. The speaker also emphasized the importance of considering the potential consequences of staying in an unsatisfying relationship, as it could potentially lead to further disloyalty. Ultimately, she encouraged being honest with oneself and considering the impact on all parties involved before making a decision.

    • Friendships and Secrets: When to Share and When to Keep QuietConsider the dynamics of your friendships and potential harm before sharing a friend's secret. Approach the situation with sensitivity and empathy, and prioritize honesty and trust in strong relationships.

The decision to disclose a friend's secret depends on the dynamics of the friendships involved and the potential for causing drama. If the friendship is strong and open, it might be worth sharing the information to maintain trust and honesty. However, if the friendship is not close or if disclosing the secret could cause significant harm, it might be best to keep the secret to yourself. Ultimately, the decision should be based on what feels right for you and what aligns with your values and priorities. Additionally, it's important to consider the potential consequences of sharing a secret, including how the person whose secret is being shared might react and how it could impact your relationships with others involved. It's also crucial to be sensitive to the feelings and emotions of all parties involved and to approach the situation with empathy and compassion. In the first scenario discussed, the speaker was unsure whether to disclose a friend's past infidelity to another friend. They weighed the potential drama against the importance of honesty and ultimately decided that it depended on the dynamics of their friendships. In the second scenario, a woman was concerned about her boyfriend's comments implying that he had slept with other women and how it was making her feel insecure in their relationship. She considered sharing her concerns with him and ultimately decided to have an open and honest conversation about their relationship and her feelings.

    • Understanding Sexual Differences in RelationshipsEffective communication and understanding are essential in addressing sexual differences in relationships. Everyone's sexual needs and desires vary, and it's important to approach conversations with compassion and openness.

Communication and understanding are key in addressing sexual differences in relationships. The speaker in the text shares her concern about her boyfriend's decreased sexual interest, which she believes may be due to a lower libido or porn addiction. However, after discussing her thoughts with friends, she comes to the conclusion that he might feel insecure and embarrassed about his libido. The speaker also acknowledges that her high sex drive is not typical for all men and that she may need to adjust her expectations or have an open conversation with her partner about their sexual needs and desires. Ultimately, the speaker suggests that understanding and compassion are crucial in navigating these situations, as everyone's sexual needs and desires vary.

    • Respect and Communication in Sexual RelationshipsRespect boundaries, communicate desires, and find balance to maintain a healthy and satisfying sexual relationship.

Communication is key in a sexual relationship. However, the way it is approached can greatly impact the outcome. Pressuring or insensitive requests can lead to discomfort and negatively affect the relationship. It's essential to respect each other's boundaries and sexual desires. If there's a significant disparity in libido, it may require a conversation to find a solution or acceptance. Ultimately, every individual's sexual needs and desires are unique, and open communication is necessary to maintain a healthy and satisfying sexual relationship. Additionally, the discussion touched on the idea that sex can become a source of stress and overthinking, making it essential to find a balance and prioritize other aspects of the relationship.

    • Handling unexpected events with positivity and flexibilityUnexpected events can cause stress and setbacks, but maintaining a positive attitude and staying flexible can help turn the situation around. Be prepared with a backup plan and don't let embarrassing moments ruin the overall experience.

Unexpected events can lead to stress and setbacks, but maintaining a positive attitude and flexibility can help turn the situation around. The speakers in this conversation experienced a missed flight and the subsequent struggle to find a new venue for a wedding, which caused stress and uncertainty. However, they managed to keep a good sense of humor about the situation and remain open to new possibilities, ultimately deciding to visit potential venues in Italy. Another theme that emerged was the importance of being prepared and having a backup plan, as many places were already fully booked for their desired dates. Additionally, the speakers discussed the embarrassment and discomfort of dealing with a cold and having to blow their noses in front of their partners. Despite these challenges, they emphasized the importance of not letting such situations ruin the overall experience and enjoying the journey.

    • Discomfort and Disgust: Sharing Intimate ItemsSharing intimate items without consent can cause discomfort, disgust, and potential health risks. Respect boundaries and communicate openly.

Sharing personal items, especially those with intimate associations, can be a sensitive issue and may cause discomfort or disgust for others. The discussion revolved around two stories where individuals used items that belonged to their ex-partners without their consent. The first story involved a man using a sex toy given to him by his ex-girlfriend, which he later used with his current girlfriend. The second story was about a man using his stepmother's sex toy, which he had discovered in his father's house. Both stories were met with strong reactions of disgust and disbelief. The individuals involved in the stories justified their actions by not wanting to waste the items. However, the lack of respect for boundaries and the potential for spreading diseases made these actions unacceptable. The discussion also touched upon the idea that people have different comfort levels when it comes to sharing personal items and that it's essential to communicate openly and respect each other's boundaries.

Being Your Own Lover | The No Bullsh*t Guide to a Happier Life

Being Your Own Lover | The No Bullsh*t Guide to a Happier Life

Welcome to episode 48. This week I’m talking about sex, intimacy and the awakening that can come from being your own lover. What stories have you told yourself since you became an adult? What messages were you given growing up? Shame, embarrassment and a sense of being un-entitled to our own sensual pleasure has plagued many of us from an early age, shutting the door on our relationship with ourselves as sexual beings, sometimes before it even started. In this episode I talk openly about how prioritising ourselves and understanding more about our own desires can open up opportunities to invite others on our sexual journey, enabling ourselves to share the intimacy that can contribute to a happier and more fulfilled life.

    In this episode:

    • Why losing your virginity is not actually the ‘big thing’ in your sexual journey.
    • Getting turned on – connecting with your kink and learning to communicate it with others.
    • A fulfilling sex life always starts with ourselves. Have you forgotten how to be your own lover?

In this episode I mention adult sex educator and coach, Ruth Ramsay. For more info visit her website https://www.ruthramsay.com/

Episode #13: Deadly Sexual Sin #6 (According to the Church): Don’t Say No, with Dr. Laura Anderson, part 2

In episode #69, we talk with Dr. Laura Anderson, co-founder of the Religious Trauma Institute, about the ways that Evangelical structures set up the sixth deadly sexual sin, “Don’t say no”, especially to your “God given gender roles”.

In part 2 of our interview, Laura talks with us about the devastating implications of “Don't say no”, including:

    • The involvement of guilt and shame (10:45)

    • The ways that our bodies respond to high control religion (17:20)

    • The distinction between acute and complex trauma (20:45)

    • The first steps of healing (34:15)

    • Healing in relationships (40:30)

And we close the episode with two tips for Relationship 101 (53:45):

    1. Pause. Julia explains, “Create some time between an ask and a response, particularly from a partner.”

    2. Cultivate intimacy outside of sexuality.

    Let's heal together!
