    Malana received her BA in Government (International Relations)in 1979 from CSU Sacramento. She is the Father of two. Malana Taught in the Merced City Schools from 1980-2007 (4th through 8th grades). She successfully transitioned on-the-job 2000-01. Malana was featured in "One Teacher in 10"; Second Edition (2005 Alyson). She resigned in 2007 to pursue investment interests while coping with Parkinson's Disease. Her interests include informally helping individuals online with trans issues, politics, the stock market, chess, wine and cooking. Malana lives in Merced, with her domestic partner Kim, and Tweety the precocious cockatiel.

    Lana is a 30 year veteran of the fire service where she transitioned on the job in Dec 2008 and currently works as a Captain. She has been active in her local community as a co-facilitator of a peer-lead TG support group and was recently installed as Moderator at North Congregational United Church of Christ.  Lana assists in the administration duties for the popular social network, PINKessence.com has presented inspirational workshops at First Event, Colorado Gold Rush. TransOhio, and SCC.
