    • Unexpected encounters with snakes in homesSnakes can unexpectedly appear in homes, including toilets, and while most are harmless, caution is advised when encountering them.

Snakes can unexpectedly appear in places we least expect, even in our own homes, including our plumbing systems. This was vividly illustrated in a personal experience where the speaker encountered an albino corn snake hiding behind the toilet, and in a news story about a woman who found a 7-foot python in her Brooklyn apartment's toilet. These incidents serve as reminders that the presence of snakes in our living spaces is a real possibility, no matter how unlikely it may seem. While these encounters can be startling and even frightening, it's important to remember that most snakes are not dangerous to humans. However, it's always a good idea to exercise caution and call professionals for assistance if you encounter a snake in your home. Additionally, the discussion highlights the importance of being informed about the natural world around us, even if it means facing our fears and acknowledging the existence of creatures that might initially seem frightening or unwelcome. The BBC, as a trusted source of information, plays a vital role in helping us broaden our horizons and gain a deeper understanding of the world we live in.

Gen Z wants you to take political action, one TikTok at a time

Gen Z wants you to take political action, one TikTok at a time

Gen Z is over it. The youngest generation of adults is inheriting a climate crisis, the ongoing fallout from a global pandemic, a polarized political landscape, and a tenuous economic reality.  And many Gen Z members, a generation more likely to identify as progressive than conservative, are ready for something to give.

Enter: Gen Z for Change — a youth-led non-profit that brands itself as, "the place where the creator economy and progressive politics intersect on social media." The group leverages a hundreds-deep network of social media creators to spread calls to action over TikTok. They've also pulled on the programming expertise within their team to develop a caché of semi-automatic tools that take the guesswork out of engaging with their political agenda.

Their latest tool, "Ceasefire Now!!" takes these efforts one step further — resulting in, by Gen Z for Change's count, two million emails calling for a ceasefire in Gaza hitting the inboxes of elected representatives in Washington every day.
