    Podcast Summary

    • U.S. Presidential Election: Legal Challenges and UncertaintyTrump's team files lawsuits alleging irregularities but no concrete evidence presented yet. Election outcome uncertain as mail-in ballots are being counted.

The 2020 U.S. Presidential election is still uncertain as President Donald Trump's legal team files lawsuits in several battleground states to challenge the vote counting process. Trump's team alleges irregularities and lack of transparency, but no concrete evidence has been presented yet. The election outcome could still change as mail-in ballots are being counted. Despite the narrowing path to reelection, Trump is not backing down and is using legal means to potentially overturn the results. The election saga continues to unfold, leaving Americans on edge.

    • Presidential Election LawsuitsThe 2020 presidential election has resulted in numerous lawsuits and protests, with allegations of voter fraud and stolen votes. It's important to trust the legal process and remain calm as the outcome is determined through proper channels.

The 2020 presidential election has led to numerous lawsuits and protests from the Trump campaign, with allegations of voter fraud and stolen votes. The discussions have been centered around various states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and even France. Trump and his supporters have been urging courts to halt vote counting in some states while continuing in others. However, this behavior undermines the foundations of American democracy and creates tension and uncertainty. Despite the chaos, it's important to remember that the legal process will take its course, and the outcome will be determined through proper channels. The use of threatening language and unfounded allegations of organized crime families only adds to the divisiveness and negativity surrounding the election. It's crucial that we remain calm and patient as the situation unfolds.

    • 2020 U.S. Presidential Election: Controversy, Uncertainty, and DisputesDespite Biden's lead in several states, Trump disputes the vote count and alleges fraud. McConnell vows to block Biden's appointments and agenda if elected. Fox News covers voter fraud claims without evidence. The COVID-19 pandemic remains a major challenge.

The 2020 U.S. presidential election has been marked by controversy and uncertainty, with President Trump disputing the vote count and alleging widespread fraud, while his opponent, Joe Biden, has taken the lead in several key battleground states. Trump's efforts to challenge the results have included legal actions, social media declarations, and calls to "stop the count." However, if Biden is ultimately declared the winner, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has indicated that Republicans will use their Senate majority to block Biden's cabinet appointments and legislative agenda. Meanwhile, the Fox News coverage of the election has diverged significantly from other news outlets, with allegations of voter fraud and irregularities being aired without substantial evidence. Amidst all this, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose a significant challenge to the country.

    • COVID-19 Cases and Deaths Surge Amidst Political FocusDespite progress in treating COVID-19 and developing vaccines, record-breaking new cases and increasing deaths require continued vigilance and safety protocols.

While the world focuses on politics and elections, the coronavirus pandemic continues to pose a significant threat with record-breaking new cases and increasing deaths. The situation in the US is particularly dire, with over 100,000 new cases reported daily and an increase in deaths in 32 states. The pandemic is also worsening in countries where the disease was previously under control, with the UK announcing a new national lockdown. However, there is some good news as doctors become better at treating COVID-19, pharmaceutical companies are developing vaccines, and a computer scientist may have found a faster way to diagnose the sickness through artificial intelligence that can detect subtle differences in cough sounds. Despite these developments, it's crucial to remain vigilant and continue following safety protocols to minimize the spread of the virus.

    • Unresolved Election Results May Ignore Popular VoteThe 2020 election results may not be finalized by Dec 14th, and states can send their own electors despite the popular vote outcome.

The 2020 presidential election may not be decided by the stated deadline of December 14th, and if the vote count is not complete by then, states have the power to ignore the popular vote and send their own electors. This is according to Ned Foley, an expert in US electoral chaos. The election process has already been a marathon, and the slow vote counting is causing additional stress and uncertainty. While it may not be a disaster right away, the potential consequences of an unresolved election could be significant and unfold in the coming weeks. It's important to stay informed and keep a close eye on the situation as the election results continue to be counted.

    • PA AG confident election outcome will be resolved within 10 daysDespite ongoing lawsuits, the US Presidential election outcome is expected to be resolved within the next ten days according to the law. Trust the process and reduce anxiety.

The 2020 US Presidential election outcome remains uncertain due to ongoing lawsuits, but Attorney General Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania is confident that the legal process will resolve the issue within the next ten days. Trump's team is trying to derail the popular vote through lawsuits, but these efforts are being challenged in court. The constitution provides a system for resolving election disputes, and there is no provision for transferring nuclear codes in such a situation. Voters should trust the process and reduce their anxiety, as everything is being handled according to the law.

    • Media's struggle to report the truth about the presidencyThe media has faced challenges in reporting the truth about the presidency due to reverence and fear of losing access

During the election, the media made a mistake by uncritically quoting or platforming lies told by then-President Donald Trump. Post-election, there's been improvement as some media outlets have started calling out lies for what they are. However, the reverence for the presidency has posed a challenge for journalists, as they strive to report the truth without appearing disrespectful. The New York Times' decision to label the president's lies as such marked a significant shift, but the fear of losing access to the president has also been a factor. This complex relationship between the media and the presidency is a unique aspect of American journalism.

    • The importance of accurate reporting over access in journalismJournalists who prioritize truth and accuracy over access provide the most informative reporting, while the obsession with access can distort perspective and prioritize opinion over fact. Cable news often prioritizes pundits and conflict over informative journalism, making accurate reporting expensive to produce.

Access in journalism can often lead to misinformation, and true reporting comes from doing the work and finding accurate stories in communities. The obsession with access among some journalists can distort their perspective and prioritize opinion over fact. Meanwhile, cable news, which is often the focus of criticism towards the media, prioritizes pundits and conflict over informative journalism, which is expensive to produce. It's important to remember that the most informative journalism often comes from journalists who are not seeking access or fame, but rather, are dedicated to uncovering the truth and reporting it accurately.

    • Cost drives sensationalism in news mediaNews networks can improve by focusing on context, depth, and factual reporting, rather than sensationalism and opposing sides, for more engaging and successful programming

Cost plays a significant role in the sensationalism and lack of factual neutrality in modern news media. The ease and low cost of producing and broadcasting sensational content creates a built-in sense of urgency and drama, often at the expense of accurate and informative reporting. News networks can find a balance by focusing on context and depth of expertise, rather than framing issues as opposing sides. Providing well-researched and well-told stories can better inform audiences and lead to more engaging and successful programming. Post-presidency, news networks should consider shifting their focus away from covering former presidents' every move if it doesn't bring meaningful information to their viewers. Instead, they should focus on providing valuable and factual content that resonates with their audiences.

    • Trump's Unpredictable TV Behavior: Old and Tiresome for ManyDespite declining ratings for Trump's unpredictable TV appearances, podcasts and shows like The Daily Show offer valuable commentary and context on current events, while the ACLU ensures every vote is counted.

President Trump's unpredictable behavior on live television, which once drew high ratings, is now seen as old and tiresome by many viewers and media outlets. According to the speaker, even Fox News anchors, who have traditionally been supportive of the President, are struggling to keep him on topic during interviews due to his lengthy monologues. However, despite the declining ratings, the speaker expressed appreciation for podcasts and shows like The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, which provide insightful commentary and context on current events. Additionally, the speaker highlighted the importance of the American Civil Liberties Union in ensuring every vote is counted during the ongoing election process. Overall, the conversation touched upon the shifting public perception of Trump's on-camera presence and the value of thoughtful analysis in media.

    After the Storm | 11.10.20.

    After the Storm | 11.10.20.

With the 2020 election behind us and Joe Biden the projected winner, we examine what the results really tell us about the election and the American people.

The storm has finally passed... well, most of it. Election Day 2020 has come and gone, and with many states still counting (or recounting) ballots, projections indicate that Joe Biden emerged the victor, having been first to claim the required number of Electoral College votes. Meanwhile, amidst claims of voter fraud, incumbent President Donald Trump has yet to concede the election, claiming that he "WON BY A LOT."

In the aftermath of one of the most contentious U.S. Elections in recent memory, we look at the way media reported on the outcome, as well as how the numbers on many (if not most) polls being reported by the media were wrong to a significant degree. Joining us to discuss the polling problems in the 2020 Election is Professor W. Joseph Campbell with American University in Washington, D.C., whose new book Lost in A Gallup addresses polling failures throughout time, and what it tells us about the 2020 election. Finally, we examine what the results really tell us about the election, and more importantly, the minds and hearts of the American people.

When Republicans? When will you stand up and fight for us. This is the time where you are supposed to do your job. I want you to see that the Republicans are responsible for the country being under the control of Biden. You cannot ignore what they are not doing. It's obvious that the Republicans are working together with the Democrats to intentionally destroy the United States. This should not be.
