On this episode of Beyond The Limit, we sit down with Ryan Vargas. Ryan’s impressive 8-year racing career includes several California State and Track Bandolero Championships. He quickly continued his winning ways in the NASCAR stock and late model divisions, including the 2015 NASCAR Super Stock Rookie of the Year at the Bullring at LVMS.

Ryan was the recipient of the 2016 and 2017 Wendell Scott Trailblazer Award. In 2018 Ryan was selected to the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program and competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East finishing 6th in overall point standings. 

In July 2019, Ryan made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Iowa Speedway with Johnny Davis Motorsports and had a top 20 result finishing in 17th place.

For the 2020 race season, Ryan has his sights set on making more NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, but it all comes down to finding funding. “I’ve had to teach myself a lot on the marketing side of the sport and I still have a lot to learn, but I’m determined to make this dream become a reality.”

On this episode of Beyond The Limit, we sit down with Sean West. Sean is currently an assistant coach in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system. Out of high school, Sean played baseball for Palm Beach Atlantic University and San Diego Christian College. Upon graduation, West served as SDCC's interim head coach in the fall of 2008. He moved on to serve as an assistant coach at Denison University. He then spent five seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at The University of Texas at Dallas.

Sean has tremendous experience within summer collegiate leagues across the country. In addition to coaching and winning a championship in the Cape Cod League in 2013, West has served as the general manager of the Licking County Settlers of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League winning championships in both ’12 & ’13. Most recently, West served as the Manager for the Savannah Bananas of the Coastal Plains League winning the championship in their inaugural 2016 campaign.

Sean has had the opportunity to coach over 95 players affiliated with professional baseball, including three first round selections in the MLB draft.

The company’s impressive list of clients includes the Joe Gibbs Racing Monster Energy Supercross team, many NASCAR Cup, XFINITY Series and Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series drivers and pit crews, as well as local racers from around the country.

While race helmets make up the majority of their work, no airbrush job is out of the question. The team has painted everything from firefighter helmets to baseball catcher’s masks, which the artists say help further develop their skills and keep them challenged.

On this episode of Beyond The Limit, we sit down with Julie Ferris. Julie grew up in the Atlanta, Georgia area. She received her BFA from SCAD and competed on the IHSA SCAD Equestrian team throughout her college career. She knew going into school that she wanted to ultimately pursue a career as an equestrian artist. With a major in Painting and a minor in Equine Studies, she set out to fulfill her dream in 2013 by starting her art business specializing in equine portraiture and other equine inspired works. 

Julie is working to reshape the way equestrian art is defined and perceived. By using the horse as emotive language in her work, she incorporates her own psychological response to the horse by creating works that highlight the unique qualities and characteristics of her subjects as well as promote the idea of reflection through visual engagement.
Her experiences with horses and life have influenced the way in which she captures the horse. Furthermore, as a new horse owner herself, she looks forward to sharing the personal journey of horse ownership and the bond between horse and rider as an additional perspective and inspiration in her work.
