    Unmasking Your True Self with Heather Schwartz

    Apologies for the sound issues! This episode is an interview with Heather Schwartz, a former psychologist, now focused on intuitive coaching, who is sharing with us today about recognizing the masks we wear in life, and guiding us through a process to take them off, and regain the energy and power of our true selves in the process. 
     
    Here are the steps for the process Heather shared today: 

    1. Think of a time when you feel most like yourself. Where are you? Who are you with? Notice the aliveness – where is it in your body? 
    2. Now, think of a time when you feel uncomfortable, when you know you’re TRYING really hard – that’s a signal that you’re not being fully yourself & you might have a mask. Maybe you always behave this way in this situation. (Masks are tight & can prevent forward movement).
    3. Feel how this situation feels in your body. 
    4. Notice what your face is doing right now as you bring it to mind.  What expression are you making.
    5. And, imagine that this feeling & expression is a mask you can pull off. 
    6. What does it look like? Let your imagination & intuition show you. 
    7. How heavy is it? 
    8. Notice how long you’ve had it. Ask your intuition for a sense of it. 
    9. Thank yourself for being willing to see what you may not have fully acknowledged to yourself before. 
    10. Drop into your heart and send compassion to this mask that has provided a service. 
    11. Let the meanings of why it’s been there just come to you. 
    12. Thank it and yourself for being willing to see it.
    13. And, as you do this, notice how your face feels without it. 
    14. Are you willing to be without it for another 5 minutes? You can always put it back on.
    15. The mask holds parts of you. It’s not just fake. It holds your energy. So, as you continue to thank it, if it feels right, call back ALL of your essence from it. You can melt the mask or blow it up or imagine it dissolving. 
    16.  Now, what does it feel like to have more of you back again?

    This week, we are taking a look at the fine details of the way we think and perceive things, and learning how we can shift our perception by making changes to these details. Follow along with the exercises to have an experience for yourself, of tapping into the submodalities of your thoughts and changing the programs in whatever ways suits you. 

    Some of the NLP  ( neurolinguistic programming) submodalities we discuss include: 
    Visual: Size, location, distance, brightness, saturation, clarity, motion
    Auditory: Tone, volume, location, distance
    Kinesthetic (feelings): Location, temperature, motion, texture

    The suggested exercises in this episode include:

    Using the program of something you like, or don't like, to change something you want to like or want to not like. 
      
    Changing a negative or critical internal voice

    Putting unwanted memories behind you, in the past, instead of continuing to focus on them

    Using the submodality program of something that feels true or possible, to create greater confidence in an area where you need more of that certainty.

    Identifying Limiting Beliefs

    Identifying Limiting Beliefs

    This episode is all about identifying the beliefs that are limiting you in life. 

    Some types of beliefs that often hold us back include: 
    Beliefs about your self, your worth, your capability
    Beliefs about the world, or others, and how they will treat you.
    Beliefs about what is possible or hard for you. 
    Beliefs about what you must do first in order to feel the way you want to feel. 

    Some techniques we talk about using in order to identify your beliefs include:
    Journaling, or free writing, 10-15 minutes non stop, then browse pages for belief statements that are not helping you in life. 
    Asking your unconscious mind to bring your thoughts to your attention, and reinforcing this by writing these thoughts down whenever they come to you.
    Interviewing yourself in a quiet place, and noticing the first (unconscious) response to come to mind.

    Join me next week to work with these beliefs in hypnosis, or begin right away by asking your unconscious mind to show you evidence of the opposite of your current belief, and be observant for the results.

    This episode is all about having a growth mindset. This key change effects every area of our lives and really helps us to enjoy our lives more and accomplish more at the same time, by recognizing and appreciating the value of learning and growing.

    In this episode, I ask you to make a list of qualities you think you have, and then ask yourself the following questions about those qualities:

     Do I believe this is something inheirant to me, or is this an area I can improve, with practice, experience, knowledge, and feedback? 

    Do I feel ok taking risks in this area in order to grow, or would a failure in this area feel like too big of a risk to my sense of who I am? 

    Is this something I am willing to push through the obstacles, and get feedback on, in order to learn and grow in this area? 

    Am I more interested in tangible results in this area, or am I more focused on the process of learning from it and gaining experience and skills?

    And, most importantly:

    How can I take action in improving this area? What education, practice, or practical experience will help me to grow and improve?
