     I know you are exhausted.  You struggle to get it all done in a day.  You NEVER STOP! 

    But guess what!??  Your family should be helping you! 

    I'm not sure why we, as moms, try to do it all by ourselves but we are doing our children an injustice.  They build confidence, organization and a positive self image by doing chores!  

    Responsibility builds Resilience!!

    LIttle kids can pick up toys and fold towels.

    Older kids can unload the dishwasher and scrub toilets. 

    Big kids can do it all!

    And then you can relax a little bit.

    Dopamine is known as the "feel good" hormone.  It gives you sense of pleasure and rewards.  The problem is we get little dopamine hits all day with our hours spent with dinging cell phones, notifications from social media and auto-shopping on Amazon. 

    What if you could get big doses of dopamine that don't add to our overstimulation and stressed, anxiety filled lives?

    Big, good doses of dopamine come from a long night's sleep, a long walk, a cold shower, getting sunlight on your body, savoring the moment, reading a good book, slowing down, lifting weight slowing and systematically, feeling deep gratitude or pride for an accomplishment, making a healthy meal and enjoying it slowly and meaningfully with family.

    In a world that says QUICK QUICK QUICK, allow yourself to slow down and get rewards from meaninful conversations, times of rest and achieving goals.

    1. When people ask you how you are you tell them how your kids are.
    2. The state of your home is the state of your wellbeing/happiness.

    Whatever the struggle, I don't want you to feel that you always have to start over!

    I hear women say this all of the time...

    "I failed but I'll start again on Monday."

    "I need to start this new plan because I got off track"

    I am all for setting goals, but maybe it is time for a mindset shift.  

    We actually get to CONTINUE ON!

    With the knowledge, the life experience, the training, the memories you can continue on in newness. And even if you don't feel equipped there is good news...

    His mercies are new every morning. Lamentation 3:23

    So if you are struggling with your weight, your health journey, your parenting, your marriage, cleaning your house or even just getting out to run errands, you don't always have to start again.

    You can just keep going with the confidence that you bring life with you and He is with you each step of the way!

    How to be a Mom in 2023:

    Make sure your children's academic, emotional, psychological, mental, spiritual, physical, nutritional, and social needs are met while being careful not to overstimulate, underestimate, improperly medicate, helicopter, or neglect them in a screen-free, processed food-free, plastic-free, body positive, socially conscious, egalitaritan but also authoritative, nurturing but fostering of independence, gently but not overly permissive, pesticide-free, two-story, multilingual home, preferably in a cul-de-sad with a backyard.  Also, don't forget the coconut oil.

     

    AHHHHHH!!!

    This is triggering in so many ways!!  But what is your list?!  

    Your intentions this fall will say A LOT about you and God is there asking you to keep the main thing the MAIN THING... HIM!!!

    We will have to eat and have clean laundry and get to appointments each day, what is your plan to make it all work?

    I have come up with some systems over the years, but in the busyness of this fall and still wanting to calm my cortisol levels and take care of my own health, it has to be even more intentional!

    These are not by importance - except for #1!!

    #1  Schedule self care… workouts, date night, time with kids, time away, morning routine

    #2 Build work/ responsibilities into my dream “ideal” calendar

    #3 Add all activities for each one in the family.

    #4 List of meals- breakfasts, lunches, dinners AND snacks

    #5 Have meal plan and grocery list accessible.  Have plan for groceries

    #6 Have calendar for chores, laundry, washing sheets, etc.- if you are trying to do chores in little nooks and crannies of your day you are going to lose it!

    #7 Plan time to talk- family meetings, marriage meetings, one on one with each kid

    #8 Don’t forget your four squares 

    #9 Plan ahead for things to go wrong

    Does back to school and fall schedules have you stressed out?

    OR what if you feel stressed and can't manage your emotions and even hormone balance and metabolic health because we are still in the after math emotionallly, mentally and physically from Covid?!

    I listened to a fantastic podcast with Rebekah Lyons (@rebekahlyons on Instagram) and it made SO much sense!

    Because we did not handle the trauma of the Covid pandemic like we have handled other difficult events in the past, we are not rebounding the ways we should have. 

    These Covid years have impacted our kids in ways that we won't fully see until generations in the future!

    I hope this episode helps you feel seen and understand that some of your health... mental and physical might still be lingering from the collective trauma we all endured together.

    Summer has been so fun!! I'm so sad to see it going by quickly!

    As the schedules change, kids go back to school, church and sports' calendars come out, all of the things, PLEASE HAVE YOUR SELF CARE PLAN FOR SLEEP AND STRESS MANAGEMENT plan!

    You can't pour from an empty cup!

    If you aren't sleeping and if you're stressed all of the time, everything in your life will break down!

    My oldest, my baby made it through his freshman year with only two colds!  These tips work so I'm replaying the episode from last year!!

    What’s in the Wellness College Kit aka “Love From Mom Kit”

    • First Aid: band aids, ibuprofen and tylenol (he knows to go to the oils first), thermometer, benadryl, OnGuard throat drops

    • Essential oils:

      • 2 OnGuard Hand Sanitizers - for the times he can’t get to the bathroom to use soap and water.

      • Deep Blue Stick plus Copaiba - convenient and easy to apply, works well for pain.

      • OnGuard Capsules - full of immune boosting oils.  He will take a capsule easier than he will use a rollerball because he doesn’t always want to smell like essential oils. 

      • OnGuard Beadlets - my kids know that when they’re coming down with a sore throat, these work fast. 

      • OnGuard Rollerball - extra support to rub on the throat if illness is starting.

      • Oregano - a very hot oil, but it is hot on germs and it helps kick the crud fast.

      • Tea Tree rollerball - soothing for sore throats and helps with skin breakouts.

      • Frankincense rollerballs - when in doubt you get Frankincense out.  As the King of Oils, Frankincense is great for everything but powerful for emotional support.  Knowing it’s potential, I just need him to have it there. 

      • Lavender Rollerball - bug bites, bee stings, etc. 

      • Digestzen - he’s used to using this when he has stomach troubles so I think he will for sure use this if needed.

      • Breathe - the respiratory blend.  My kids use it anytime they have a cold or difficulty breathing.  I will notice it’s gone from our collection and it’s because they’ve filled their diffuser in their rooms. 

      • Adaptiv Capsules - so great for anxiety and focus.  If he’s anxious trying to study or prepare for an exam or presentation, these capsules pack a punch.  Each capsule contains GABA, a neurotransmitter found in mammalian central nervous system which reduces neuronal excitability, which is powerful for calming emotions. 

      • OnGuard sanitizing wipes - to degerm his computer and phone!

      • And I’m going to clean his bathroom with an OnGuard cleaner concentrate and leave the bottle with him.. I wonder what his roommates will think..?

    This is how I’ve always taken care of him so it’s natural for me to send him off with this wellness kit.  I feel empowered as his mom, even though he’s leaving me, that he will have the tools he needs should the need arise.
