Monitoring ganz anders - Healthchecks (glt23)

Monitoring ganz anders - Healthchecks (glt23)

    The Carbon Sink Solution(s) (rc3-2021)

    The Carbon Sink Solution(s) (rc3-2021)
To limit climate change to a temperature-rise of 2 °C, at least 220 billion metric tons of carbon must be extracted from the atmosphere and sequestered in terrestrial C-sinks. Using smart Carbon Farming approaches combined with pyrolysis to produce biochar and oil is the only Negative Emission Technology ready to scale. The so-called Pyrogenic Carbon Capture and Storage (PyCCS) solution could achieve one-third of the global sink capacity needed by 2050. However, it would need around 400,000 industrial pyrolysis plants to be commissioned in the next 25 years. To reach this enormous number of industrial plants in such a short time, the exponential growth of pyrolysis plant production from currently about 100 plants to an annual output of more than 100,000 plants per year would be required. But from that point on, no additional pyrolysis plants will be needed anymore because the global limit of sustainable biomass production would be reached. Given the planetary boundaries and urgency of climate action, economical adaptation to exponential growth followed by the exponential shrinking of production capacities will be the new paradigm. An unprecedented social-economic challenge, and opportunity. about this event: https://pretalx.c3voc.de/rc3-2021-gehacktes-from-hell/talk/LYMR3N/

Cesium applications made awesome with TerriaJS (foss4g2019)

Cesium applications made awesome with TerriaJS (foss4g2019)
CesiumJS is a fantastic library for 3D geospatial visualization on the web, but it can be a huge amount of work to build a full-featured application on top of it. Enter TerriaJS. It builds on top of CesiumJS - and is released under the same open-source license - while adding a responsive UI for exploring a catalog of datasets, charts and graphs, a "splitter" interactive comparison tool, automatic region mapping from CSV files, hooks to geoprocessing services, shareable story building, a 2D fallback based on Leaflet, and much more. In this talk we’ll discover many of the advantages of using TerriaJS while exploring how we used open source and open standards to create the NSW Digital Twin Proof of Concept, a catalog and viewer of 3D datasets integrating live transport data, infrastructure (above and below ground), building information models, and cadastral data. TerriaJS also underpins multiple other major projects developed by CSIRO’s Data61 including Australia’s nationalmap.gov.au and the Global Risk Map - built for the United Nations Principles for Sustainable Insurance Initiative. TerriaJS is widely utilised by independent map publishers with an active chat community on gitter.im and more than 450 GitHub stars. Technology Assessment: Tricks or Treaties? (bub2018)

Technology Assessment: Tricks or Treaties? (bub2018)
Joint ventures between global IT corporations and agribusiness and pharmaceutical giants have followed upon the recent mega-mergers connecting digital DNA and digital surveillance technologies, especially in agriculture. What to do? From Left to Right there is a growing sense among academics, regulatory agencies and civil society that technology-driven corporate concentration has gone too far and that significant changes are essential. Should those changes take place at the national or EU level?… Or in the form of a UN Treaty? Some CSOs are talking regionally about establishing Technology Assessment Platforms lead by social movements. What are the priorities and what are the risks and opportunities? Pat Mooney, a Canadian co-founder of ETC Group will discuss his recent research and proposals for a way forward. Moderated by Lili Fuhr of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and ETC Group board member. about this event: https://fahrplan.bits-und-baeume.org/events/364.html

    Listener Q&A:

As compiled, deciphered, edited and sometimes read by Rachel Browne, the Podcast Sidekick.

The Best Intervals To Build VO2Max

Mark says: He loves the show. He's an age group competitive triathlete and 3.5 months ago he got in a bike crash where he broke his collar bone, 6 ribs and significantly collapsed his lung on one side. Now in the last month or two as he is getting back into training and competing a little bit, and he's noticed a pretty dramatic change in his Vo2 max and speed, particularly on the run, probably 15%-20% and probably 5-10% in swimming and cycling. He'd love to know the best and quickest way to get his competitive edge back and get his Vo2 max and ventilatory capacity back up to what it was before.

In my response, I recommend: -How To Look Good Naked article How To Get Lots Of Stuff Done Every Day

Burt says: He just got to the weekly roundup and its awesome, but he's barely scrolled down and he has a 10 million dollar question. How do you get so much work one? There's so many projects - he sees interviews you've done, your own podcast, articles, working on a chapter in your new book, and traveling, how do you do it? He'd love to know, what are your secrets? He's read and followed your stuff before, and he's hired you as well, but he wants to be able to make it his life. Thank you very much and he loves all your stuff!

In my response, I recommend: -My book: Daily Routines: A Practical Handbook To Optimize Your Body, Mind & Spirit -My morning routine -My afternoon routine -My evening routine Ben's Top 5 Anti-Aging Tips

Tyson says: He's 21 years old and from Sydney, Australia. He's a Personal Trainer and loves health and fitness. His question is how can live to 120 years old? You probably don't hear this from a lot of 21 years olds but he knows he wants to live past 100 and he wants to do everything possible in order to do that. So is there anything you recommend doing earlier in life that you wish you may have done to help you improve your longevity? He loves the podcast, the knowledge you share, and he shares it with all his clients. Thanks!

In my response, I recommend: -Future of Anti-Aging article -11 Ways To Age Like A Bad-Ass. -The Latest Longevity Research & 5 Anti-Aging Secrets From Five Of The Fittest Old People On The Face Of The Planet. -My Pau D' Arco bark tea recipe -TM & Kundalini -Gratitude journaling -23andMe and 23andYou (e.g. prostate cancer, diabetes, low endogenous glutathione production) -Less alcohol, more CBD (YouTube video link CBD for anti-aging, neuroprotective, antinflammation, cell energy, etc.) -Stem Cell banking
