In this episode of Mann ki ABC, Host Anshuma Kshetrapal reminisces about her family's aversion to expressing emotions through physical touch—be it hugs, high fives, or even in her professional life, where the conventional wisdom dictates minimal physical contact between the client and the therapist. Who established these norms, and in what context? Tune in now to listen about the significance of physical touch, encompassing gestures like hugs, a firm handshake, or a simple tap on the back. Discover how the absence of such interactions can contribute to mental strain, and why acknowledging the importance of these gestures is crucial for one's well-being.

E88: The Gift Of Allowance | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara & Gary Douglas

E88: The Gift Of Allowance | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara & Gary Douglas

    Are you in allowance?

Allowance is being the rock in the stream.

Other people’s thoughts, feelings and judgements flow at you and you don’t get washed away with them, they flow around you. You’re not affected by them because you have no point of view, otherwise known as allowance.

    What gift can allowance be?

The book “The Gift of Allowance” by Gary Douglas offers a set of simple tools for finding your own identity without being lost in the fog of others points of view about you and your world. Reading it and using the tools can change your life and allow you to determine just who you are and who you want to be.

    Key takeaways:

    • Allowance is not being a doormat.
    • You cannot change someone else's point of view, only they can.
    • Love from no allowance is conditional love. Love from allowance is unconditional love, because you will love the person no matter how crazy they are.

Your Post-Holiday Survival Guide to New Things

Your Post-Holiday Survival Guide to New Things

The holiday  can be a busy season with many feelings and sentiments. There's always the thing how the holidays were before and maybe even expectations from even as early as growing up like how the holiday should be. And if there was pain, then we may even long more for this holiday to make up for our pain.

And then there is a moving target on top of that, which is that life happens. With the pandemic, there was a time where all the holidays, were just via zoom, and we all stayed within our houses. And now that everything has been opening up more this year, we may need to get used to that, too.

Brainstorm with my guest sherpa Sarah Hohmann on how to set sail not just for a peaceful holiday but for new things to come!

E81: Consciousness In A World Of Distraction | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara

E81: Consciousness In A World Of Distraction | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara

Does being distracted create the life and world you would like to live in? The world is full of distractions and it’s only getting better and better at distracting us.

Distractions come in many forms, thoughts, feelings, our phones, friends, relationships, food, just to name a few. Can you be conscious and distracted?

If you’re not happy with distraction:

    • Learn deep work. It’s the kind of work that effects change and requires a lot of focus energy.
    • Get free of the distractor implants. These emotions such as jealousy, fear or hate are not real. Clearing them will bring you an incredible level of freedom.
    • Write down your top 3 distractions. Is it social media, cigarettes, jealousy, TV? What would happen if you lost them?
    • Are you using technology as a tool for more consciousness, or for distraction?

    Key takeaways:

    • What distractions are you using to avoid the consciousness that you could be choosing?
    • How many times a day do you check your phone or scroll through social media?

SNS 082: The Sacredness of Asking for Help? Psalm 54

SNS 082: The Sacredness of Asking for Help? Psalm 54

Can I just say, while reading this psalm, I was impressed with the sacredness of asking God for help? In the asking, which involves more than saying, “Hey God, I need this.” It also involves acknowledging the answer and offering thanks and praise for the answer received. What’s the importance of knowing this? Nice question. But before getting into it, let’s first hear the psalm. Then we’ll chat.

Also, before beginning, I am proud to say that this podcast is now sponsored by our book, Psalms 1-72, A Simple Not Shallow Presentation. A collection of the Psalms, as heard here on the Psalm Tuesday episodes. I will share 2 links for you in the description of this episode. But we’ll chat more about that later as well. So, stick around.

But, for now, my name is Charles, Charles Yerkes and this is Psalm Tuesday here on the Simple Not Shallow Podcast. This is a podcast for those who want a deeper faith and not an aggressively mediocre one. Psalm Tuesday is a series in which, each Tuesday, we will listen to a Psalm being read in a manner that honors their original use as part of a worship service. This episode is: #82 The Psalm for this episode is Psalm 54.

So, grab yourself some coffee, and let’s get started.

E80: A Different Christmas | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara & Dr Dain Heer

E80: A Different Christmas | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara & Dr Dain Heer

What can we BE that is a gift to others and to ourselves during this holiday season?
Tip: Being you is a great contribution.

How different would Christmas be if we started to recognize and acknowledge the gift we truly are?

Everytime you’re judging you, stop ! Your difference is your gift.

    Key takeaways:

    • Initially, Christmas was a pagan Earth worship, the acknowledgement of the cosmos and a celebration of the Earth and the communion that they shared.
    • When you’re truly being you, you have a sense of so much to gift.
    • When you gift, it brings you alive.
    • What would choosing to be a gift be like?

E79: Handing You Back To Nature | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara & Zach Bush

E79: Handing You Back To Nature | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara & Zach Bush

The Earth is ready for us to live! We have been taught the inadequacy of being alive and to disregard our connection to the Earth. Our body is tuned to the vibration of the Earth. When you’re having a bad day, just plug back into nature, go out in the woods and you’ll feel better.

What if we lifted the young people and handed them back into nature? What if we graduated from human thoughts into nature’s wisdom? Look at the rocks, the sun and the sky, they are your teachers.

What if we would begin to thrive within nature, instead of fighting nature that is life itself?

    Spoken by Zach Bush

    Key takeaways:

    • Silence the chatter in your head and engage the quiet space within you
    • Take off your shoes and stand bare feet on the ground
    • Breathing in nature increases your microbiome.
