...about Solo: A Star Wars Story (1992)

...about Solo: A Star Wars Story (1992)

A Star Wars movie that is both fun and funny? Say whaaaat???!!!

Directed by Ron Howard. Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Paul Bettany, Jon Favreau and Joonas Suotamo.

How is the world wrong about this film?

From Bryan: Remember when Star Wars fans wanted a million Star Wars movies. As a kid you wanted to see a new one every year. Guess what? It happened in 2018 and no one showed up. SOLO doesn’t break any rules or add anything new to the franchise, BUT it is hella entertaining!! Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover don’t just do imitations of Han and Lando, they put new life into them. Sadly this was an undeserved box office failure. Grab the family, grab the popcorn and watch a Hollywood sequel that isn’t total braindead garbage. Oh and did I mention it’s not three hours long? Praise the heavens!!!

TFG Ep. 31: Is More Solo for Disney+ Possible, Rumors of Hayden Christensen's in Kenobi Series, and Star Wars The Bad Batch Series Announced

In the 31st episode of the Force Geeks: A Star Wars Podcast, Nate and Jake discuss actor Alden Ehrenreich's comments about whether a return as Han Solo is something he would consider for Disney+. Plus, rumors are taking off that Hayden Christensen has signed on to return in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Are there any flames behind all this smoke? And some say it's the end of the massive budget era for Star Wars films. Where that thought first took root and what's behind the thought on reducing budgets for future films. And finally, Star Wars The Bad Batch is getting the green light for a Disney+ series that is set to premier in 2021. Hear it all in this latest episode of The Force Geeks!

    Ep 09 - Beautiful Creatures

    Ep 09 - Beautiful Creatures

"Beautiful Creatures is a 2013 American romantic gothic fantasy film based upon the 2009 novel of the same name by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl". - wiki

We would not call it romantic per say, rather a hormone driven novel. For once though the film was better than the book. Don't agree? Have a listen and see if we can convince you. We discuss everything from sex to the hard and soft rules of magic in this episode. It turned out to be more of a commentary on social norms that we intended but hey that is art for you. It was fun to make this episode and while I will never read the book again, the film is something I'll be happy to have on in the background. We all wish we could do magic right?

I swear a bit more than usual in this episode but what can I say? I am passionate about teenage literature. We are about half way through our Fantasy Season 1 so thank you for listening, we appreciate the love. Next week we will be releasing an episode on Philip Pullman's Northern Lights where we also have a special guest on the podcast so keep an eye out for that.

    Until next time my bibliophiles.

Episode LIII - Solo: A Star Wars Story
Regardless of whether or not Solo: A Star Wars Story should have or needed to be made, it's here, it's in theaters, so lets enjoy it! After all of the behind the scenes drama with the directors switch, does the movie feel like a jumbled mess or does the cast, crew, and origin explanations rise beyond our expectations? Listen in to find out that as we also talk a couple of news items, what is the best order to watch the Star Wars movies, and as always end with our content of the week.

DA: Ep. 10 - The Young Han Solo Chronicles

DA: Ep. 10 - The Young Han Solo Chronicles
We watched "Solo: A Star Wars Story," and we feel obligated to tell you about the experience. We also debate the finer points of two competing productions of Hamlet from the 90’s (for some reason). Fair warning: We start with a fairly spoiler free discussion, but at the 16:30 mark, we get into heavy spoiler territory. If you haven’t seen it and don’t wish to be spoiled, pause it there and come back later (we also warn you in the episode right before the spoiler section)
