    Talya Elitzer (Godmode Artist Development)

Welcome to Roadcase!!  Talya Elitzer is the co-founder of Godmode, a Grammy-nominated artist development company and label whose clients include Channel Tres, JPEGMAFIA and Yaeji.  Talya started out in the mailroom at William Morris and then moved on to Senior A&R at Capitol Records where she looked after artists such as Katy Perry, Sam Smith and Beck.  At Godmode, Talya takes young and fresh talent that do not necessarily fit into "pre-existing formats," and guides them along their way with assistance in touring, brand management and merch operations. Talya's story is not only one of managing artists and helping to shape their careers, but also a more personal story about her own persistence in an industry with which she has been both at odds and aligned simultaneously.  Come hop aboard the Roadcase bus and learn more about this unique and creative manager, Talya Elitzer.  It's gonna be a great ride!!

Episode 3: The Devil and Daniel Johnston

Episode 3: The Devil and Daniel Johnston

“Do yourself a favor, become your own savior.”

The 2005 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston truly is the story of an artist. Johnston was a cult icon whose DIY ethic and career became stuff of legends in the modern indie rock scene. He’s been championed and even covered by the likes of Beck, Tom Waits, Sonic Youth, Wilco, Nirvana, Fugazi, and many more. But even though he’s been often tagged as a musician’s musician, struggles with manic depression and schizophrenia often prevented him from finding the mainstream success many thought was deserved.

On this episode of Remainders, Darren and Patrick explore the creative process of an artist, and dive into their own practice with the art of creation.
