Coach Marlon “Smoke” Williamson’s Story:
In this episode, you’ll hear from Marlon “Smoke” Williamson. Coach Williamson is currently an assistant coach for Coach Tony Barbee at Central Michigan University. As you soon will hear that Marlon received the nickname "Smoke" at the age of five. And, everyone in the city of Detroit and the college basketball profession knows Coach Smoke! After a terrific playing career at Youngstown State University, Coach Williamson came back to Detroit to coach with legendary AAU Coach Durand “Speedy” Walker and his respected “The Family” AAU Team. After a productive AAU coaching career, Coach Smoke was an assistant coach at UMASS, the University of Pittsburgh, and Long Island University Brooklyn. Right away, you will hear that this conversation is such a tremendous tribute. From his love of the City of Detroit and those coaches in Detroit who mentored him to the coaches he has worked for and to current college coaches who he admires and finally to the incredible passion he has for the coaching profession, Coach Smoke speaks with such massive respect.
