38: Teachers: how, and why, we should talk to our teenager's teachers.

38: Teachers: how, and why, we should talk to our teenager's teachers.

We all want our kids to do well at school, but when they become teenagers there's a tendency for both schools and parents to ease back on communication. The schools tend to be much bigger and our teens are trying desperately to distance themselves from parental control and show that they can make their own mark. In fact, most of us don't get to meet individual teachers until parent's evening when the feedback can come as rather a shock.

So how much should we be talking with our teen's teachers, does it make much of a difference, and what's the best way of going about it?

Learning From The Lessons of Life

Learning From The Lessons of Life

There are seasons of life where nothing is happening, and nothing is growing—these are desert seasons. No matter how hard we try, we don't see any progress. Maybe you are in a season like that now.

There are years of parenting when it feels like no matter what you do, your child is lost. There are years of marriage when external forces press in so hard you don't know how you will make it. There are seasons of work where you may feel like your boss doesn't appreciate you, and all your hard work is not paying off. There are seasons of health where the best you can do is survive another day.

While these times in life require extreme effort with seemingly no results, they often produce the inner "fruit" of grit, persistence, faithfulness, loyalty, discipline, love, and selflessness.

In today's episode, Dr. Park and Clint discuss how to learn from life's lessons and the impact that it can have on who you become.

Bookkeepers – Stop Trying to Be So Perfect

Bookkeepers – Stop Trying to Be So Perfect

In this insightful new episode of The Bookkeepers' Voice, Angie Martin gets real with ALL bookkeepers after what was undoubtedly a difficult 2020.

Join us as Angie will be reflecting on the challenges of 2020 and how so many people are still struggling as a result of bushfires, floods and the Covid-19 pandemic.

As bookkeepers, we all know that our industry has worked so hard to create a professional, refined and almost perfect face. Why? Because so many of us felt that our clients expected it, as well as our industry. However now is the time to stop being perfect because after all - no one is and no business is. In fact, now is the perfect time as an industry to get more comfortable in pulling back the curtain and showing the amazing business owners we are and that we too are human.

Key Takeaway: "Stop trying to be so perfect."
