    Psalms Series 7: Psalm 22

    Psalms Series 7: Psalm 22

Psalms Series Part 7: Psalm 22
Join us as we study the Psalms this season at Trinity North Shore.

Mrs Jennifer Keifer continues our series in the Psalms with a closer look at Psalm 22.

Layered underneath the cause of sufferings, a profound alienation is felt.
In the words of the Psalmist, this believer has found themselves in a "pit", an "abyss", "waters overwhelming", a real or feeling of being cutoff from community and their flow of life.Their "enemies'', whether people or dire circumstances, adds to the pain.In this state, we can see how Psalm 22 exactly mirrors the circumstances.

For a thousand years before Jesus, ancient Hebrews turned to this Psalm in their suffering, and when Jesus suffered, he too turned to this song. Today this Psalm remains part of the sacred cannon of scriptures that we can turn to in our own suffering. It models for us what it means to "suffer well".

    PSALMS
The power of music + melody + poetry together = songs.
Singing to the Lord together is good for our mental health, our soul, our appreciation of God and of one another. Open your heart, bring yourself into the story of God.

Why do we sing? As Pascal said, "the heart has reasons for which reason knows not..." Music is one of the few gifts we have to bring love, to bring peace, to bring healing, to speak out against injustice, to bring praise and adoration to those we love. Music crosses those valleys, those deserts, those oceans within us and helps to bring us home within ourselves, connecting with God, and with one another.

Join us Sunday Mornings at 9:30 am during the cooler part of the morning.
Outdoors this Summer, outside the Retreat House

Episode 25: Is money the cause (or solution) of the minister shortage? We go there.

If the jobs section of The Christian Chronicle is any proof, more Church of Christ congregations in North America have open ministry positions than there are ministers able, ready, and willing to fill them. What is the cause of this "minister shortage"? In this episode, Christian Chronicle correspondents Cheryl Mann Bacon, Jeremie Beller, and Calvin Cockrell plunge into the "ick" of money as a factor in how few (or how many) Christians choose to become congregational ministers and whether congregations can hire and keep them.

    Psalms Series 2: Psalm 131

Psalms Series Part 2: Psalm 131
Join us as we learn about the Psalms this season at Trinity North Shore.

Mother Wendy Dixon continues our series in the Psalms with a closer look at Psalm 131.

When do we turn to the book of Psalms?
    - When we need comforting
    - When we need a deep moment of peace

How is it that David finds a way to intentionally calm and quiet his soul?
Join us as Wendy shares an insightful and comforting view of Psalm 131, a Psalm of David, a Psalm of ascent, as David looks to God for help to quiet his soul.

Text: 2 Peter 1:3. Speaker: Pastor Earlbert Sadicon Abecia. Date: 17 May 2023. Main point: With the grace of God, we have been given the privilege of reflecting the life of Christ through our suffering and the capacity to exhibit the reality of His redemptive work by offering sacrifices acceptable to Him. The Great Love of God

    Epiphany Week Four
Listen to Cn Tim's sermon: The Great Love of God

One thing we know from scripture is that Jesus loves to tell parables and stories, and this week we look at what some call the Prodigal Son, perhaps the greatest of Jesus' stories.

As Tim points out, for some it's a story about three prodigal people. In this insightful sermon Tim looks at each of the main characters in this story and how God is working in each of their lives.

391 - When God's Inspiration Comes From Unexpected Places with Bert Ballou

391 - When God's Inspiration Comes From Unexpected Places with Bert Ballou

What's the strangest place you've found inspiration for your art?

For Bert Ballou, my guest on this episode of the Thriving Christian Artist podcast, inspiration came from a wise-cracking donkey on an adventure with a grumpy, green ogre.

On a rewatch of the animated children’s classic, Shrek, Bert was rather surprised to hear God telling him to write a children's story about the donkey Jesus rode into Jerusalem.

But the next thing Bert knew, he was writing the text, commissioning an illustrator, and working with editors.  Before long, his first book, Anthony’s Amazing Journey, was released - and it wouldn't be the last.

God put it on Bert's heart to spread His message in the world of children's books, and Bert picked up that ball and ran with it.  Have a listen to this episode of the podcast to hear how Bert is responding to God's call and writing amazing books for kids, teens, and young adults.

The Fall of Mankind: Disobedience Leads to the Eating of Pork, Chicken, Sea food, Insects, Etc.

The Fall of Mankind: Disobedience Leads to the Eating of Pork, Chicken, Sea food, Insects, Etc.

    EPISODE NOTES:

And if GOD’s original intent is for us to only consume seeded fruits and veggies for food,

how and when did mankind (you & I) start eating outside of GOD’s intended nutritional guide?

In this episode I will speak on how the disobedience of mankind caused sin to manifest. Specifically, lustful cravings, discontentment, & self destruction

    Key Points of Discussion:

    • Mankind’s disobedience caused every sin imaginable to enter the earth.
    • Mankind started to steal from GOD’s kingdom by killing and eating animals.
    • What we eat is not GOD’s will- what HE originally intended and graciously restored us back to.
    • How disobedience got mankind kicked out of Eden/GOD’s presence/Kingdom and conformed to the unhealthy eating practices of this fallen world.
    • How losing focus changes our perspective and leads to self destruction.

Reading The Bible Correctly, and Rejecting Israel - Romans 11:1-10

Reading The Bible Correctly, and Rejecting Israel - Romans 11:1-10

Was the bible handed down from heaven by God, or did man have a hand in its creation?  How did the ancient Israelites read their scripture and how should we read it today?  These are questions that are often overlooked in our typical church gathering, but they are all too important in our ability to correctly read the Bible.  Paul utilizes important strategies when reading/quoting scripture in his letters and the letter to the Romans is no exception.  Paul touches on an important topic namely, Rejecting Israel.  Let's discover what gems Paul has left for us in Romans 11.
