Helping Farmers in Guatemala and Hunting Coffee - Jorge Ciciliani Ep. 25

Helping Farmers in Guatemala and Hunting Coffee - Jorge Ciciliani Ep. 25

In this episode, we journey with Jorge through Guatemala.  He is a coffee hunter and loves sharing his knowledge and passion for coffee with the local farmers. The lives they live are so different and unique than my own and I can't help but leave the conversation with more of an appreciation and respect for all those who help produce the coffee we all love.

Speaking with Frida made me realize how much I want to just surround myself with good wholesome people. The kind of people that have a passion for tradition, family, and what they do. I learned a ton from this episode and I hope you enjoyed it as well.  Check out Frida's farm through her website and Instagram linked below.

Guatemala: "Pursuing More Than Passion" Pablo Vasquez - (Episode 4)

Guatemala: "Pursuing More Than Passion" Pablo Vasquez - (Episode 4)

Pablo was such a cool dude to speak with and I learned a ton about Guatemala during our conversation. For me, it was one country I did not know that much about.  Very enlightening conversation to say the least.  From being a lawyer, playing rugby, working at coffee shops, to roasting and processing coffee Pablo has lived a life!  Our first conversation before ever hopping on the podcast was about following a path you love and work you enjoy.  That conversation was very inspiring and I look forward to pursuing my dream into coffee deeper and following in his footsteps so to speak.  Thanks again Pablo for the wonderful conversation and look forward to collaborating with you in the future. Keep learning and hustling!

    Margaret Nyamumbo: Kahawa 1893 Coffee

    Margaret Nyamumbo: Kahawa 1893 Coffee

Join us for a conversation with Margaret Nyamumbo, founder of Kahawa 1893. Margaret is a third generation coffee farmer and grew up on a farm in Kenya before immigrating to the USA. After earning her MBA from Harvard, she went on to work on Wall Street when she rediscovered her passion for coffee. She founded Kahawa 1893 with a mission to close the gender gap in coffee. In Kenya, over 90% of labor in coffee comes from women, but they aren't fairly compensated because they don't own the land. Kahawa 1893 coffee is roasted and distributed from San Francisco and the brand recently launched in Trader Joe's as the first Black & woman-owned coffee brand to launch in the grocery chain.

Interview with CEO of Farmer Connect, Michael Chrisment
In this interview, we talk with Michael Chrisment, the CEO of Farmer Connect. Farmer Connect is a company that is behind those intriguing QR codes you're seeing on your coffee bags and Easter Eggs. The company makes it possible for consumers to trace the product they're consuming all the way back to the farmer. They also give the farmer tools to help them with their business.
