Conan "A Witch Shall Be Born" by Robert E. Howard

Conan "A Witch Shall Be Born" by Robert E. Howard

In this season of Conan And Friends we feature all the Conan stories written in Robert E. Howard's lifetime. This week we present the full length story "A Witch Shall Be Born," which was published in Weird Tales magazine in 1934.

Conan the Barbarian is a legendary fictional character known for his unparalleled strength, indomitable spirit, and savage warrior skills. Created by writer Robert E. Howard, Conan roams the ancient and treacherous Hyborian Age, a fictional prehistoric era. With his rippling muscles, wild mane of hair, and fierce eyes, Conan embodies the archetype of the muscle-bound warrior. Born in the harsh Cimmerian lands, he endures a life of constant struggle, battling his way through a myriad of dangerous quests, fierce battles, and encounters with sorcery. Conan's tales are marked by his unwavering determination, cunning intellect, and primal instincts, making him an iconic symbol of heroism in the history of sword and sorcery.

We'll be presenting the works of Conan in the reading order recommended by scholars.

Conan And Friends is brought to you by In Shambles Productions. This episode was produced by audiodrama.ai.

You can find the definitive edition of Conan stories from your favorite bookstore here, available in ebook and paperback from our friends at Broadsword Books or via Amazon at www.getconan.com.

Psycho Bob Says Read Kradak the Champion

Psycho Bob Says Read Kradak the Champion

Join Bobber and Shaner as they discuss Shawn Inmon's book, Kradak the Champion.

Kradak the Champion's first appearance is standing atop a mound of bodies; some of which are not quite dead. In his arm is a chubby child he's rescued, who is destined to become a leader. Kardak is not just a hero. He's a warrior.

This image is captured in a film that, in the real world, features Steve, an actor who plays Kradak in a series of B-films. Unfortunately, the film attracts the wrong kind of viewer when Rista and Grint come through a portal from Arkana, view the film portrait of this hero's exploits, and decide that Steve is just the person to save their world. It isn't until they kidnap him and bring him to Arkana, the portal closed behind them, that they discover that Steve is anything but a hero.

    Commanders, Barbarians, and Guardians!

    Commanders, Barbarians, and Guardians!

In their third episode, the Commanders give their honest review of the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie. But before that, Shiraz discusses his away mission to a local comic book store on Free Comic Book Day. Special spotlight is given on the upcoming new Conan the Barbarian title by Titan Comics (Jim Zub, Adventure Time), and the exciting new comic pantheon by Opus Comics: The FrazettaVerse! Has Free Comic Book Day reignited Shiraz’s childhood love of comics? Listen now to find out!

    JUDGING BY THE COVER JR.

    Interview: Curt Pires - It’s Only Teenage Wasteland - December 07, 2022  - FOC November 14

    • This is an unconventional dystopian story, I’d hate to ask you for the pitch so I’ll take a stab at it, Ferris Bueller meets Warriors meets Max Max, accurate?
    • Was breaking the fourth wall always in the cards or did it come organically while you broke story?
    • You’re using an unconventional scene direction/detail format with big black boxes with white text, why did this work for the book?
    • What made now the right time for this series!
    • There’s a character named Fogelman, a person who became a friend due to those being cruel to him, did you have a Fogelman in your life in high school?
    • lorn Michael’s said in a recent interview, saying the 4 years you're in high school are the longest years of your life. You have no money, no car, and just staying up late with friends was a really exciting thing. And thus, folks say the best cast is the years they were in high school…skipping the last bit, is there truth to that?
    • Part of the magic of teenage wasteland is the group dynamic, how did you come to this specific group?
    • The art by Jacoby Salcedo is impressive with a detail with character acting that’s tops, what has it been like working with him?
    • Something I really like with this series is the pace, and it’s never holding back details but goes for it, are you ever pondering “this could work even better as a slow burn?”
    • The title reminds me of The Who, was that track on repeat while writing this?
    • The sister is specifically not yet 18, given the title is that important?
