Ep14 - First LIVE with Justin and Feat. Brent

Ep14 - First LIVE with Justin and Feat. Brent
Hello Listeners, thank you for listening to this very special episode of Sound Pollution. This episode is an audio only LIVE episode I did with Justin Slaughter Featuring special guest Brent A.K.A. Uncle Brent, on December 21st, 2020. I’m not at all confident with how this will sound or be interpreted without the audio but In this episode Justin plays and sings some covers, I sing a cover with Justin and Brent gave us the honor of playing one of his tunes, one of my favorites of his Tequila Nights. This was so much fun for me and not them and since not a lot of people tuned in for it live I thought I would share it for everyone here. Just PLEASE remember this was originally a FB/Insta/YouTube LIVE stream so we are talking to people messaging in, which does seem weird as just audio, but it made sense if you were there. I guess you had to be there, you shoulda been there ya’ll. Thanks for listening now, remember to Make Some Noise.

#5 mit René (Tequila & the Sunrise Gang)

#5 mit René (Tequila & the Sunrise Gang)

Part 2! GNR Spaghetti Incident: Covers vs. Originals w/ Mike Durband

Part 2! GNR Spaghetti Incident: Covers vs. Originals w/ Mike Durband
On Today's Creative Control Daily, Mike Durband and I go over the rest of the songs from Guns N' Roses' 1993 release, "The Spaghetti Incident." TSI was a covers albums that was released to mixed reviews, and less album sales than GNR was used to at that time. We debate whether we prefer the original version to the cover versions, and also discuss: T Rex, Soundgarden and Chris Cornell, "Hair Of The Dog" and the electrifying performance by Invader with myself on lead vocals, The Misfits in WCW, the "Duff tracks" on TSI plus his solo album "Believe In Me" and his desire to work with Prince, Axl choosing to cover a Charles Manson song and the resulting controversy, GNR's history of playing covers, Use Your Illusion still being promoted after TSI's release, did COVID prevent GNR from releasing new music, the song "Hard School," Slash and Duff's musical output outside of the GNR bubble, Durband hates The Who, Brett Michaels as a giant banana and more!

Also, I discuss "Dark Side Of The Ring" and Owen Hart.

David Ellefson of Megadeth, Interview Part 1 - There Goes My Hero

David Ellefson of Megadeth, Interview Part 1 - There Goes My Hero

David Ellefson has been keeping himself rather busy - from working on Megadeth's 16th album and solo music to connecting youth musicians with all-star instructors through his "School's Out" initiative. So how does David hope the initiative will continue to help both new and established artists during the COVID-19 pandemic? What inspired him to cover Post Malone's "Over Now" (and what did the rapper think of the cover)? Why is it important to the legendary bassist that Megadeth record their new album in-person versus remotely? And how did meeting Cheap Trick as a teenager influence the way he handles himself in front of fans today?

Find out what David reveals in “There Goes My Hero” - an interview series where Matt and Zach talk to their favorite artists about the first time they met their idols. Hear our guests relive every glorious (and possibly embarrassing) moment from encountering their musical heroes, and how that experience impacted them for the rest of their lives.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our chat with the Megadeth bassist!

Cover Songs, Fall TV mid-season Check, #BigSell30 - IP 96

Why not take a break from re-watching the Black Panther trailer and listen to this brand new episode of Inside Pop!

First up, we discuss cover songs. What makes a great cover song and what are some of the best? We discuss covers and originals performed by Prince, Adele, Joni Mitchell, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Whitney Houston, Annie Lennox and more!

Remember the sense of optimism you felt at the beginning of the TV season? That belief that you'd be bowled over by a ton of new amazing shows and that all of your favorite returning shows would continue to be your favorites? Well we felt that way too and now it's time to face the music (or the should we say 'the flat screen'). We're doing a mid-season check in to see which shows are must-see and which are about to be deleted from the DVR. We discuss This is Us, The Deuce, Queen Sugar, The Defenders, The Exorcist, Wisdom of the Crowd and more!

And we'll also check in on the #BigSell30 Challenge and discuss how our lives have improved while experiencing one new piece of pop culture every day this month.

Then Zach Myers from the band Shinedown calls in to talk to Cutter about everything from what his favorite steak is, to his other project called Allen, Mack, Myers, and Moore to the future of one of rock's most successful bands.
