Ep. #20 Rock Out Date Night In, Out, Or Away!

In order to have a marriage that lasts, you've got to make it a priority. That means above and before kids, work, and anything else that might come before your spouse. If you wait until your kids are grown or your life settles to pour into your marriage, there won't be anything left to salvage. If this is hard for you to wrap your brain around, remember that your spouse was there before anyone else and will be long after all else is gone.

Make date night  priority! It is so worth it.

    Ferris Bueller's Day Off #33

    Ferris Bueller's Day Off #33

Bueller, Bueller, Bueller...We have reached #33 in our quest to watch the movies listed in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week we had the luck of picking Ferris Bueller's Day Off written and directed by John Hughes. Being a couple of Gen Xers, we completely love and totally relate to this movie (and basically all John Hughes movies).

Make sure to listen to the end to find out our next movie. Since we have moved into October, we are going HALLOWEEN THEMED!! Find out what our next movie is at the end of the podcast.

    The Player #32

    The Player #32

We continue our quest to watch all 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week, we randomly selected our 32nd movie, Robert Altman's The Player (1992). The Player has the distinction of having the most Oscar winners in one film: 12 actors/actresses and 1 producer/director. Does the star power overshadow the plot? Can the acting help the self-important writing? Can Pam figure out why exactly this movie won so many awards? Feel free to tell us what we are missing! Find us on social media @themblpodcast.

    The Naked Gun #29

    The Naked Gun #29

Our next movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die is The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! This one is a bit different for us since it is a more plot-driven movie rather than the character-driven ones we have been discussing recently; this one is all fun! If you are following along with your own movie Bucket List, we are on number 29. Listen to the end to find out which movie is number 30. Follow us on all social media @themblpodcast

The Cabin in the Woods #26

The Cabin in the Woods #26

We're back!! We had a slight little vacation, but we've got a new episode ready for listening. This week, we will discuss our first "horror" movie, The Cabin in the Woods. We have to admit we were a little perplexed as to why this movie is in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, but listen to the podcast to find out why we agree with the inclusion of this movie on this list.

    The Godfather #25

    The Godfather #25

We're going to make you an offer you can't refuse! Listen to our podcast or you might wind up with a horse head in your bed. Well, not really. But we would love for you to listen our latest episode on The Godfather (1972) directed by Francis Ford Coppola. We are 25 movies into 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, and make sure to listen to the very end to find out which movie is #26.

    Clueless #24

    Clueless #24

As if! Whatever! I'm not trying to hear that! So many classic quotes from a classic movie. Nothing is more typical mid-90s as Clueless, written and directed by Amy Heckerling. The fashion, the music, the issues, the technology are all sooo 90s, and the 90s were sooo awesome. Now don't be a full-on Monet, listen to our latest episode even though you are a virgin who can't drive.

    Se7en #23

    Se7en #23

What's in the box?!?! What's in the *&^# box?!?! We all know what's in the box, but it doesn't make it any less exciting to watch Se7en over and over again. Directed by David Fincher, Se7en (1995) is quite a journey through the Seven Deadly Sins with a super satisfying un-Hollywood ending. No happily ever afters here! The movie still holds up after 25 years. Make sure to subscribe and listen to our review of Se7en!

    Goodfellas #21

    Goodfellas #21

Hey Spider! Dance that drink over here!! One of the best "true stories" ever that has been made into a movie. Scorsese at his best brings us Goodfellas (1990). DeNiro, Pesci, Scorsese, with a dash of Liotta makes this an amazing film. We might have gotten a little too into the movie as this episode might be a bit more explicit than others - the number of F bombs are drastically increased in this episode!

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert #17

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert #17

You could sum up this movie with one phrase: A cock in a frock on a rock. But this movie is oh so much more than that. Winning 1995 Oscar for Best Costume Design, this movie is visual eye candy. Combine that with some amazing writing and you get The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert! Our first international review, this Aussie film is quite a treat. Download our podcast to hear about our favorite parts.

    Raising Arizona #15

    Raising Arizona #15

"Son, you got a panty on your head." This is one of the best quotes in cinematic history written and directed by the genius that is the Coen Brothers. Raising Arizona (1987) is a timeless comedy that STILL has us rolling in our seats 33 years later. Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, Frances McDormand, John Goodman, and many others combine to create this tale of love. Of course, don't forget the yodeling.
