When the Voyager gets jacked, Leonardo DaVinci gets snatched like a chain, along with the ship’s computer core. But when they arrive at Planet SoCal, they get extremely confused about what their priorities should be in recovering their stuff. Why don’t more aliens look like members of Slipknot? Hairy Fingers with a Galaxy Brain (VOY S4E9)

When Captain Janeway decides to ditch the nebula and try her luck in open space, she defies the Doc and endangers herself one too many times. But while Chakotay downgrades to season-one status, Paris saves the two-parter by sending Janeway what she needs to finally go down with the ship. What type of role play is Kevin into? What would Taffer find in Annorax’ walk-in? Why isn’t the year of hell an actual year? It’s the episode with tiki quantity and quality!

When some Ring Pop enthusiasts start rewriting history, their device creates some serious turbulence for Voyager. But when the shockwave pushes the crew into a new reality, they'll risk everything to learn how the time weapon can be defended against. How many centuries would it be appropriate to put up with the job title “Lackey” before you ask for a promotion? Why don’t they use porcelain in starship construction? Why are they called the Zahl? It’s the episode where we’ve synchronized our sewer problems.

When a lonely holographic man sends a distress call to Voyager, the EMH convinces the captain to risk his mobile emitter on an away mission. But when Harry Kim and Seven of Nine are teamed up for another engineering project, the episode becomes a cocktail of horniness and fear. Does Neelix charge a corkage fee for cakes? What happens when you go down the long ladder? Is it okay to do bits on organics? It’s the episode that’s hanging butt!

Profit or Passion by Nog Ferengi

An oppressive parental figure. A harsh mentor. An expectation from someone above you to take a specific life path — even though you’ve already set your mind on pursuing another. Lots of us can relate to the shared experience of wanting something that conflicts with what our friends, family, parents or colleagues want for us. The question is: what do you do in a situation like this?

Today we’re going to walk you through someone who’s on this path right now. His name is Nog — a fellow on a pretty universal journey, if you will. A young man from a profit-based planet (or, should we say, city), Nog has dreams of joining an organization based on charting, exploring and defending unseen lands. Unfortunately, he’s running up against problems with his uncle, who’s convinced that the best move for Nog is to take a more active role at the family bar in the coming years.

To get clarity around his concerns, Nog’s written a few journals to us in hopes of better navigating his situation. Let’s dig into his first journal entry now and see what we can glean!

Thanks to Kirsten's caving, this episode features three of Maria's favorite episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DS9 ). Our shared love of Star Trek has brought us even closer together over the years. This conversation covers everything from an examination of why specific series are comforting to us, to the power of facial hair, and even connecting the dots between a DS9 episode and the Hawaiian Renaissance. There is lots of laughter and nerding out in this lighthearted episode.

It's a fantastic episode about racism, the history of sci fi, and the importance of fiction. Unfortunately, Jeffrey Combs plays a horrible, racist cop! DS9 - "Babel"

    DS9 - "Babel"

The Trekkie gals were impressed with this episode. Not only was the plot unique, but the actors did a fantastic job learning their confusing lines. Equally confusing was O'Brien's rank, the way Nog was treated, and part of the plot - which only Sarah was confused about (as usual).
