On today's show we talk with Capt Justin Leake of Panama City Inshore out of Panama City Beach, FL. & we talk all about chasing the silver king's that have arrived in the FL Panhandle. Capt. Justin walks us through how he positions the boat once they find the fish. We talk about live bait selections and how to rig them and how to fish them. Justin also shares how he rigs his rods, we go from the line on the reel all the way to the size and brand of hooks Justin prefers. This episode can take you from zero to Tarpon fisherman, so even if you are an experienced tarpon angler, Justin shares several tips that you only figure out with decades of experience on the water.

On today's episode we talk with Capt. Jordan Todd of Saltwater Obsessions out of Port St Joe, FL. We have a great conversation about the triple tail fishery in the area and some of the things that we can do as anglers to help conserve the resource. We also talk a little about why they are even in the area in the first place. We hear about a recent tarpon trip, It sounds like they have arrived in numbers big enough to target and it should only get better as the migration gets going full swing. With Red Snapper season opening soon in State waters, this summer fishery is just waking up. Stay tuned so you know what to target when you head out!

On today's show we talk to Capt. Brant Peacher of AnglerUp with Brant out of Pensacola, FL. He tells us about a recent surf trip where they were able to get into the Bonita along with ladyfish, Spanish & Bluefish. Bonita are one of the best baits for chumming up sharks, so this is an awesome way to gather bait for future trips. They were also able to get into a decent hammerhead and as the title of the episode mentions, a tornado. A crazy experience that doesn't happen often, luckily, Brant caught this one on film so be sure to check it out on his YouTube channel or Facebook page.

We also get updates on the water conditions in the area. After the rain last week, things are a little messy but with some dry weather, it should clear back up in a few days. There are many angling opportunities available in the area this time of year & usually the water and weather conditions are what dictates where & how you fish.

Redfish are thick along the beach right now and tarpon should start to move in soon, the lady fish and blue fish are there too. You really have the potential for too many opportunities to list here on the beach this time of year. If you can find the weather window, run the beaches, it sounds like you'll have good odds of putting a fish in the boat.

The wind has been blowing since we talked last week and that makes it tough to chase all of the fish moving along the beach this time of year. If you can get out the pompano, Spanish, bluefish, jack crevelle & redfish are all there and be sure to keep an eye out for cobia too. Inshore the redfish and speckled trout bite has been solid and the pilchards are expected to show up in full force any day now. It should be another great week as the temps continue to trend in the right direction!

We also talk about a few recent client trips & talk about conservation of speckled trout. This is the time of year they move onto the flats to spawn. The important thing to remember is to release the bigger females that are more than likely full of eggs. A couple of rules to note, the female trout are always the big gators that everyone is after. That makes it really important to quickly release them after some measurements and a pic or two. Secondly, the males make grunting sounds when brought to hand, those are the ones you want to keep.

Also, for those coming from out of town and don't have access to a boat and maybe surf fishing isn't your thing, the pier can be a hot spot for all of the species above.

On the warm, sunny days when the water can warm up and anglers can get out, most of the Spring species are there and hungry. The problem in April, is that there are cold fronts that bring rain and shut the bite down for a few days periodically. So, with the weather up & down and migrations just getting going, its really hard to tell what you might see when you're on the water this month. Jordan has some great advice on how he is prepared this time of year to maximize your time.
