We heard from John Minko as St. John’s beat #15 Creighton while Rick Pitino wore a white suit. Jerry went around the NBA yesterday. Francisco Alvarez hit a HR for the Mets in spring training. Jerry has audio of AJ Brown calling in to WIP in Philadelphia to talk about how negative the media is. In the final segment of the hour, Tom Izzo here at WFAN has taken WFAN out of his name and now he’s TomIzzoDigital instead. Peter King also announced his retirement. Izzo comes into the studio to explain himself. 

Hour 2

WFAN’s search to replace Spike Eskin seems to be at a standstill. A caller wonders if Matt Rempe is able to turn down fights when people challenge the rookie in the NHL. Gio said somebody told him that Evan Roberts said he could beat up almost everyone at WFAN. Jerry is here for another update and starts with Peter King announcing his retirement. Jerry has audio of Russell Wilson on a podcast and he’s fired up for this season if he’s in Denver or somewhere else. There’s talk of Russell to the Steelers. Cam Newton was involved in a fight at a flag football game. We talked about the pronunciation of Andrej Jakimovsky. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Shane Gillis hosting SNL.

Julius Randle said there is still a chance for season ending surgery. Boomer wonders how many wins the Knicks need to stay in the top 4. Gio said they have to go 15-10 from here on out at a minimum. Jerry returns for an update with audio from Brandon and C-Mac talking about the 5 borough bike tour. Jerry has audio of C-Mac singing ‘Sandy’ from Grease. A-Rod explained why he was looking so tan at the Milwaukee Bucks game. St. John’s beat #15 Creighton this weekend. Russell Wilson was on a podcast and wants to win 2 Super Bowls in 5 years. In the final segment of the hour, Gio said Boomer was looking up WAR stats on Juan Soto and Pete Alonso. A caller wants Gio to evaluate his piano playing nephew. Another caller wonders which Mets player will get norovirus first.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman gets in the mix on trans-athletes playing in women’s sports. It gets us into the whole discussion of transgender women playing women’s sports in high school and college. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco talking about players spending way too much money on parties. John Minko is on the call as St. John’s beat #15 Creighton this weekend. Juan Soto is having a great time at spring training in Tampa. The Moment of The Day involves the pronunciation of Andrej Jakimovsky. In the final segment of the show, a caller said if Gio’s wife left him for Boomer, it would be a huge upgrade. Juan Soto is set to play side by side with Aaron Judge in what may turn out to be the best tandem in baseball. The biggest problem is that it may be short lived. Plus, Francisco Alvarez may get some early love from the Mets?

Pat McCarthy recaps a long but successful day of baseball in Queens as the Mets took the first game against the Phillies thanks to a strong outing from Tylor Megill which was aided by a 4-0 lead which despite a last minute comeback attempt would be too much to overcome. Then about 30 minutes later the teams took the field and the Mets offence exploded with Francisco Alvarez 2 home runs accounting for 6 of the team's first 8 run as they cruised to a 11-4 victory in the night cap.

Pat McCarthy spoke to Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez before today's game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Pat McCarthy recaps a series opening win where the Mets offence was firing on all cylinders as Francisco Alvarez, Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo all went deep with Nimmo tallying two homers as with the help of another strong outing from Jose Quintana the Mets cruised to a lopsided 11-5 victory over the Nationals.

Pat McCarthy goes through a game where Francisco Alvarez, Brandon Nimmo, and Francisco Lindor all went deep in the third inning before later being joined by a Tommy Pham double to push the run total to four and account for all four Mets hits on the afternoon while on the other side Justin Verlander went 7 strong innings to help deliver a win which evened their weekend series against the Giants.
