We continue the Story of the Gospel series "Creation and Fall," with a focused account of the creation of Adam and his wife in Genesis 2.

From meditating on this account, we can see that God was very specific in how and why he created humanity, male and female.

And they were without shame.

This no-shame nakedness is what perfect peace was like in the beginning. and what we will need to remember as we journey through the Story of the Gospel together.

Both singleness and marriage are gifts from God. Paul considered it a gift from God to be able to live a Christ-centered, single and celibate life, and for those who are called to single lives God grants all the grace needed to walk that out. Both Jesus and Paul also recognized that many people are called to be married, and God also grants all the grace needed to be in a marriage. Christ-centered singleness and Christ-centered marriage are each a blessing to the church in their own unique ways, and each finds its ultimate fulfillment in meaningful relationship with the church family and with God.

Grace in the Bible is the free gift of God. There is nothing we can do to earn it. We can either accept it or reject it, but if we accept it, it doesn’t leave us the same. It changes us from death to life. We cannot build our faith on anything less than this. When we don’t know God or haven’t accepted his gift of grace, we are dead. We are not only dead, but we are guilty. We are guilty before God and his standards for us, but God’s judgment is different from the judgment we know towards one another. God’s judgment is rich in mercy. His gift of grace is a gift of mercy. He offers to us the payment for our guilt if we would only accept it. When we place our trust in Jesus, his life becomes our life. Whatever is true of Jesus, is true of us. Whatever good is in him, is working itself out in you. And whatever Jesus is, in life and death, in mountains and valleys, in darkness and light, wherever Jesus is, you are with him. And nothing can change it.

In this episode I explore the myth in Genesis 2 about the creation of man and woman from the androgynous figure of Adam. This ancient teaching, which is found in various spiritual traditions including early Judaism, taught that the original human was non-binary. The original condition of humankind was nondual. This primal androgyne is split in half, and two separate beings are created – a man and a woman.  I explore what this has to say about nonduality and gender identity.

                        Have you ever had a need that you felt wasn’t met? If you’re like most of the population, the answer to that question is obvious. We all have needs. If we didn’t, it would have been arbitrary for the Lord to say that He “meets all of our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” {Philippians 4:19} The problem is that most people don’t realize that God always gives us what we need before we need it!

Take a look at Adam in Genesis 2, we see that God created man on the sixth day, after He created everything that man would need. Since God is no respecter of persons, we know that what He did for one person, He will do for everyone so we can rest assured that any need we have has already been met by God. We just need to understand how to access the provision! In this short session, I illustrate through my own experience two practical examples of God giving me what I needed before I needed it. There are countless examples in my life and in the Word of this principle. Even in your life, if you’re honest, you will be able to see clearly where God gave you something that may not have seemed important or even necessary and then it was exactly the right tool for the job when all was said and done. Anyway, thanks for tuning in! I missed you!!
