1.21.24 - Know Jesus, Know Joy: Motivated by Christ's Love (2 Corinthians 5:14-21)

To whom does the work of salvation belong? Simple question. There is only one Savior. But this is how good Jesus is. So that our lives might have profound meaning and eternal purpose, he shares some of that work with us. He calls us not just to be followers, but to be follower-makers. Jesus asks some—prophets, apostles, pastors, missionaries, teachers—to do this full time. But ultimately Jesus asks all believers to serve as his ambassadors, sharing the gospel with whomever he brings into our sphere of influence. This lofty charge requires commitment—a willingness to abandon everything else should faithfulness require it. This is the life-changing revelation for this week. Jesus has committed us to a lofty charge: the privilege to play a role in his saving work.

The Bible reading for this message is 2 Corinthians 5:14-21.

Ezra Part15: Beautiful Repentance (Ezra 9:4-10:4)

Ezra Part15: Beautiful Repentance (Ezra 9:4-10:4)

Ezra has come to teach God's people God's ways, to help them align their lives to the heart and word of God. When he discovers that they are straying so badly into sin, he is understandably devastated. He becomes an example to them though, of how to repent, and they way he identifies with them in their sin points us all to Jesus, the one who ultimately has taken our sin upon Himself. These keys help us address sin in our own lives as well, reminding us that there is hope after sin! Take a knee. Take responsibility. Then take action. God gives us all the grace we need to turn our minds, hearts, and actions back toward Him in beautiful repentance.

Episode 96: Accept Responsibility For Your Life...Make Choices and Grow

Episode 96: Accept Responsibility For Your Life...Make Choices and Grow

It's not your fault is a refrain you hear all the time. It's not your fault that this that or the other thing happened to you.

How you respond, the choices you make, are completely your responsibility. Your life is your responsibility. Your choices are your responsibility.

Seek inspiration, act on inspiration, otherwise you will get less and less inspiration and end up living miserable, blaming others for everything that occurs in your life.

You can't choose what happens to you, but you can choose how to respond to it!!!

Take It Outside: The differences between indoor and outdoor power.

Take It Outside: The differences between indoor and outdoor power.

As the northern hemisphere starts to hear the first whispers of spring, cyclists' thoughts turn to riding outside. If you’re training outdoors with a power meter and this is your first time doing structured workouts outside, you may notice a difference in your ability to sustain power out on the road versus on your trainer. This isn't in your head. Most cyclists can produce considerably more power outside. In this episode, Wahoo Sports Science coaches Neal Henderson and Mac Cassin look at the reasons behind this discrepancy, including how the way you ride outside can help identify specific weaknesses and areas for improvement. Get out there.

PINK LADY - Author, Host. Motivational Speaker, Actress, & Caregiver: LIFE AFTER CAREGIVING

PINK LADY - Author, Host. Motivational Speaker, Actress, & Caregiver: LIFE AFTER CAREGIVING

IN EPISODE 46 - Don and I had an absolutely inspiring conversation with Jackie Goldberg, also known as the Pink Lady. Pink is 89 years young  - and I don’t say that lightly.  Pink is a teacher, actor, author, and toastmaster. For over 40 years, she was in the fashion industry as a Womens’ Wear marketing & sales rep. At age 70, she developed a series of seminars called, “Get Up, Get Out, & Get a Life,” to encourage fellow seniors to embrace new challenges. She also began an acting career. This led to her creation of the non-profit Senior Star Power Productions and an annual live stage show featuring performers over the age of sixty. The mission of Senior Star Power is to engage, inspire and enrich the lives of seniors through the arts. This also led to her Variety/Talk Show, “Pink Lady Presents”.

When Pink was 64, Walter, her husband of 32 years was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Without a fraction of the resources available today, she relied on her instincts to guide her as she embraced her new role as a Caregiver. I love this interview because it comes from a healthy and positive senior perspective. It is also extremely candid and disarming - which is what I find so appealing about talking to “senior citizens”. (Can we please find a better title?”)

When Pink was 70, her beloved Walter passed away. With her caregiving days behind her, she took back her life and  reinvented herself - truly living by her mantra, “Get Up, Get Out, & Get A Life! It Ain’t over Til I Say It’s Over!” Also the title of her book, Pink writes,”“I believe I’m a perfect example of what the right attitude and gratitude can do for you. You need to know who you are and realize there is still a lot of livin’ to do. The purpose of life, after all, is to live it. This is truly our time to live life to the max-to taste each experience and to live in the present moment, wisely, lovingly and with enthusiasm. In today’s world, it takes guts to get older, without being old. Aging happens to everyone. It’s inevitable.  However, there’s no need to become a victim of age.”

How did she become “Pink Lady”?  It began when she worked in the fashion industry and dressing in pink became her trademark. Pink Lady is a force of nature, like getting a shot of vitamin B-12!  She is blessed with 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren . . . who all call her Pink Grandma. Her philosophy of life is to “Think Pink!” to see love and inner beauty in everything and everyone around her, and to feel the energy and aura that a color can give us by letting people see life through rose-colored glasses.

I’m sold! After listening to this interview  - you will be, too!
    Love,

    Susie xoxo

If you get back up, you will succeed. Failure is not to be feared. Failure is a step in the road to greatness. Everyone fails, but those that get back up eventually succeed.

Life is not an easy road and I recommend you do something different. Have a living bucket list, a list of things to do while you're alive and can enjoy them, not a list of things to do before you die. Make it happen. You've got this!!1

    When You Fall,Get Back Up

    When You Fall,Get Back Up

    Hello there:)

In this episode, we're going to talk about what to do when you fall down, mess up, or face discouragement on the pathway to healing. As many of you know, all can be going rather smoothly in your life, and then one day you wake up and it's just hard. This can feel rather confusing when we are doing all the right things.

Sometimes, on the journey of healing, while we are enjoying new freedoms in Christ from our past hurts and hang-ups, things just get difficult. We can feel out of sorts and be taken by surprise when what was easy yesterday is hard today.

Today, I want to share some of my "fall down" moments with you, and the lessons I am learning as I travel through them. I think it will encourage you and help to bring some perspective to your moments of weakness as we journey together to be stronger in Christ.

Episode #009: Don't Fear Bags of Water

Episode #009: Don't Fear Bags of Water

Why be afraid of naysayers and critics when they are just water?

Truth is, the bible teaches us in James 4:14 (NIV) “You are a mist that appears for a little while, and then vanishes.” Even scientists agree. Did you know that the average human body is about 60% water? More surprisingly, our lungs, muscles, brain and kidneys are between 73-83% water.

Why does this matter? It matters because when we choose to walk in fear of what others may say or think, we literally choose to fear bags or bodies of water. As ridiculous as that sounds, that is what we are doing when we walk in fear.

So, let us move forth and enjoy life and take chances by pursuing our dreams without allowing our naysayers and critics to hold us back.

Ecclesiastes 5:18 teaches us that we are to eat and drink and find satisfaction in our labor during the few days of life God has given us.

Let us also remember that we don’t have to fear what bags of water may attempt to do in our lives to harm us because Isaiah 54:17 teaches us that no weapon formed against us will ever prosper!

How To Fall (or, Confidence for Walking)

How To Fall (or, Confidence for Walking)

When my kids were learning to walk, one of the very first things I taught them was how to fall.  Knowing how to fall is crucial for good, confident walking – for walking without fear of falling.  Like children learning to walk, we are going to fall.  How does our heavenly Father want us to respond to and deal with falling?  In today’s episode, I want to talk about how to fall in such a way that gives us confidence for walking with Christ.

What if you were best friends with your body

What if you were best friends with your body

What if you were best friends with your body instead of enemies? In this episode, I explain how I talk to my body and the science behind how molecules can actually change if you speak kindly to them.

Are you enemies with your body? Do you speak unkindly to your body? My relationship with my body in the past was toxic and extremely unkind. Last year, my goal was to discover how I could be best friends with my body. I now greet my body every morning, ask her what she’d like and bring my homie along with me everywhere I go. Join me in the fun!
