In this episode I welcome Kevin Polowy. Kevin is a veteran journalist and senior correspondent and host for Yahoo Entertainment. He's previously covered Hollywood for MTV, AOL/Moviefone, URB, and Premiere Magazine. He is also a writer-director-producer-DJ whose film credits include the Billy Crystal comedy “Standing Up, Falling Down” and the Lance Diamond documentary “A Diamond in the Buff.” His other obsessions include Buffalo sports, ‘90s hip-hop, and hot sauce. And Kevin has two daughters, Lyla and Luna, that have become media sensations in their own right, interviewing top celebrities for a series called "Kid Gloves" on Yahoo. Kevin and I talk about the work/life balance, best tracks for a daddy-daughter playlist, and creating the space to be silly with our kids.

This episode features  PART TWO of a conversation with my guest & lifelong friend, Rudolph Joseph.

In Rudolph's own words he is a "father first, son, brother, uncle, and a man after Gods own heart. Born and raise in Miami, FL. You can say Florida grown and Dade county fundamentals. Strong passion for bringing out the best in others! Love to read, write (poetry) and spending time with my daughters as they are my purpose! 38 years come October 19… I truly believe God never gives you more then you can bear, so why complain (who’s really listening)? For me it’s simple, once you begin, the rest is easy… you must always put forth an effort! The end result of that will be a betterment for you now and for your future! My mother is my biggest inspiration!"

He opens up about the tumultuous nature of the relationship between he and his ex-wife and how that plays into his ability to be involved in his children's lives. Rudolph reflects on the significance of the time he spent caring for his ill father prior to his passing, and how the instructions his father had planted in him came to full fruition once his second child was born. He also reflects on the value of therapy and the taboo nature surrounding encouraging men and fathers to seek support through therapy. Finally, Rudolph paints a vivid and disturbing portrait of his experience fighting for his paternal rights in family court in Tennessee.

This episode features a conversation with my guest, Ben Diaz.

Ben is a casual everyday dad who is caught between trying to be cool & dad at the same time. He is married for six years to his lovely wife, Yaritza, who reminds him-sometimes-it's not possible to be both. Then there is the little person who calls him "daddy", their 3-year-old girl, Mila. Ben is living his dream of being a husband to a queen and dad to a princess, but it wasn't without some trying moments on his journey to fatherhood.

In this conversation Ben talks about dealing with the loss of his wife's first pregnancy, and the decision that helped set themselves up to be supported during their second go around. We also talk about perspectives he's gained about his childhood and relationship with his father now being a dad.
