When Work Gets Stressful | Dr. Jen Bennet

When Work Gets Stressful | Dr. Jen Bennet

Friends, are the pressures of work-related stress starting to take a toll on your well-being? If you've ever found yourself grappling with the challenges of a demanding, stressful job, this episode is tailor-made for you. Join me as we explore the topic of when work gets stressful.

In this new episode, I specifically chat through:

    • The widespread issue of work-related stress.
    • The stories of Moses, Joseph, Daniel, and Esther, who faced their workplace challenges.
    • Strategies for coping with stress in your professional life.
    • How to stay steadfast and not succumb to doubts and stress.

Friends, remember this: Your work matters, and your potential for impact is limitless. Embrace your purpose, and lean into God's guidance for your career. Don't let stress deter you from the incredible influence you can have in shaping culture through your work, leadership, and influence. Resist the enemy's attempts to sow doubt and stress, and instead, stand firm in your calling. Your work is significant, and you have been created to thrive in it.

     Questions to Consider:

    • Am I prioritizing my relationship with God in my daily work routine, and if not, what steps can I take to incorporate faith into my work life?
    • How does my work align with my Christian values and principles, and do I feel a sense of purpose in what I do?
    • Have I sought guidance through prayer when faced with a stressful work situation, and how has it helped me find peace and clarity?
    • In what ways can I actively trust in God's plan for my career, even when faced with uncertainty and challenges?
    • Are there specific Bible verses or passages that resonate with me when dealing with work-related stress, and how can I apply them in my life?
    • What role does gratitude play in my work life, and how can I cultivate a more thankful attitude, even in challenging circumstances?
    • Am I taking care of my physical and mental well-being while navigating the stresses of work, and am I seeking professional help if needed?
    • What adjustments can I make to prioritize rest and family time?
    • How can I use my work as an opportunity impact culture for Christ, even in a stressful environment?

    Prepare Yourself For Negativity

    Prepare Yourself For Negativity

In this episode of Navigate the Day, we are encouraged to prepare ourselves for negativity and difficult people that we may encounter throughout the day. The episode starts with a quote from Marcus Aurelius, reminding us to avoid taking the behavior of others personally and instead focus on promoting the greater good by working together in cooperation.

The journal prompt for this episode is, "Despite the worst things people do, can I love them anyway?" The speaker takes a somewhat skeptical view of the prompt, acknowledging that it can be difficult to love people despite their worst actions. However, they also recognize that everyone makes mistakes and failure is necessary for growth. By accepting that humans are flawed creatures, we can be less harsh on ourselves and others.

The speaker also emphasizes the importance of self-love and forgiveness, recognizing that we must be willing to love and forgive ourselves in the same way that we love and forgive others. They suggest that showing love and compassion can mean different things in different situations, but patience is always necessary when dealing with difficult people.

Overall, this episode is an inspirational reminder to approach each day with a positive mindset and to work together in cooperation with others. The speaker encourages us to be patient with ourselves and others and to embrace our flaws and mistakes as opportunities for growth.

Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!

Amy Veltman shares life lessons in being human from her budding stand-up comedy career. A veteran of the improv world, we also discuss what it really means (and what our goals are) when we "celebrate failure" and how speeding up can slow us down. We also discuss the importance of listening for the unheard voices in the room and making visible the barriers that keep them from the spotlight.

Amy Veltman began her career as a professional screenwriter in NY and LA. To put her husband through medical school, Amy made a pivot to marketing in Portland, Oregon, where she started working with international improv consultancy On Your Feet, in which she became a partner. Currently, she produces and co-hosts the podcast 2 Moms on the Couch and is a stand-up comic in New York City. She lives with her husband, now a psychiatrist, and 2 teen daughters.
