2.0 Derby Special with EquinEdge CEO Scotty McKeever

2.0 Derby Special with EquinEdge CEO Scotty McKeever

This episode of the In the Club Podcast by Club Colors is our 2.0 Derby Special show! We welcome back EquinEdge CEO Scotty McKeever, as well as Club Colors Co-CEO Cris Tase, as they talk about the revolutionizing power of EquinEdge in using machine learning and metrics to speed up the handicapping process.

Scotty shares their cutting-edge machine learning that grabs statistics and applies it to pace numbers. This feature is currently 72.5% accurate in predicting the top 1 and 2 places, including first-time starters!

He then discusses their Genetic Strength Ratings (GSRs) that provide users with a horse's 1 to 100 score that goes back 3 generations, all in a matter of seconds. Their patented ticket generator also allows users to choose a wager and budget to generate a ticket to play, as simple as that.

Scotty goes on the Hot Iron with JMo and he reveals the top 3 historical figures he'd sit with front row at the Derby and his top tips on reading horses (and jockeys!) better. Scotty also gives his fearless predictions on the Derby, so stick around!

    HIGHLIGHT QUOTES

Using EquinEdge's handicaps for a better strategy - Cris: "Depending on how you handicap, you're getting all the tools involved in your strategy, but at least it gives you a more informed view of how you should think about the horses that will be involved in that strategy."

Scotty: "Well, a lot of top handicaps will tell you as well that that pace makes the race and then class, meaning that's our SoR, our strength of race. So those are two super important factors."

EquinEdge makes you WIN more - Scotty: "It's just so much more fun if you enjoy horse racing. It's just a blast. It's so much fun and it's so easy to use and the community's great and you get to know people and it's just fun around it when you're losing less and winning more, that just creates an energy that's really fun to be around."

A Culture of Authenticity: Launching Initiatives for Growth with Cris Tase

A Culture of Authenticity: Launching Initiatives for Growth with Cris Tase

This episode of the In The Club Podcast by Club Colors Season 2 features our very own Co-CEO Cris Tase. Today, he shares the relaunch of Green Week, a Club Colors initiative that aims to get new recruits into our culture as soon as possible.

He talks about the reality that happy and engaged employees perform better and how a team united behind the mission vision creates a significant impact. Cris also shares how he builds the team based on empathy and trust and the satisfaction of giving qualified people the chance to do great things.

Cris and John discuss other huge updates too like their sales kickoff and the launch of DesignLab, as well as some of the standout growth they have seen in their people. Cris also digs into leadership and how Club Colors values mentorship, growing new leaders with character, and making dreams come true.

    HIGHLIGHT QUOTES

Green Week welcomes new recruits into the Club Colors culture - Cris: "You go through the culture piece, the history of the organization just the jargon of this is what we are. You've seen us through a lot of different vehicles but this is who we are. And then lastly, they do job shadowing, they get to spend some time in all the different functional groups, and it ends with a lunch at the end of Green Week."

Give people a chance to be the best version of themselves - Cris: "Skillset is one thing. I think the way people work is a different thing, and the way people want to work with others is a third component. You never know if somebody wasn't given the opportunity or if they've had the opportunity if they just didn't have the right timing and the right teammates to bring that opportunity to fruition. So I think for us it's always about giving them the ability, giving anybody on the team the ability to speak their mind, share their dreams, and also take a chance."

Gamification Creates a Better Buying Experience with Joe Tomal

Gamification Creates a Better Buying Experience with Joe Tomal

This episode of the In The Club Podcast by Club Colors features Joe Tomal, Head of Global Enterprise Sales at Convincely. Joe starts today's conversation by sharing the company's expansion to North America, a milestone, and how they bring to this new market their gamified customer engagement methods.

Joe also discusses how they conduct their A/B testing to provide constantly updated data on how their customers want to be sold to. This not only gives back more accurate data for marketing and sales but ultimately gives the customer an overall better buying experience. Joe also gives his tips on tenacity and motivation so sellers can make their job their own business and find success.

    HIGHLIGHT QUOTES

Have the tenacity and determination to treat your sales job as your own business - Joe: "I think a lot of it is just tenacity, motivation, and determination. I think you have to be in a position where you're always one that stays focused. But you always have to treat it like as your own business. And I know people always say that, it's kind of cliche, but think about it. If you decided to take the career in sales, you have to treat it as your own business."

Disrupting the Promotional Products Industry Through Automation with Jason Reinhardt

Disrupting the Promotional Products Industry Through Automation with Jason Reinhardt

This episode of the In The Club Podcast by Club Colors features Jason Reinhardt, Co-Founder, and CCO at BRIKL. He shares how embracing technology is the hardest part because, if it was truly difficult, it would not be possible for BRIKL to be in business.

He talks about how he automated many seemingly small sales processes and created an internal environment founded on collective effort. Jason digs into actionable ways to drum up engagement from your team, as well as leadership lessons from running marathons.

Jason also discusses their drive for standardization by joining hackathons and focusing not just on their buyer's experience, but the end-user's experience. John adds that offering solutions that create the best outcomes for clients' brands is what compels clients to keep coming back.

    HIGHLIGHT QUOTES

A collective effort to create the best outcome for the client - Jason: "I changed one thing and one thing only. Everything done in our sales department is a collective effort and everything that's divided, any bonuses, anything we're doing is a collective effort. And what happens is, once I get my foundation in, I never have to hire anybody. The team does."

End-users prefer convenience over the complexity of choices - John: "In this field, it's about the experience. Could I say I want apparel, promo, hashtags, content creation, kitting, fulfillment, and all of it, could I just give all of that to you and get the same exact experience every single time? That, ideally, is what an end-user wants."

Don't give buyers choices, give them guidance - Jason: "If you're a professional salesperson, you understand the industry and you can guide your clients. And I only like to work with professional salespeople because I do want guidance. I didn't come here to tell you what to do. It's your product... you do this for a living, where are the blind spots that I'm missing?"

Guarantee the Integrity of Your Service with Steven Schmidt Part 2

Guarantee the Integrity of Your Service with Steven Schmidt Part 2

This episode of the In The Club Podcast by Club Colors is the last part of our interview with Steven Schmidt, Founder and CEO of TIDAL, along with Club Colors' own Co-CEO Jeff Baumet. Steve and Jeff talk about CEO concerns, from the guarantees they give on service level to Steve's mindset shift moving from CEO to CRO. But as the only thing you can really guarantee is your integrity and hold yourself up to it, Steve emphasizes that this is the number one principle that drives his company forward.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • SLAs and guaranteeing your level of service
    • Steve shifts from CEO to CRO, pros and cons of co-CEOs
    • Internal competition at the expense of other team members
    • Working with TIDAL for data and integrity

    QUOTES

Steven: "Coming out of a CEO role, not on a CRO role, there is some grief associated with that. I will not lie. There's a little bit of grief and fear that you failed. That you couldn't do it. That you could've built this thing that was consistency, a million dollar in your pocket lifestyle business. But that's not the regret I had. The regret I have, because I'm hard on myself, is that I didn't do a better job the first time."

Steven: "Attrition's the most costly thing in business besides discounting, which salespeople love to do. So you know what gets really expensive? Attriting salespeople who already discount."

Jeff: "Peers in an organization who become competitive with each other, where you're competitive at the expense of the organization, at the expense of the team member, at the expense of anyone, I think that's really where it breaks down is that I have to win. I have to win over this person instead of we have to come to a good resolution."
