Roots of Reggae with Ziggy Marley & Shaggy
With the help of dancehall legend Shaggy and reggae legend Ziggy Marley, host Peter J. Kim looks at Jamaican cuisine and culture: from patties to patois, the origins of toasting and (quite possibly) the smoothie, the underlying current of personal and societal revolution that pulses through reggae, and what a Jamaican restaurant menu can tell you about the country's multicultural history.
That's a wrap for Season 3—we'll be back in a bit, but in the meantime, check out Counterjam on Spotify for Peter's playlist of the wonderful musicians we couldn't quite squeeze into this season.
Hot Shot 20/20 Shaggy
In honor of the 20th anniversary of Shaggy's chart-topping album Hot Shot, the reggae legend is releasing an updated version for fans! This episode includes a special interview with Shaggy and many tunes from the new album
Episode 79: A Lesson in The Law of Attraction from Shaggy (IT WASNT ME!)
Our lovely host sits down to do a solo jam on the Law of Attraction and not giving up too soon by going over the incredible story (that almost wasn't) of the hit song "It Wasn't Me".
She talks on how: Even when things seem their most dire; that gold strike could be right around the corner, down the road, or downloaded from Napster.
You'll enjoy this one!!!
It Wasn’t Me - Shaggy
Who would have thought that the worst advice ever given to an adulterer would come from someone as wise as Shaggy? Xav, Dan, Bevo & Chibbsy try to keep up with all the places that Rik Rok was caught smashing his neighbour and if the “It Wasn’t Me” defence really holds up.
Bio:
"It Wasn't Me" is the first single from Jamaican-American reggae artist Shaggy's multi-Platinum studio album Hot Shot (2000). The song features vocals from Shaggy and Rikrok. The lyrics of the song depict one man asking his friend what to do after his girlfriend caught him having sex with another woman. His friend's advice is to deny everything, despite clear evidence to the contrary, with the phrase "It wasn't me."
