Ladies' Choice: Freaks and Geeks (1999-2000) with Danaca Arnold

Season 2 premiere! We are devoting February to the Ladies. Our wives picked the topics for us, and one will even make a special appearance! In this episode we preview their choices and talk about some of the women in pop culture we have loved over the years. In addition we welcome our first ever live guest, Brad's sister Danaca, to the show! She chose the classic and tragically short-lived show Freaks and Geeks for our first discussion of our second season. Enjoy!

In Memoriam (Ivan Reitman): I Love You, Man / Top 5 Buddy Comedies

In Memoriam (Ivan Reitman): I Love You, Man / Top 5 Buddy Comedies

To close out the year, we are remembering some of those whom we lost in 2022. We've each chosen one person to remember by discussing a project they were associated with. First up, Brad chose Ivan Reitman, producer and director of some of the all-time classic comedies.

We've already covered Ghostbusters, so we're discussing something a little more recent, the Ivan Reitman-produced platonic romantic comedy I Love You, Man starring Paul Rudd, Jason Segal, Rashida Jones, Andy Samberg, JK Simmons, Jane Curtin, Jon Favreau, and a host of others! Maybe a somewhat overlooked stone cold classic, are all three hosts in agreement of this movie's brilliance?

We finish by discussing some of our favorite buddy comedies of all-time. There's even a little controversy on the #1 position! So get ready to slap some bass and listen along. Big time!

    Windfall

    Windfall

In this week’s episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss the simple but effective Netflix crime thriller, Windfall! Does the movie deliver on the Hitchcockian vibe of the opening credits? Do the small cast and singular location limit the drama or add to it?

In addition to the Windfall discussion, Matt has become increasingly frustrated with his boss and uncle, the mysterious “shadow producer,” Robert Pentor. Will Matt finally summon the strength to stand up for himself?! Listen now to find out!

You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends!

The AIPT Movies podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris, Tim Gardiner, and Matt Paul, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from three filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. You can find Alex on Instagram and Twitter @alexharriscomix. Matt is a terrific artist that you can find on Instagram @no_wheres_ville. Tim can’t be found on social media because he doesn’t exist. If you have any questions or suggestions for the AIPT Movies crew, they can be reached at aiptmoviespod@gmail.com, or you can find them on Twitter @AIPTmoviesPod.

Theme song is “We Got it Goin On” by Cobra Man.

The AIPT Movies Podcast received zero paid promotion from Chili’s. Unfortunately.

    Seth Rogen

    Seth Rogen

Kevin Hart is joined by writer, director, actor, and comedy icon Seth Rogen on this week’s episode. The two discuss everything from his work with Judd Apatow, to the controversy surrounding his movie ‘The Interview’, and the lessons he learned from Lorne Michaels about how to make a great film.

    S2 E25: Knocked Up

    S2 E25: Knocked Up

This week we rewatch the Judd Apatow classic 'Knocked Up'. Did you know Jay Baruchel used to be on the show 'Popular Mechanics' for kids with Elisha Cuthbert back in the day. There’s also a scene where Seth Rogen is dancing and incessentantly does the ‘dice roll’ move on the d-floor… definitely one of the most awkward moves to try and pull out.

‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’: Mamo Bane, Konane Lono and Bane Keahi Welcome You

‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’: Mamo Bane, Konane Lono and Bane Keahi Welcome You

The guys all got their Hawaiian names ready for the vacation comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The guys dip deep into the uproarious film by discussing how often they’ve seen it and where it ranks in the Judd Apatow realm of movies. They talk Jason Segel and his many talents including writing, keyboard, singing and full frontal nudity. The guys then get into all the hilarious scenes and quotes and get into who the best supporting star is, in a film full of them. Most hated is a runaway victory for one character while the guys have many disagreements with MVP, and the Jules Award winner. Recasting is pretty tough with a movie from 2008 but the guys put an interesting and different set of characters in The Recast. Grab the silly Hawaiian shirt (or don’t), brush up on your surfing skills and get ready to love some Rock Opera as you listen to this one! Oh the weather outside is weather..
