Season 2 premiere! We are devoting February to the Ladies. Our wives picked the topics for us, and one will even make a special appearance! In this episode we preview their choices and talk about some of the women in pop culture we have loved over the years. In addition we welcome our first ever live guest, Brad's sister Danaca, to the show! She chose the classic and tragically short-lived show Freaks and Geeks for our first discussion of our second season. Enjoy!

Jordan and Brooke take you on a twisty, murderous ride filled with fabulous pantsuits and dubious incest for Paul Feig's 2018 film. Listen along for a thorough history of "domestic female thriller" novels (aka "Gone Girl" ripoffs), the evolution of Stephanie and Emily's sapphic explorations, Henry Golding's charming star power, and the definitive best way to make a martini.

Lisa Ann Walter on 'Shall We Dance?' 'Paper Moon,' and Funny Broads

From her roles in a semi-autobiographical sitcom in 1996 (Life's Work) to The Parent Trap to Abbott Elementary, Lisa Ann Walter has played a lot of different kinds of strong, brassy women. And even though standards of beauty and acceptance in Hollywood are always changing, those winds haven't always blown in her favor. But what makes an icon iconic is her unwavering commitment to being her own unmistakable self.

After talking with Lisa, Jordan has one quick thing about Fast X (and especially Jason Momoa).

    Heavyweights feat. Matt Pais

Chicago-based critic and author of the new book "Talk 90s with Me: 23 Unpredictable Conversations with Stars of an Unforgettable Decade" Matt Pais joins us to discuss the kids cult classic 'Heavyweights'.

After a conversation about Matt's new book, we talk through the film's empathetic and nuanced portrayal of fatness (notably featuring an ensemble of actors of size), its place within the canon of 90s anti-conformity comedies, and why this might be Ben Stiller's most pitch-perfect performance.

    A Simple Favor | Ep 14

    A Simple Favor | Ep 14
Follow the breadcrumbs to this month’s episode as Austin and Big T talk about the 2018 black comedy crime thriller, A Simple Favor. Pull up a chair as we discuss what we did and didn’t like about the film, which characters we sympathized with the most, and what subtle hints of foreshadowing we saw throughout the film. We explore how this film plays with expectations (maybe on purpose, or maybe not), and we get to the bottom of whether we think Stephanie really was the saint everyone assumed her to be. Then, join us next month as we dive into the 2014 sci-fi thriller, Ex Machina. Episodes are released the first Monday of every month. Heavyweights

    Heavyweights
It's 'Summer Camp Month' on Late to the Movies! Ben, Robbie, and Will start our month-long look at movies set at summer camps with 1995's Heavyweights! Directed by Steven Brill, written by Brill and Judd Apatow, and starring Ben Stiller, Tom McGowan, Aaron Schwartz, Shaun Weiss, Tom Hodges, Leah Lail, Paul Feig, Kenan Thompson, Jeffrey Tambor, Jerry Stiller, and Anne Meara.

Episode 25: Heavyweights...You'll all be a bunch of skinny winners!

Episode 25: Heavyweights...You'll all be a bunch of skinny winners!

    Did he say skinny wieners?

Summer rolls on as we explore this classic 90s flick about a boy heading to fat camp.  But things take a turn when Tony Perkins takes over and makes the campers lives a living hell.  Ben Stiller gave a classic performance that rivals his 'Dodgeball' performance.  Also flanking Stiller is a young Kenan Thompson and Paul Feig pre Bridesmaids.  Lots of great one liners that not only was great for family's but 90s movies such as these did have some balls to throw in some "PG" esque humor in there.

    WARNING - LANGUAGE

Ten years ago, this movie was hyped up as “The Female Hangover” and gratefully, it turned out to be so much more than just a raunchy, gross-out comedy.

This was the break-out movie for the new comedy mega-star Melissa McCarthy – a role that she received an Oscar nomination!  And she was only a supporting character amidst a stacked cast of gifted comediennes including Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, and Maya Rudolph – Paul Feig directed this loving tribute to female friendship and Wilson Phillips.

The Reel Critic Movie Review, Last Christmas

The Reel Critic Movie Review, Last Christmas

This episode is about the movie Last Christmas starring Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Emma Thompson, and Michelle Yeoh.  Clarke plays Kate who harumphs around London, a bundle of bad decisions accompanied by the jangle of bells on her shoes, another irritating consequence from her job as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop. Tom (Henry Golding) seems too good to be true when he walks into her life and starts to see through so many of Kate’s barriers. As London transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, nothing should work for these two. But sometimes, you gotta let the snow fall where it may, you gotta listen to your heart … and you gotta have faith. Directed by Paul Feig, from a screenplay by Academy Award winner Emma Thompson and playwright Bryony Kimmings, Last Christmas is a romantic comedy inspired by the music of George Michael, including the bittersweet holiday classic of the film’s title.
