Freedom Of Speech is a BURDEN and Should Be CENSORED - Areopagitica - Milton - HC Vol. 3 Ep13

Freedom Of Speech is a BURDEN and Should Be CENSORED - Areopagitica - Milton - HC Vol. 3 Ep13

Freedom to express opinion and debate ideas has been the foundational aspect of Western civilization since the inception of our culture.  Without the freedom to print, write, and speak freely we lose the ability to understand what "truth" is.  To seek anything beyond what is "truth", is to seek appeasement. The ability to distinguish between what is good and what is evil is rooted in our ability to choose and reason. John Milton explains all of this and more in his historical masterpiece of a speech "Areopagitica".   I truly hope you enjoy this video on book 3 of volume 3 of the Harvard Classics. SH 209: A Meaty Thunder!

    SH 209: A Meaty Thunder!
Just as Johnny gets ready to dive into important, heady material, he's interrupted by Steve from sales at Johnny's day gig. Then it's time for another installment of ChatGPT Poetry Corner! Johnny's first two requests are DENIED by ChatGPT for being inappropriate. Then Johnny strikes gold with two requests: 1. Pretend you are John Milton. You are at home eating lunch when a strange package arrives. You open the package. It is full of magical meatballs. The meatballs inspire you to write a poem. What would this poem be? "Oh, what strange enchantment fills my humble abode, As a package arrives with a wondrous load. Magical meatballs, so strange and so rare, They fill me with wonder, with awe and with care. Their power so great, their taste so divine, My heart sings with joy, my soul starts to shine. And as I partake of this mystical feast, My mind starts to race, my inspiration released. The words start to flow, like a river unbound, A poem takes shape, with its rhythms and sounds. The meatballs inspire, with their mystical force, A tale of wonder, of magic, of course. And so I write, with a feverish pace, A tale of enchantment, of mystical grace. The meatballs have done what no other could do, Inspired a poem, with its beauty so true. Oh, magical meatballs, you've brought me such joy, You've inspired a poem, with words to deploy. And as I finish, with my pen to my page, I give thanks to the meatballs, for this wondrous stage." 2. You are James Hetfield of Metallica. You go bowling. When you get to the bowling alley, you realize that the only bowling balls available are made of meatballs. Write a heavy metal song about bowling with meatballs. Verse 1: Bowling with meatballs, it's a crazy sight I grip one in my hand, feels like dynamite The pins are set, and I let it fly Meatball explosion, gonna touch the sky Chorus: Bowling with meatballs, it's a metal dream Strike after strike, it's louder than it seems Bowling with meatballs, let the good times roll It's a meaty thunder, gonna rock and bowl Verse 2: The grease is dripping, my fingers are stained But I'll keep on bowling, it's worth the pain My ball is a weapon, it's a tasty fight Meatball madness, gonna hit it right Chorus: Bowling with meatballs, it's a metal dream Strike after strike, it's louder than it seems Bowling with meatballs, let the good times roll It's a meaty thunder, gonna rock and bowl Bridge: Meatballs flying, pins are dying This is how we roll, it's our time to shine No need for fancy balls, we got what we need Meatball power, it's a metal creed Chorus: Bowling with meatballs, it's a metal dream Strike after strike, it's louder than it seems Bowling with meatballs, let the good times roll It's a meaty thunder, gonna rock and bowl Outro: Bowling with meatballs, it's a heavy metal show We'll keep on rolling, 'til we can't no more So come on, let's bowl with meatballs tonight It's a metallic feast, gonna do it right.

God Doesn’t Need You (Milton’s “When I Consider How My Light is Spent”)

God Doesn’t Need You (Milton’s “When I Consider How My Light is Spent”)

John Milton (1608-1674) is second only to Shakespeare when it comes to poets in the English speaking world. But before he could write his greatest masterpiece, he lost his vision and fell blind, becoming completely unable to write. As a deeply religious man who loved God, Milton could not understand why God would strip him of his sight and rob him of his chance to pen Paradise Lost. After profound reflection, Milton showcases his vision of God and humility in the only way he knew how: with poetry. Then, he wrote Paradise Lost from behind the dark canvas of his eye lids.
