    Like Heart Surgery: ¡Liberado en México! with Matt Lozano and Gilbert Rodriguez

    Join Matt Lozano and Gilbert Rodriguez as they share details from the Freedom In Christ conference held in San Juan, Mexico, last summer.

    Gilbert is Associate Director of Adult Faith Formation in the New York Archdiocese and has extensive ministry experience. He helps run Freedom in Christ conferences in Spanish. Gilbert tells of first benefitting from Unbound ministry in 2012 and how he was set free from fear. He continued on to make major life decisions, including a marriage proposal!

    We hear Matt extol the hospitality of the Mexican people and the goodness of heart he witnessed there, saying, “The Father’s blessing is imbedded in them.”

    Stories are shared about individuals set free through Unbound prayer with joy, even to the point of abounding laughter! Gilbert relates a funny memory involving caramel at a Cathedral and Matt follows up with a tale about a stolen Rolex watch. We even learn of a skeptical priest who was won over, saying the Unbound session he witnessed was “like heart surgery!”

    This encouraging episode reminds us that Unbound ministry is growing amidst our southern neighbors in Mexico. Listen and enjoy!

    The Day I Got ENGAGED!

    The Day I Got ENGAGED!

    Have you ever thought…when will it be my turn?

    I’m here to let you know that the Universe always has your back (even if it feels like it doesn’t) and when you ask questions, the Universe will give you the awareness…if you’re truly asking.

    Two years ago, I had absolutely no hope and I was extremely heartbroken and angry and I desired to meet “my partner.”. I always knew he was out there and I knew he was looking for me too. I never wanted to settle down. I desired to level up.

    Many of us are living in other people’s realities and choosing for them and not for ourselves or what will create the most for everyone. I continued to choose what I knew and continued to make choices that would lead me to my partner.

    In this podcast I share with you the story of how Patrick and I got engaged. This is the story about how he truly surprised me with a surprise birthday party and how he popped the question for us to continue to create our lives together. What else is possible?

    Are you willing to know what you know? DM me on Instagram with a “👍🏼“ emoji if you’re willing and ready to choose for YOU and KNOW what you KNOW!

    IN THIS EPISODE, I TALK ABOUT:

    • How Patrick surprised me and I had ZERO clue about the party.
    • How it was challenging to receive all the love and support from my friends and family.
    • How I wanted to run because receiving all the love was hard for me.
    • The tools I used to receive more of the love and be aggressively present during the party and proposal.

    If you loved this episode, it would mean the world to me if you SUBSCRIBED to the podcast on your favorite podcast app and give it a 5 star review. I would be forever grateful! Thank you!!

    Create a life you love:Chantal Cox

    Create a life you love:Chantal Cox

    In this episode, Chantal talks about her transformative journey from being in an abusive marriage to creating a life she loves. Chantal shares that two of her non-negotiables before entering into marriage were that she wanted kids and that she didn't believe in divorce. When her husband dropped the bomb that he didn’t want any more kids as his son from a previous relationship was going off to kindergarten soon and he didn’t want to go back to diapers, she was devastated. She figured she would have to go to therapy and cope with this news, because she was not getting divorced. Being raised with a strong Christian background, Chantal did not ever consider divorce as an option, even through all of the physical abuse she endured. On her 30th birthday, she made the decision to leave. It was after she had a conversation with her father that she realized that ending her marriage was the only option. After about 6 months of messiness, Chantal made the decision to create a new vision of what her life could look like and set out on a journey of transformation. Chantal shares how a few years into her journey friends and family took notice of her change and started asking questions. They wanted to know how she had become so much happier, healthier, and confident and wanted her to help themselves do the same.

    Chantal Cox is a special educator, author, speaker and Transformation NeuroCoach™ who helps women experiencing life transitions to create a new vision for themselves, reconnect with their passion and purpose, and turn their transition into their triumphant transformation. Her book, Create a Life You Love: 10 Healthy Habits to Transform Your Life Now, shares her personal transformation story in an easy to read format that feels like you are having a cup of coffee with a long lost friend.  Each chapter ends with practical steps that anyone can implement to kick off their own journey and experience a transformation of their own. She then went on to found Create a Life You Love Coaching and start The Create a Life You Love Podcast where she connects with people from around the world to share tips and strategies to help others on their journeys.

    INANE :: episode 38

    INANE :: episode 38
    Facebook had one hell of a bad week, and for one day the internet was a better place. This week’s topics include the truth behind Facebook’s algorithm and how Zuckerberg has become a modern day James Cagney, the oil spill crisis happening right off of my coast and affecting one of my favorite bike paths, Captain Kirk’s plans to actually travel to space, why I’m so horrible at economics, how being a photographer in college affected the rest of my life, the single worst dating profile in history, Owen Wilson’s nose, Casey DeSantis’ battle with breast cancer, a marriage proposal that ended in disaster, why I stopped sharing Slate’s advice column, and the importance of reading the news instead of watching it.

    Tooth and Claw, the world of Tiamath

    Tooth and Claw, the world of Tiamath

    For our first novel, we are going to be having a look at the world and dragons of Tiamath, from Jo Walton's book "Tooth and Claw".  Every character is a dragon in this victorian english setting, and we follow the children of the Agornin family following their father's death.

    We start with a review, touching on the general pacing, language used, and lightly touching on the themes and plot to help you decide if you would like to read and experience for yourselves.  Then, after a quick break to give you time to stop the episode if you decide to pick this book up for yourself, you may join us as we discuss the plot in depth, the characters themselves, and how Jo handles a world of dragons.

    Love and Marriage

    Love and Marriage

    Episode 9 features the stories of couples who met, got engaged or married in Coney Island, all taken from the History Project’s oral history archive. Visitors to our exhibition center often tell us that they or their parents or grandparents met or had their first date in Coney Island. Over the years, we’ve witnessed marriage proposals on the Wonder Wheel and weddings and wedding party rides on the Cyclone roller coaster.

    Many a Coney Island courtship of the 20th century began on the beach and continued with a stroll on the boardwalk and ride on the Steeplechase horses. Steeplechase Park founder George C. Tilyou famously observed of his mechanical horse race ride that “the young men like it because it gives them a chance to hug the girls; the girls like it, because it gives them a chance to get hugged.”

    The oral histories in the podcast are with Ellen Abrams, Michael Liff, Max and Stef, Tara Altebrando, Gina Femia, and The Reverend Cliff Herring. The interviews were conducted by Charles Denson, Katya Kumkova, Ali Lemer and Tricia Vita between 2014 and 2021. You can search and listen online to over 390 oral history interviews, including the ones featured in this podcast, via https://www.coneyislandhistory.org/oral-history-archive. This episode was produced by Charles Denson, Ali Lemer and Tricia Vita. Music by Blue Dot Sessions.
