The Supreme Court Wednesday reserved its order on the Delhi government’s plea challenging the nomination of 10 aldermen by the Lieutenant Governor to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and observed that with the power, the L-G can “effectively destabilise” the democratically elected municipal corporation. As the national capital went to polls on Sunday, in his final appeal to the voters, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal asked Delhi residents to vote for an honest party and not to vote for corruption. Kejriwal took to Twitter and wrote, "Today we are voting to make Delhi clean and beautiful, there is voting to make a corruption-free government in the municipal corporation. My appeal to all the Delhiites - go cast your vote today to form an honest and functioning government in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

देश कि राजधानी दिल्ली स्थित जहांगीरपुरी में सुप्रीम कोर्ट के आदेश के बावजूद चल रहे बुलडोज़र आखिरकार थम गए. बता दें कि हिंसा के बाद सामान्य होते हालात के बीच आज उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम (NDMC) की तरफ से जहांगीरपुरी में अतिक्रमण हटाओ अभियान चलाया गया लेकिन सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने इस पर रोक लगा दी. दिल्ली पुलिस के स्पेशल सीपी दीपेंद्र पाठक ने कहा है कि सुप्रीम कोर्ट का आदेश मिल गया है. कार्रवाई रोक दी गई है. अभी यहां के हालात शांतिपूर्ण हैं. पर्याप्त संख्या में पुलिसबल तैनात किए गए हैं. 

दिल्ली के जहांगीरपुरी में हनुमान जयंती के मौके पर हुई हिंसा के बाद उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम ने अवैध अतिक्रमण के नाम पर इलाके में बुलडोजर चलाना शुरू कर ही दिया था जिसके बाद सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम द्वारा किए जा रहे अवैध अतिक्रमण को हटाने के अभियान पर रोक लगाने के आदेश दे दिए थे. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने यथास्थिति बनाए रखने का आदेश दिया है. वरिष्ठ पत्रकार सतीश झा इस मुद्दे पर अपनी राय व्यक्त कर रहे हैं. 

Many meat shops in the Indian capital, Delhi, have been closed for two days after civic officials asked them to remain shut for Navratri - a Hindu festival observed over nine days.
