Could an MP present the Today programme?

Could an MP present the Today programme?

In a week where broadcasters with shows hosted by politicians were warned they could face fines if they break impartiality rules during the next general election campaign, Nick looks at the issues it raises about which programmes MPs should be allowed to present.

Former ITN chief executive Stewart Purvis tells us why he believes we will “see and hear things on the air we’ve never seen before” in general election coverage. And GB News presenter Albie Amankona joins the conversation to explain why he thinks the station challenges traditional news media.

And Steven Knight, the screenwriter behind Peaky Blinders and This Town shares his moment of the week.

Kate Middleton's Health, Dan Wootton Speaks Out For First Time Since Cancelation, and Pressures on Parents, with Tim Carney | Ep. 745

Megyn Kelly is joined by Dan Wootton, host of "Dan Wootton Outspoken,” for an exclusive interview to discuss the crazy censorship regime in the U.K., the on-air moment that led to his forced exit from GB News, what was really behind the "witchhunt" against him, the "smear campaign" against him, whether Prince Harry is behind the “smear campaign” against him that led to his GB News firing, Harry's desperation to bring down Dan and Piers Morgan, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continuing to play the victim and displaying hypocrisy, Harry and the left weaponizing the British police, Meghan Markle's latest absurd comments at SXSW, why Dan is apologizing to Johnny Depp over his past Amber Heard coverage, what he's learned over the last year about toxic relationships and journalism, what he knows about Kate Middleton's health and how she is "very unwell," what really happened with the edited photo, how the public is reacting and the conspiracy theories, the health issues within the Royal Family right now, the level of privacy the Royal family is entitled to, and more. Then Tim Carney, author of "Family Unfriendly," joins to discuss the parent “trap” in society that leads to more pressure and less freedom for kids, parents’ egos and how it affects their children, why kids need independence to grow, the value of boredom, the importance of faith in raising a family, why we need to increase the American birthrate, and more.

    82: Fun in the Sun

    82: Fun in the Sun
Episode 82. Ian Hislop, Adam Macqueen and Helen Lewis take a look back at the week’s news, including Jeremy Clarkson’s car crash of a column, super injunctions that may or may not exist and children identifying as cats, or possibly just taking the piss. Plus journalist Richard Brooks goes down on the solar farm in Oxfordshire and looks for where the sun isn’t shining.

Are the 'New Conservatives' a help or a headache for Rishi Sunak?

Are the 'New Conservatives' a help or a headache for Rishi Sunak?

If you landed in this country and wondered what its problems were you might see the long queues for the health services, the high inflation, the shortage of workers to fill public sector jobs and the difficulties the country has with its supply chains.

The New Conservatives are a new fringe Conservative group trying to solve a different problem.

They think we need to cut immigration numbers by 400k, stop foreign workers visas, and offer the jobs (that we can't currently fill) to British workers. So that's now on Rishi's plate for him to ponder.

We talk to their leader Tom Hunt and ask him how he'd get Brits to do those jobs.

And after the press regulator IPSO ruled the Jeremy Clarkson column in the Sun was 'sexist, pejorative and prejudicial' we talk to IPSO's chairman Lord Faulks.

The BBC vs. Lineker: They think it’s all over ... it isn’t

The BBC vs. Lineker: They think it’s all over ... it isn’t

Gary Lineker will be back on air this weekend.

And BBC Director General Tim Davie has apologised to viewers for the weekend's schedule disruptions.

They'd like this row to go away now.

    Except it won't.

Where does it leave the BBC Chair and his Tory donations and friendships? Where does it leave the social media activities of other high profile talent? And what does impartiality mean - if it's being dictated by the government?

We speak to Armando Iannucci - who coined the phrase omnishambles a decade ago...

And we look at the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and ask if over the weekend we got close to another financial crash.
