We Rewatch "The Postman" and "The Doors" (So You Don't Have To)

We Rewatch "The Postman" and "The Doors" (So You Don't Have To)
Len and Beave rewatch two notable 90s film releases, "The Doors" starring Val Kilmer (and Titus Welliver in an unforgettable cameo), and "The Postman", directed by and starring Kevin Costner. We discuss our opinions of each movie, and why it succeeded (or failed). Len discusses his hatred for GIovanni Ribisi, and wonders aloud how many Kevin Costner love scenes remained on the cutting floor. Beave reminisces about how things were so much better in the sixties, while Len sighs.

#84 - The History of America Online (AOL).

Thank you for tuning in!  On today's episode we are taking a trip back to the 80s/90s to learn about the history of America Online (later AOL).  America Online was the brainchild of Steve Case, a man who knew that this internet "stuff" was going to get big and he wanted to build community via the internet.  You'll learn about what led up to America Online's development, the company's surge to the top of the technology field, and it's ultimate crash and burn.  AOL was the first exposure my sister and I had to the internet so it seems only fitting to do a show all about it!

Thank you to everyone who reminisced with me about your old AOL screen names!

    Enchanted Steps: The Pole-Child's Journey

    Enchanted Steps: The Pole-Child's Journey

Pippin is a remarkable being, a charming fusion of human and pole. Standing at about four feet tall, they possess a lithe, graceful physique reminiscent of a skilled dancer. Their skin has a soft, slightly luminous quality, hinting at the magical essence that courses through their veins.

Pippin's face is a delightful mix of human and pole features. They have expressive, almond-shaped eyes that shimmer with a kaleidoscope of colors, reflecting the enchanting aura surrounding them. A delicate button nose sits above their small, expressive mouth, often curved into a warm smile.

Their hair is a wonder to behold, cascading in long, flowing strands that seem to contain the energy of a swirling nebula. It changes hues subtly, ranging from deep indigo to vibrant magenta, echoing the vivid lights of the club where Meg once danced.

Pippin's upper body blends seamlessly into the pole-like lower half. Their arms are slender and graceful, with elegant fingers that move with a dancer's precision. As their gaze shifts downward, their torso tapers into a sleek, polished surface reminiscent of the finest hardwood, adorned with faint, glowing symbols that seem to dance as they move.

The bottom half of Pippin is an iridescent pole, seemingly alive with an inner glow. It is as if the pole itself has come to life and gained sentience, embracing Pippin with an everlasting bond. The pole extends into the ground, seemingly rooted in both the earthly realm and the mystical unknown.

Pippin's movements are a mesmerizing display of fluidity and grace, often accompanied by faint, ethereal music that seems to resonate with their very being. They exude an air of magic and wonder, captivating anyone fortunate enough to witness their presence.

As Pippin steps into the future, they carry with them the legacy of dance, magic, and love, a testament to the extraordinary beauty of a half-human, half-pole existence.

    Lost Princesses

In this special Showdown episode, Conor and Caroline are continuing their non-Disney cycle with two princess films that dodged a Disney coronation: The Swan Princess and Anastasia. Did the Disney defectors manage to create a film that can compete with the films of the 90s Renaissance or is former animator Richard Rich's adaptation of Swan Lake the next tale as old as time? Let the sweet tones of Liz Callaway take you on a journey to the past to discover if the impact of these films lasts far longer than forever.
