February 15th, 2023. Can Your Electric Vehicle Be Hacked, Crashed, and Held for Ransom?
It’s February 15th. You’re listening to the President’s Daily Brief. Your morning intel starts now. ------ A good day to you, ladies and gentlemen. I’ve got four briefs for you this morning that are shaping America — and the world. First, Ford Motor Company has halted production of their electric pickup truck because of a battery issue. We’ll talk about that, plus how Ford has a new source of cobalt for those batteries when they work.  Second, and speaking of electric vehicles, cyber experts are sounding the alarm this morning about electric cars getting hacked and then crashed, and held for ransom all by cyber criminals.  Third, the new Democrat Governor of Arizona is confirming that she will continue bussing illegal migrants all around the country. Her fellow Democrats aren’t happy about that. Fourth, a recent study about coffee actually tells us something interesting about the mind’s ability to heal the body. Later, we close out the podcast with a listener saying that Bryan is Wrong. Yes, I am wrong about the possibility that Joe Biden is compromised by China. So I’ll respond to that, asking you to think like a spy.  ----- Please remember to subscribe if you enjoyed this episode of the President's Daily Brief. #52 Creating Accidental Activists to Improve Health in a Post Pandemic World with George Monbiot

#52 Creating Accidental Activists to Improve Health in a Post Pandemic World with George Monbiot

Today on the podcast I welcome along George Monbiot - who is is an author, Guardian columnist and environmental campaigner.

George cowrote the concept album Breaking the Spell of Loneliness with musician Ewan McLennan; and has made a number of viral videos. One of them, adapted from his 2013 TED talk, How Wolves Change Rivers, has been viewed on YouTube over 40m times. Another, on Natural Climate Solutions, that he co-presented with Greta Thunberg, has been watched over 50m times.

As we witness an improvement in the crisis and anticipate the relaxation of social distancing, I wanted to talk about the opportunities to learn and reform our political systems that globally have been woefully unprepared and slow to respond.

As we try to recuperate the losses both emotionally, physically and financially I’m trying to cultivate the opinions of thinkers from around the world who have long documented the unfolding crises in society that have now spectacularly revealed themselves to us.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • How to harness intrinsic human values of kindness to foster better wellbeing in society
    • How cooperation and altruism is hardwired in our neurobiology
    • The evolution of humans would have required community and kindness to survive rather than the prevailing narrative of individualism and inequality
    • Neoliberalism in politics and how we have evolved over the 20th and 21st century
    • The impact of immersing ourselves in a virtual world
    • How we address alienation and loneliness, which are the defining conditions of our time.
    • The rise in social initiatives and Accidental activists
    • What will we reward in a post pandemic era? Those with material wealth and social influence or those who seek to build community and foster relationships?
    • Is this an opportunity to build a doughnut economy?
    • Big Organising in the wake of the Pandemic

And don't forget to subscribe to The Doctor's Kitchen newsletter where we will be continuing to share weekly science based recipes and tips to help you live the healthiest and happiest lifestyle possible.

    Skin secrets with Alison Young

    Skin secrets with Alison Young

In this week's episode, Liz is joined by beauty expert Alison Young. Ali is best known for being QVC’s longest standing and most trusted beauty presenter (where she met Liz!) but much of the work she’s done throughout her illustrious 30+ year career has, in fact, been off camera. Advising and directing some of our best-loved brands, it’s hard to overstate the influence she’s had on the beauty industry during this time. Strongly against the need for surgery and injectables, she’s an advocate for great results which can be achieved in our own homes, sharing her findings on screen, radio, in the press and on her own website Alison Young BeautyShe joins us today to discuss how we can all look our best in mid-life and beyond.

You can find the show notes with all the resources and links mentioned in the episode at https://lizearlewellbeing.com/s5e3-skin-secrets-alison-young/.
