Heaven & Hell – What Should I Believe?

Heaven & Hell – What Should I Believe?
This week we conclude our sermon series about “New Life In Christ,” i.e., being born again. Our focus in this last installment will be on the afterlife and how being born again affects that. If you’ve ever wondered what will heaven really be like? Or, how could a loving God create a place like hell? Don’t miss this Sunday’s sermon. You’ll learn a lot and just might be surprised!

    Metamorphosis

    Metamorphosis
In our sermon series on “New Life in Christ,” we’ve talked about what Jesus meant when he said “you must be born again” and we’ve talked about the role that grace and faith play in that spiritual birthing process. Now this Sunday we’re ready to discuss what comes next. Once I’ve been spiritually reborn, what should my life look like? How will it be different? What should I expect?

    Animal House

    Animal House
This week we continue our Sermon series called “New Life in Christ.” Last week we began by exploring what it means to be “born again.” We saw that Jesus was talking about the necessity of a spiritual awakening within each of us. This week we’ll dig deeper by studying a key New Testament passage that puts some more meat on the bones. This week’s passage identifies the two most crucial elements in the spiritual awakening that Jesus calls us to.

    Born Again?

    Born Again?
You’ve heard the phrase a million times. You’ve seen it on thousands of bumper stickers? But have you ever heard a really thoughtful discussion of what Jesus meant when he originally used that term. This Sunday Pastor Jeff will dig deep into the question: What does it really mean to be born again? This will be the first installment in a new sermon series called “New Life In Christ.”

Emmanuel: God with Us - Part 4 - The Incarnation of Redemption - Christmas Eve - Pastor Rob Bentz

Emmanuel: God with Us - Part 4 - The Incarnation of Redemption - Christmas Eve - Pastor Rob Bentz

On Christmas Eve, we conclude our sermon series, Emmanuel: God with Us, looking at the significance of the incarnation of Jesus. Through God sending His Son, who was born of a virgin, in human flesh, Believers are called to embrace redemption through repentance and belief in Jesus. True freedom is found only in Christ—and through the redemption He offers to all believers. Pastor Rob Bentz shares our latest sermon, The Incarnation of Redemption, to close out our Advent series. Merry Christmas, Woodside White Lake family!

Episode 39: James Johnson, Time to Let This Go

Episode 39: James Johnson, Time to Let This Go

James Johnson was raised by a devoted single mom on the south side of Chicago.  Regardless of his caring upbringing, James chose a life of rebellion and drugs in his teen years that spiraled into full-blown addiction for 45 years of his life.

It wasn’t until James withered away to 135 pounds and had a bad overdose that he was truly at the end of his rope--at 60 years old. With the help of Wayside Cross Ministries, James was able to finally lay drugs to rest and put Jesus in the center of his life. Because of his transformation, friends refer to him as "contagious and infectious." James devotes his time to spreading the love of Jesus and now serves as a greeter at his church and serves at Wayside Cross.

Our Sendoff features poetry from Niko Hays.

Ephesians: A New Kind of Human

Ephesians: A New Kind of Human

17-19 This is my instruction, then, which I give you from God. Do not live any longer as the Gentiles live. For they live blindfold in a world of illusion, and cut off from the life of God through ignorance and insensitiveness. They have stifled their consciences and then surrendered themselves to sensuality, practising any form of impurity which lust can suggest.

20-24 But you have learned nothing like that from Christ, if you have really heard his voice and understood the truth that he has taught you. No, what you learned was to fling off the dirty clothes of the old way of living, which were rotted through and through with lust’s illusions, and, with yourselves mentally and spiritually re-made, to put on the clean fresh clothes of the new life which was made by God’s design for righteousness and the holiness which is no illusion.

It didn't matter that I was good at anything and everything. It didn't matter that I was charismatic and captivating.  It didn't matter that I was “successful.” It didn't solve the problem that every morning I woke up feeling unworthy of anything I'd earned or been given.  Cody Helps Good Men Become Great and Have it all in Life, Love and Business

A Gospel That Transforms - Micah Hackett

A Gospel That Transforms - Micah Hackett

This week's message is all about the transforming power of the gospel - the power to transform lives as well as destinies. Micah Hackett, a young man who we featured last week on our broadcast, looks at this transforming power in three aspects – the power to change the sinner’s condition before God, to change the sinner’s relationship with God, and to change the sinner’s position in God’s reckoning. In our helpless and hopeless state, this is the power we don’t have, but it is the power readily available to us through our Lord Jesus Christ. Though Micah is not with us anymore to proclaim the gospel personally, we trust that the recorded words of this young man will convince you that salvation is real and that it’s something that you, if you don’t know Christ already, desperately need. Receive the grace offered to you through Christ, even today. Tomorrow may be too late.
