    99. TANTRUMS: WHAT ARE THEY, WHY DO THEY HAPPEN, & HOW TO RESPOND NOT REACT

In this week’s conversation, we are talking tantrums. What are they, why do they happen, and how can we minimize them?

One thing we want you to take away is that a tantrum is a communication and not a behavioral problem! This might be hard to digest as we might think a tantrum or meltdown is because they just aren’t getting what they want, when in fact this is just their response to stressors.

Do you ever joke with your kids and say “awwww, your life is soooo hard.” Although it seems that they have it so easy… our littles have stressors as well. We think they have it made but it’s not as easy as we think. These little ones are learning and absorbing so much. It can be/feel overwhelming to them and when our needs/wants differ from theirs, this can cause stress leading to “tantrums.”

We will discuss what that looks like in their bodies and how we as parents can support our kids during these times!

Next week is our 100th episode, we hope to see you at our meet & greet! Email us at thenurturingparent.pod@gmail.com for the zoom link ❤️

One Line To Help You Parent With Confidence - with Cindy Shuster, Parent Coach

If you're feeling overwhelmed and frustrated because your attempts to set boundaries based on your family values and intuition are falling flat, you are not alone! Perhaps you find yourself constantly giving in to your child's demands, compromising your own values, or feeling disconnected from your family. Despite your best efforts, a calmer and more connected parenting environment seems out of reach.

But there is hope! By understanding the importance of setting boundaries and aligning them with your family values, you can parent with confidence and create the harmonious and fulfilling home life you've been yearning for.

    Guest Bio:
Our special guest is Cindy Shuster, PCI® Certified Parent Coach, Nurtured Heart Approach® Certified Trainer, and mom for over 26 years.

Meet Cindy Shuster—a beacon of hope for all parents struggling to find balance between their expectations and real-life parenting scenarios. After a decade of teaching on the elementary education frontlines and raising three sons, Cindy found her true calling as a PCI-certified parent coach. She learned several lessons from her own experiences as a mother. One of the most important? That raising children takes more than just love and provision—it requires a strategic approach.

Today, Cindy channels her passion into sharing her learned wisdom with other parents, paying it forward and making their journeys a little bit smoother.

'Kids do well if they can,’ not ‘kids do well if they want to.’ We should be adopting the mindset of helping children develop the skills they need rather than expecting them to behave perfectly. —Jenny GK

    The Power of Self-Image

    The Power of Self-Image

Our self-image is a powerful thing.  If we have a strong sense of self and worth, we show up in the world, with our husband and children with a sense of dignity and clarity.  We feel confident and secure that we can create the life we've always wanted.

If we don't have a strong self-image, we show up defeated before we begin.

Have you considered your self-image lately?  Who do you want to be?

This episode helps you discover who you want to be and how to make the changes you desire.

choosing to be in charge rather than in control with mary van geffen

Parent coach, Mary Van Geffen joins us to explain the distinction between being in charge versus in control and why it's so important when it comes to parenting teens. In this pep talk we chat over-responsibility in parenting, redefining success, and what your teens really need from you. Mary even gives us an example of how this plays out in her own home so you can directly implement in your own life.

Who Do You Want to Be?

Who Do You Want to Be?

In "The Way", by St. Josemaria Escriva, point #1 says,  "Don't let your life be barren. Be useful. Blaze a trail. Shine forth with the light of your faith and your love your love."

When we hear those words, sometimes we think we have to go do something bigger in the world than be where we are now in the world.

But I want you to suggest to you that what you are doing - your role as a wife and mother - is of profound importance in the world.

Embracing your role in your family can actually change the world.
