Vasco Da Gama ka aagman : Kappad Beach
Vasco Da Gama Lands in India: Kappad Beach
A desolate beach and a quiet village greet you when you reach Kappad Beach where Vasco Da Gama landed close to 400 years ago. A small nondescript concrete memorial informs you in a terse language that the history defining trader from Portugal landed here. The quiet indifference of the people and the "blink-and-miss" memorial makes you think if the oft-repeated criticism of Indians being averse to history has merit?

Cam and Duane of Oso Rojo - S03E01
This is not your average family-run business, the Ayers family likes to kick it up a notch with their line of hot sauces from Oso Rojo! With a tagline of "Flavor Before Spice", Cam has found a brilliant combination of savory, spice, and just above-and-beyond flavor with every bottle created.
Cam and Duane are so laid back and love what they do. It's not often you find a bottle of hot sauce that goes on almost anything (I finished the bottle within 1 week)! Their main line of sauces are some of my favorites, including Umami Bomb, Jalapeno Garlic, Orange Ginger, and Habanero Mustard.
NOT ONLY THAT! But Cam has some excellent collaborations with Weldwerks, O'dell Brewing Company, and Cerebral. Be sure to check them out at places like the Cupboard in Fort Collins and several other stores selling your local faves, or go visit Cam and Duane at the Farmer's Markets! That's where I met them first.

"Movies Are For The Weekend, TV Shows Are For During The Week"
Episode 71 starts off hot with more little league talk, Buffalo Wild Wings vs. Hooters and the humiliation of Andrew's workout class. Then Andrew needs backup on staying with a partner who cheats on you so that you can bask in the moral high ground and no one actually liking pepper.
Johnny needs backup on movies being for the weekend and TV shows being for during the week. Remember to join the Patreon for post-show banter and monthly bonus episodes!

VMI 4.01 Spring Break Forever
A LONG TIME AGO ON VERONICA MARS:
• SPRING BREAK!! Neptune is full of douchey boys and drunk girls, what could possibly go wrong??
• What goes wrong? A bomb goes off at the party motel, that’s what’s wrong! Killing four people, one of whom is the nephew of El Despiadado, a MEXICAN CRIME LORD oh Rob Thomas, must we?
• We must, and El Despiadado must send two guys to Neptune to chop off the head of whoever’s responsible for the bombing.
• But they’re not the only family with a stake in this crime: the brother of congressman Daniel Maloof lost his hand and his fiancee, and the Maloofs hire the Marses to investigate. And Matty, the teenage daughter of the motel owner who died, is tugging at Veronica’s heartstrings.
• We also meet some new characters: pizza delivery guy Patton Oswalt - er, Penn; Mr Hu, whose supermarket is being sabotaged with rats; and super cool bar owner Nicole, who sure can punch.
• Plus we have the return of ambulance-chasing Cliff; a still-recovering Keith; and Big Dick Casablancas, who’s campaigning to Make Neptune Great Again.
• Logan is also back, and he proposes to Veronica! What a prick! And he plays with Wallace’s baby! Ugh how dare he!
Join Jenny Owen Youngs and Helen Zaltzman to investigate Veronica Mars season 4 episode 1: Spring Break Forever, and get stuck into such mysteries as why Wallace doesn't have his own adorable multi-camera sitcom already, whether Americans really do use cutesy swears like 'cockwaffle', and how come there's so much natural light in Neptune these days.
Content note: Veronica Mars contains heavy themes, and this episode includes storylines concerning murder, violence and bombing.

How an Academic Adapted to Entrepreneurship: Kiki Aranita
Kiki Aranita, founder of Poi Dog in Philadelphia is a scholar and an entrepreneur. After closing her beloved brick and mortar restaurant because of the pandemic, she has just launched a new line of Hawaiian style sauces, including Maui Lavender Ponzu and Chile Peppah Water. On Speaking Broadly, she describes the connection between academia and starting a new business:
"The Latin Greek Institute greatly informed who I am as a person, how I approach academia and how I pretty much approach anything. In the first four to five weeks, I learned the entire grammatical system of an ancient language, and then spent the following five weeks translating texts. Every single one of those days, I cried. It is the most soul destroying way of learning a language, but it is effective. So now, in order to start something new, I need to get all of the information and digest all of the materials, learn the language of whatever I'm getting into whether that's restaurants or making sauces. I need to become very fluent before I proceed."
Listen in for more on Kiki's life as a Hong Kong Handover Kid, Dad sourcing, Hawaiian families and more.

Yesod Williams (Pepper): Living w/Depression & Alcoholism Recovery with Kellie Nowell (The Nowell Family Foundation, Bradley's House)
Mari Fong interviews Yesod Williams (Pepper, LAW Records) & Kellie Nowell (The Nowell Family Foundation, Bradley's House). Yesod Williams shares his story and solutions on alcoholism and depression. Growing up seeing his mother's alcoholism, Yesod Williams slides into alcoholism after her death. With 9 years of abuse, Yesod's drummer friend Adam O'Rourke of 2Cents gave him the direction and advice that started his detox from alcohol.
After hitting rock bottom, Yesod changed his lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise. Depression was part of his withdrawal from alcohol, but he kept moving forward. Yesod's LAW Records dropped a new compilation CD entitled, "The House That Bradley Built" with artists singing acoustic Sublime songs. The proceeds will go to Bradley's House, an opioid rehab center for musicians, as a tribute to Bradley Nowell, lead singer of Sublime who died in 1996 of a heroin overdose.
Kellie Nowell, sister of Brad of Sublime, talks about family addictions and fond memories of brother Brad. Our featured song is "Rivers of Babylon" sung by Jake and Jim "Papa" Nowell, a highlight on "The House That Bradley Built" Deluxe CD that can be purchased at law-records.com.

Lefts Wing It On Politics
Well, there's no time like the present to talk about this election. And when you do, having a drink is a MUST. Whether you agree or not, a discussion is necessary.
The Chile Pepper in China
Chile peppers did not appear in China until the late 16th century when they were introduced from the Americas. Historian and author Brian Dott discusses how the nonnative chile went from obscurity to ubiquity in China, influencing not just cuisine, but also medicine, language, and cultural identity.
