Episode 211 - Zephaniah: How Will You Fare on the Day of the Lord? Majoring in the Minors Part 8

When you read all of the prophetic books together, it can seem like God is saying much of the same things over and over. But that should be a great encouragement to us! God does not change! What He rebuked and reprimanded His people about in Joel are the same things He rebukes and reprimands His people about in Malachi! We don't have to wonder what God wants from us or if He will accept us - He's written it all down for us! And that includes how we can know how we will fare on the Day of the Lord!

    Episode 32 - R.E.A.C.H. People - Jeremiah 26:1 - 9

    Episode 32 - R.E.A.C.H. People - Jeremiah 26:1 - 9

Did you know that evangelizing the Gospel is not something new in the New Testament? God used prophets beginning all the way back with Moses to preach the good news of salvation that can only come from God. In this episode, we look at God commanding Jeremiah to preach the Gospel to the people of Judah and attach the acronym R.E.A.C.H. to remind us of all of the reasons God commands us to be a part of bringing people to salvation even though He is completely responsible for someone coming to salvation.

Episode 167 - Siege, Cow Pies, and the Wrath of God - Why is THAT in the Bible?! Part 8

Episode 167 - Siege, Cow Pies, and the Wrath of God - Why is THAT in the Bible?! Part 8

God often had Old Testament Prophets do difficult, and even bizarre, things. And nowhere do we see that more than with the Prophet Ezekiel. In this episode, we delve into a very odd passage where God tells Ezekiel to tell the exiles of Judah in Babylon about the forthcoming siege of Jerusalem and the dire consequences the people will face, by first, performing dramatic theater for the people, then by lying on the ground on either of his sides while tied up in ropes, and then by drinking a small amount of water, and baking an unusual cake of bread over human excrement!

Why would God have Ezekiel do these things and use such bizarre methods to give the people His message? What does this passage tell us about prophets? What does this passage have to do with us today? And finally, why is this passage in the Bible?!

Old Testament, Amos and Obadiah, Seek The Lord And Ye Shall Live, Come Follow Me

Old Testament, Amos and Obadiah, Seek The Lord And Ye Shall Live, Come Follow Me

Join us this week as we discuss Amos and Obadiah.  Amos is most known for his words on the purpose of prophets and the famine of hearing the words of The Lord.  Prophets of our youth have special place in our hearts.  Latter Day prophets have themes.  We can be saviors with a lower case "s" for those that have not received the gospel.

    From Come Follow Me:
God chose Abraham’s seed to be His covenant people so that they would “be a blessing” to all people (see Genesis 12:2–3). But instead, by the time of Amos’s ministry, many of the covenant people were oppressing the poor and ignoring the prophets, making their acts of worship empty and meaningless (see Amos 2:6–16). True, the nations surrounding them were also guilty of great sins (see Amos 1; 2:1–5), but that has never been an excuse for God’s people (see Amos 3:2). So God sent a herdsman from Judah named Amos to preach repentance to the Kingdom of Israel. Later, God also declared through the prophet Obadiah that although the Kingdom of Judah had been destroyed, the Lord would gather and bless His people again. The covenant people had strayed from the Lord, both prophets testified, but they would not be cast off forever. When God reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets (see Amos 3:7), we can take it as a sign that He still wants to help us live up to the covenants we made with Him.
