What Does it Mean to Be "Set Apart?"
Our hearts desire and our walk with Christ is such a complex and often confusing subject. We often desire for things of this world and sometimes God agrees that these desires match His plan or our life, but not always, and not always in the way we believe.
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."
"I have set you apart."
The show Chosen has literally changed my life and blossomed my walk with Christ the way I know it has many others. The scene with Jesus and Little James impacted me very deeply in a way most might not expect.

Our God - Perfect and Good - Part Two
Pastor Larry continues to look at some of God's attributes. How He reveals Himself to us and how He is always at work in all circumstances to accomplish His purpose in our life. To make us like Jesus. Romans 8:28-29, Jeremiah 9:23-24, 2 Corinthians 12:10
Lot and His Daughters - The Book of Genesis
In this Bible Story, Lot's daughters trick their father into sleeping with them in order to carry on the bloodline. These children would eventually become the Moabite and Ammonite nations. This story is inspired by Genesis 19:30-38. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.
Today's Bible verse is Genesis 19:30 from the King James Version.
Episode 13: Lot and his daughters have escaped the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah by God’s grace and kindness, but, as they hid in the cave at Zoar, wickedness was not far behind. Lot’s daughter's longing for children, stuck in a cave, decided to get their father drunk enough that they could each take turns sleeping with him. Their plan worked, but the sons they bore became enemies of Abraham's descendants for generations to come.

Our God - Perfect and Good
Pastor Larry looks at some of God's attributes. Those we like and those we don't like, and how they show that He is not like us. He is good and His ways are always perfect. When we don't understand or believe that, we begin to question and accuse God. That undermines our faith and we miss His purpose for us as found in Romans 8:28-29.

Trials - Can You Stand the Test?
In this episode, I take a personal direction and talk about a time in my life when I followed the Lord but still went through several trials. I questioned why I was there but in the end, the Lord revealed why He had placed me there and the answer was not what I expected.
I also introduce Bob Sorge, a Christian pastor and author who went through an overwhelming trial, how he endured it and came out changed as a result.
I close by including scriptures and quotes from Bob's books that bring to light the essence of what a trial is and how to believe stronger in the Lord in the midst of the tempest.

TPP #54 | Will I Get Out of This Abyss with Rachel Varghese
Being in the middle of your parable story can be a tricky spot. We wonder if He is listening, are we missing something, or impatience arises. For me, it is all the above. Parables are meant to be not so blatant, there is a process of figuring things out on our own. I have the honor of being on our teaching team at the West Ridge Community Church in Elgin, and as a part of their parable series, I was asked to incorporate The Parable Podcast into a Sunday morning. Always grateful for the leadership there, to allow me to use my gifts and bring some new parable stories to our stage.
For all episodes, it is just us recording our episodes. However, Rachel Varghese was not only willing to share one of her stories but also be in front of a live audience. Rachel shares openly about post-partum depression, medical issues, and acknowledges God is there even in the abyss.
Will He Heal? Will He bring Peace? - Rachel Varghese
Sometimes we are just figuring out our story and how that plays into what God is doing. It can be murky, unknown, and confusing, but Rachel encourages us to keep going and remind ourselves that He is good through it all.
Reflection Questions
- Is your heart struggling to believe that God is good even when you are struggling through a difficult season? I encourage you to write out your emotions to God and talk to Him about them.
- List the ways God has been faithful to you in the past. This will help us not to forget his Goodness.

TPP #44 | If I Can't, Is God Enough? with Tonya Annis
Being willing doesn't come easy for most of us. I am always willing to go for a cheeseburger or iced caramel latte. But, being willing to accept the direction and circumstances God allows in my life. Umm, not so much. Willingness is scary, submissive and you are going to need patience.
Meet my new friend Tonya Annis who leads the 1825 Ministry at her home church in Jacksonville, FL. I enjoyed her perspective on what this next generation looks like and can we love them well. She gives insight into how we as adults break down the conversation of purpose and provision and find common ground.
When a season of her life caused change, Tonya had to wrestle with the truth about who God says she is, her gifts and if that doesn't play out in her life, "is God still good?" Her journey is one most of us can relate to when change occurs in our world.
Tonya has been in ministry for 17 years and we talk about the positive and challenging parts of being a woman in the church. What does that role look like for her and how has she gone to God for guidance. Please enjoy this parable conversation with, Tonya Annis.
Reflection Questions
- What would it take for you to tell God you are willing regardless of whatever circumstances are in your life?
- How can you go first with someone this week?

Day 25: Job's Questioning (2022)
Who is This Who Darkens Counsel
After losing his health, wealth, and children in inexplicable tragedies, Job questions God's integrity. God responds, "Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man, I will question you, and you shall answer Me". When Job got the answer, it wasn’t the one he wanted. He was undone by the questions God asked him. Like Job, we may feel justified in our questioning. But who are we to question God with our finite understanding. Scripture References: Job 42:1-5, Job 38:4-11, Job 38:16-41, Job 39:-19-29, Job 40:4-14, Jeremiah 9:23-24, Jeremiah 6:16–17, Isaiah 55:8-9
This is My Story 2021 Part 5: Kevin and Missy Lamb
Your story is powerful. Every story of God’s faithfulness is an invitation to walk deeper with Him. In this message, Kevin and Missy Lamb share their story of God’s goodness through adversity and blessing.
Looking forward to growing their family, a miscarriage brought Missy to a crisis of faith. The Lord used financial struggles to confront Kevin concerning his trust in his own abilities. Through everything the Lord enabled them to overcome and to become more and more like Him.
