    Drea Clark on 'Muriel's Wedding'

Indie producer, film festival programmer, and fellow Maximum Fun movie podcaster Drea Clark called dibs on Muriel Heslop before the first episode of Feeling Seen ever aired. The movie has been a favorite since its 1994 release, and while Drea doesn't relate to every aspect of Toni Collette's iconic "terrible" wannabe bride, Muriel's journey to self-acceptance and growth spoke to Drea, both then and now.

Then, Jordan has one quick thing about another story of the power of friendship...M3GAN.

Rachel Griffiths Makes A Valid Point

Following the casting notes from Stevie Ray the Daddos set off to pitch the show to Alex Papps; hoping the beloved TV actor will play our lead role. Plus Cameron pulls some SERIOUS strings and managed to get the one and only Rachel Griffiths to hear our pitch for her to play our leading female role of Stephanie. The only problem is… we’ve not actually written much of that character yet! Good thing the wonderful Libby Butler is a phone call away to help out!

Muriel's Wedding (1994) with Jennifer Logan

Muriel's Wedding (1994) with Jennifer Logan

Our April Double Feature begins with this Aussie bouquet-tossin' gem that was hand-picked by Jennifer Logan, the political activist, artist, and wife of Alex, one-third of your hosts here at the NeverEnding Movie Marathon. With Matt off making a film with his wife, Alex and Rocco are inviting their significant others on the pod to gush about the movies that they love!

Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths explode fully-formed from this film onto the world stage, thanks in part to the equally funny and heart-wrenching script that came directly from the life of writer/director PJ Hogan. Plus, all those ABBA songs really clinched it. Today, we say Hello and Goodbye to Porpoise Spit, Tim Sims, and Chook for 'Muriel's Wedding!'

The NeverEnding Movie Marathon is a weekly podcastic celebration of cinema. Dive deep into fan-favorite films (#NoStinkers!), thematically curated to enhance your movie viewing by hosts Matt Detisch, Alex Logan, and Michael Rocco.

    S06E04: The Rookie

    S06E04: The Rookie
Liz Roscher of Yahoo! Sports and Kevin Goldstein of Fangraphs defied the MLB lockout to join us for The Rookie, an above-average baseball movie about Jim Morris's midlife journey to the majors that is therefore below average generally. How's Dennis Quaid's pitching form? How's his dad-cap form? Is the fictional Jim Morris a solid DILF but a bad high-school coach? Why didn't the nuns in the (interminable) first act go off in the third? And does the movie make the lede in the obit, or get crowded out by classics like Jaws 3D? Editing actors to look like athletes, a suicide-squeeze play only one panelist noticed ('cause she has to), and yet another guest who's "more of a Randy Quaid guy": it's an all-new Quaid In Full. Overall score: 5.10 QQQ score: 7.88 Days since a lost Kuffs accident: 105 SHOW NOTES Follow us on Twitter (http://twitter.com/quaidinfullpod) Get EVEN MORE Qontent (...sorry) at our Patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/quaidinfull) Kenneth Turan's review in the L.A. Muriel's Wedding #28

    Muriel's Wedding #28

Chris and Pam discuss the next movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week's randomly selected movie is Muriel's Wedding. This 1994 Australian movie might seem frivolous on the surface, but it is a movie very layered in emotions and lessons. Muriel is from the small (fictional) town of Porpoise Spit and must learn some valuable lessons about what it means to value yourself. Spoilers are discussed, so watch the movie first if those things matter to you!

Rachel Griffiths Is Reclaiming ‘Like A Girl’

Rachel Griffiths Is Reclaiming ‘Like A Girl’

Rachel Griffiths has been telling stories for the past 25 years of her life.

Whether it’s through movies like Muriel’s Wedding or TV shows like Six Feet Under or Brothers and Sisters - each of which she starred in for years, she’s built her career out of playing interesting characters. But now, she’s decided to create interesting characters.

You see Rachel was at a BBQ on Melbourne Cup day in 2015 when a lightning bolt of an idea hit her. She was watching the race surrounded by her friends, when the race caller said the words Michelle Payne.

What happened next went down in history. Michelle Payne became the first ever female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. And Rachel knew in that moment that she had to turn it into a film.

Four years later she's done just that and she joins Mia to talk about it.
